I don't care whether they throw or not, but this makes me wonder why they don't.
Simple, they have nothing to gain. They'd rather throw in a controlled workout, throwing to WRs they are familiar with. |
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
True but if it hasnt hurt anyone's stock why isnt he throwing? I would think a running style QB like RGIII would be dying to show off his arm and accuracy because if he kicked butt he could vault himself to #1 overall.
There's plenty of tape to show he can throw, and he'll throw at his pro day. |

LOL. What do you suggest, we let them play in the NFL for a minimum of two years before we subject them to the scouting combine? |
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
Translating to the NFL, I'm sure that's what he meant.

Not really. What I'm suggesting that college ball is nothing at all like pro and guys who look great in college can look pretty crummy in the pros and vice versa. There are just too many huge mis-matches and talent differences in college that can make guys look much better than than they are. Is Luck hiding something? I dont know but I doubt it, I dont think RGIII is either. The thing with Luck is he's a pro style QB while RGIII isnt so I'm much more wary of RGIII. |

How would the fact that he's not a pro style QB come across is a few passing drills at the combine anyways? I just don't get your point. |
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
at his pro day he's going to throw chalked balls at moving motorized carts with targets on them
|
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
I think most teams and evaluators put more stock in watching game film vs throwing in shorts at the combine.

I just don't get your point.
Its another way to show arm strength and accuracy. Its not going to make or break him but if he keeps showing he can throw powerfully and accurately then maybe he will be able to be successfull in a pro offense. I doubt any of this matters as the teams that want him will take him no matter what his size, arm strength or accuracy. |

I see what you're trying to get at but I just can't follow that logic. RGIII has plenty of throws on tape that show both of those attributes off much better than any drill at the combine would. |

Its not an either or, its a combo of the tape and seeing him throw in person. |
Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
I would like to see RG3 and Luck throw at the combine just because it would be fun to watch but the reality is it means nothing in terms of the evaluation process. They have nothing to lose or gain by doing it. The important things for Luck & RG3 this week will happen off the field.

Spinning the ball in shorts and a tee shirt may help an under the radar player get noticed....prompting scouts to take a closer look at his game film. I seriously doubt that it helps prospects who are already highly touted and well scouted. |

It's not going to be the fan favorite if the Skins pick him at #6 especially since defense was such a major part of the draft last year and the fact we need a QB but .... what else is new. |

This is the 2nd time this off-season the Redskins have requested time with Brockers (for the life of me, I can't remember when was the first time but I know it happened. Unless the first time was also for the combine?) Anyhow, this could mean a few things: -Due diligence -Legitimate interest -Getting some intel on his teammate Morris Claiborne (whose position coach at LSU just took the same job with the Bucs incidentally)
Who is Guy and why do I keep hearing about him ? |

So apart from Brockers, Redskins have met/will meet with Baylor C Phillip Blake (spent time with him at the Senior Bowl as well), Ohio State OT Mike Adams and Stanford OT Jonathan Martin

Re: The Official 2012 NFL Combine Thread
Sooo ... the plan is to sign Manning, trade back and get a tackle and Tannenhill/Foles.

not me. the difference is the Giants play decent D or cause a turnover and their OFFENSE could make the other team pay. We play the same way and f*ckin Rex is 3 and out, or turning the ball back over, or Gano is getting his kick blocked. Our problem is offense, its dreadful. |

 Eli is better than Rex. Its as simple as that. Rex Grossman is a good QB for both teams; he keeps both of them in the game! |

the way i read this is that there is a possibility of a trade this week for the #2 pick. dont think i would happen, i think the rams could get more by waiting till closer to draft or durning it. |
