re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
I think 2 OL and 1 CB will be taken with our 3rd rd and 2 4th rd picks.
Suppose we do draft a Ryan Broyles, who you got making up the Week 1 WR core?
Garcon/Hankerson/Morgan/Moss/Broyles/Paul if Robinson returns kicks him too possibly |
re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
But if we were gonna pick a WR Joe Adams is my choice
|

Stephen Hill!

We don't have a pick |

It appears the Redskins have enough wide receivers. Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, Josh Morgan, Jabar Gaffney, Leonard Hankerson, Niles Paul, Brandon Banks, David Anderson, and Anthony Armstrong. If they do draft a receiver it would be to add more youth to the position. |

I agree with you on that statement concerning Banks and Anderson. But not Armstrong. Armstrong had a decent season in 2010 but in 2011 he didn't much playing time before of injuries and the strong play of Jabar Gaffney. Armstrong might have a big year in 2012. |

We agree again. I think all three are out. |

Probably. Garcon/Hankerson/Moss/Morgan/Gaffney/Paul/Robinson seems likely right now. |

I think 7 is a bit much. Paul/Robinson probably battle it out for the final spot, with loser taking practice squad. |

i like albert connell's chances this season

Yeah, probably so. |
re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
I wish i could vote against the title of this thread. As a Redskins fan, how could you in good conscious discuss wideouts and the 2nd round in the same sentence?
|

EDIT: Derp.

He has as much chance this season as he had last season. |
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
Joe Adams if anybody. I would hope our picks in 3rd & 4th are O line, safety, or ILB. Or a QB if a good one is still there.
|
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
T.Y. Hilton... selected with our 2nd pick in the 4th rd.
|
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
no no no no no.
If we pick up a WR that hasn't fallen an entire round, we've failed. it means that signing garcon, morgan, gaffney, and taking hankerson wasn't enough. davis, cooley, and moss and still under contrat. If you need to devote more effort than that in picks and cap space, you're awful at managing your roster and should quit. imho. |
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
I can't see drafting a WR is any priority in this years draft. Unless some stud drops pretty low and its one of those "how can we pass this player up" I dont see where we need any further WR on this roster. We need OL depth and secondary additions. PERIOD

Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
He's a workout warrior for sure. My concern with him is lack of experience since all GT does is run the ball. On the pro level, that translates to the question of how quickly he can contribute. That said, someone may reach a bit (Patriots?) and snag him late 1st....
GM, don't mean to burst your bubble, but my uncle coached Chris Carter at OSU, and he tended to emphasize the run. Statistically he was close to 50/50 with regards to the run/pass ratio, but with Keith Byars at RB, he ran first, passed second. My point is if the man has the tools all you have to do is coach him up a bit. He could be the next TO for all we know. |

I would like Darrell Green's son.

I would definitely draft Mike Shanahan. Not the coach of the Redskins but the wide receiver from Pitt. The guy plays like Joe Jurevicius and is around the same size. But Shanahan won't be coming out until next year's draft in 2013. |

i'm with you. i would rather the skins not draft a wr at all this year and if they do, just try and find someone in the late rounds with potential. we have enough of a core to get us through the next season. the wr i have the most questions about is armstrong. he was lighting it up for a while and then just dissapeared. my thinking is because once mcnubb was gone we didn't have a qb that could get a ball to him down field. i'm hoping with griffin coming in we will have the ability to start using armstrong as we did when he first got here. i hope he shows somthing in camp and can be our deep threat this year. |
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
Armstrong didn't play much because: He can't beat the press, he only runs one route effectively, and he sucks. Armstrong is gone.
|

and has inconsistent hands... AA's gone, and I'd add T. Austin, Banks, and Anderson. |
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
I dunno, there is something about Austin. I believe that with RG3 here, Austin could end up making his mark here. I would love to see two of our young WRs step up, instead of only Hankerson, who I think is going to end up becoming a legitimate numero uno in the league. When I look at our young WR corps and RG3, I can honestly say that this is the best WR group we have had in DC since the posse left.
Im sure this has been said before on this board, but with a blue chip franchise QB leading your team, and a decent OLine, WRs who normally are run of the mill become above average options at the position seemingly overnight. I believe we are set at the WR position, but that does not mean I dont think we shouldnt draft one in the 5th round or later looking for a diamond in the rough type. It IS possible. |
Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
I think Austin is gone. Our opening day WR core in my opinion:
Leonard Hankerson Pierre Garcon Joshua Morgan Santana Moss Jabar Gaffney Joe Adams Aldrick Robinson/Niles Paul to PS * Gaffney might be gone too. |

Re: If we Draft a WR, who do you want?
Mark my words, Niles Paul will make this roster. His special teams play outs him ahead of every one else fighting for a roster. He also is a very hood blocker down field which Shanny loves. He did have many catches on the field but caught everything thrown his way in camp and practice. Lets not forget he was a rookie with no OTAs and was a late round draft pick. He needs time to develop just like almost every WR in the league. Very few WRs do anything their rookie year. It will also surely help that he wont havr Beck and Grossman throwing him the ball!!
