Bold mine: "Jennelle Carrillo, of Cleburne, Texas, has sued the Cowboys and owner/general manager Jerry Jones after she suffered severe burns to her backside while allegedly sitting on a bench outside Cowboys Stadium before a team scrimmage in August 2010."

I call shenanigans on the whole lawsuit.

I was wondering if marble was a good conductor of heat because it is always cold when I have touched it. Being the marble in question is black plus this info I presume it can get pretty hot.

Marble is metamorphosed limestone, composed of fairly pure calcite (a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3).

Yes, marble as compared to some common materials used for floor lining, is a better conductor of heat, hence appears to be cooler. This is so because its Specific Heat is 2.08 to 2.94, whereas the Specific Heat of other flooring items is lower than this ( Wood 0.12 to 0.17, Wool, felt 0.07, common granite 1.7 to 1.9). The higher the Specific Heat of a material, the faster it will transfer the heat.
I don't know how long she was sitting for, but if it was hot enough to give her a 3rd degree burn, she probably wasn't sitting for too long.
I think if a bench is hot enough to give you third degree burns, you should be able to tell when you sit down on it that it's too hot. If I sit down on a bench that's extremely hot, I'm smart enough to know to get right back up immediately rather than sit there and burn my ass. With all that said, I'm no doctor, so if it can be proven she sat on the bench for a very minimal amount of time and got 3rd degree burns from it then by all means feel free to prove me wrong. Personally this just sounds like the hot coffee incident all over again.

Nice design there Jerrah, black marble bench directly in the sun? Are these the same people that built the practice dome which was not in build code compliance? Sorry, no pass for Jerrah and the Cowboys, she should sue and win. If the facility provides a bench to sit, it endorses the fact it is safe to sit. pathetic and half ass by the Cowboys organization

I love how last night I watched about the first quarter of the Atlanta -Cincy game and Andy Dalton whom I've watched for a good 5 years now, was being questioned by nfl scouts for not having a 'strong' arm...then last night the threw a bomb to AJ Green for a TD and said today to reporters that he can throw it 'a lot further if he needed to'

Huge risk for the Lions. Nagy's surgery is season-ending. They are paying that much for a guy that won't play this season.

Nagy....good riddance. Part of the problem on the interior offensive line, not part of the solution. Hope Detroit has better luck with him.

Apparently, Brian Urlacher has had multiple knee surgeries this offseason. The last one was a scope but the Bears have to be worried, he's 34 years old. I've always respected him as a player, he's the closest thing to a Butkus/Ditka-like throwback player we have in today's game.

I'm sure she got skin grafts just for the hell of it.

You don't expect to burn your ass when you sit down on a bench. Spilling hot coffee on yourself, yeah the expectation is you're gonna get burned.

Sometimes people do get legitimately hurt, and sometimes yes a 3rd party needs to take some responsibility. Not every suit is trash like the hot coffee deal.

I made the mistake of leaning on one last summer - it seriously hurt like hell and I could imagine that if I'd had more pressure at the contact point it might have left a mark of some kind. Those things get hot as hell!

I honestly feel like Cams more likely to have a sophmore slump than Andy who has the premier WR, the young physical TE and OL, the no fumble RB and the tough defense over cam who has 10 RBs an ok OL an aging but still decent WR and a defense thats still maturing.

Pass on Shipley. Cincy not exactly with a ton of WR talent outside of AJ Green to be cutting a player who had a decent rookie year. Ton of red flags. pass pass pass

I'm not questioning whether the skin grafts were legit, I'm sure she actually suffered 3rd degree burns as a result of this. I'm just questioning how long she had to sit on that bench before she realized her ass was burning. If she sat down and immediately suffered 3rd degree burns within a reasonable time span than sure the Cowboys should be held responsible. But if she sat on the bench for half an hour with her ass burning the whole time I wouldn't put that on the Cowboys.

Yeah who knows, maybe she was sitting there for a while not aware of the extent of it. Maybe it's like sitting in the sun for a while, it's not until hours later that you really feel the burn and the pain sets in.

If that is the case than I stand corrected. If she sat on the bench and didn't feel anything yet had 3rd degree burns when she stood up, then I definitely see her winning this case. She'll be well compensated for her injuries.
