After are week 1 victory, if you had told me we'd spend this much time talking about a kicker in just one month, i wouldnt have beleived it.
Overall, i dont think our team will end the year with a significantly better record than last year. Its just more exciting to watch us lose. |
Okay I know nothing about this guy but why wasn't he picked up by somebody else.

I would guess because he can't kick it out of the back of the endzone. They said he is a awesome punter too. |

Can Rocca convert over to kickoff duties? Not sure how much of a leg he has for touch backs. |
I would guess because he can't kick it out of the back of the endzone. re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
You knew it was coming. Cundiff should have made those kicks, especially the ones in Tampa. The Redskins should have put up 30 points in that game. Then he stinks it up at Fed Ex Field the other day. Even the kick Cundiff made against the Bucs to win the game was just inside the upright so he could have easily missed that kick too. It was time for Cundiff to go. He wore out his welcome.
I have no idea who he is but am 100% positive he's better than Cundiff. Say what you want about Shanahan, but atleast he moves on quickly when he realizes he makes a mistake.
He never should've signed Cundiff. Everyone knew the guy's confidence was shot after he choked in the championship game. Plus he was never an elite kicker. The move simply made no sense and there's been too much of that since Shanahan's been here. Now he's signing a kicker that's never kicked in an NFL game. |

Kai Forbath can boot those long range field goals consistently. The guy is money on kicks beyond 50 yards. As far as Cundiff is concerned, I completely agree with you. He never beat Gano for the job. Shanahan just cut Gano and just handed Cundiff the job which I think was wrong. He should have allowed for Gano to mess up and then bring in another kicker if Gano was unable to perform. I think going into his 3rd full season, Gano would have straighten out his problems with consistency but we'll never know now. I'm happy with the new kicker. |

re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
I mean all the veterans are "scrap-heap" guys at this point. If you're a vet kicker and NOT on a team 5 weeks in you're just a guy. It's the truth. Maybe you get brought in and stay hot for a while but you're not going all of a sudden become a stud kicker. Look around the league...the good kickers all came in as young guys and developed. At this point what is the benefit of a guy like Brown compared to Forbath? Nothing. Brown is what he is. Forbath may be more than what he currently is. We gave Gano a similar chance and he didn't develop enough. Cundiff was a "on paper" upgrade who went in the tank. This new guy might develop into a solid kicker. If not he isn't much worse than a decent vet. Which is all that is available.

None of the veterans were even remotely appealing. Mare and Longwell are both like 300 years old and neither could kick the dust off their own feet. I'd much rather go with a highly touted young guy like Korbath who has upside than veterans whos best days are behind them for a 100 percent certainty. |

Forbath might end up being just as good as Chip Lomiller was. We just have to wait and see.

This I don't like:
Known for his strong leg, Forbath has done stints with the Cowboys and Buccaneers.
I guess everyone should be deserving of 3 or 4 chances but why are we the only team that can't find players when we need them? rather decent players. Apparently they couldn't find a Rookie out there just sitting waiting to be picked up or a CFL player thats been booming kicks. No we get retreads. Safety, CB, OL (Brown), kicker, QB (Grossman, McNabb, Collins, Beck). |
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
Sure, but tons of other teams have the same thing happen too. Basically do you want to fill a hole with a career backup rookie (maybe young?) or a solid vet while you wait to fill those holes in the draft or FA?
For me, I'd rather go solid vet until we can fill the hole. How often have we brought in a young discarded player that suddenly becomes awesome? Doesn't happen often for many teams unfortunately. |
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
How is he a retread when he hasn't kicked in a regular season game yet?

Stand corrected Cundiff was a retread. But Forbath the new guy has seen time with the Bucs and Cowboys. One would think if he was any good .... wouldn't they have kept him? Beck is a similar example for me... if he was any good wouldn't the 3 other teams prior to us have kept him? |

The Cowboys actually kept this kid on IR the whole year. He then tried out for the Bucs and really it was Connor Barth's job to lose which he didn't. So this kid essentially just hasn't had the opportunity. Am I the only person that knows Google exists? Just curious. |

It happens and it happens a lot. I think our issue is that we either stick with people too long, get gunshy and the suddenly cut someone promising after a miss here and there. Kickers are a tough commodity to come by, hence the reason they stay with their current teams. |

Dallas Signed him and put him on injured reserve for the season.....the next season jones cut him after making a advertising request and he refused. Tampa Bay signed him and he didnt miss during the preseason but they have a Kicker who has hit 23 in a row.......So he is getting his chance! and hopefully he will be here for awhile!! Accurate at 50 +!! |
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
Correct me if I'm wrong: It seems like unless his name is Janikowski, a kicker typically goes from team to team until he gets enough experience and catches fire somewhere.
(Hoping Korbath's time is now.) |
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
What do we know about this kid Mario Addison? He went to Troy and played defensive end and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2011. Don't know whether or not how many playing time he's received if any. It appears the Redskins view him as another converted outside 3-4 linebacker.
|
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
He wasn't drafted by the Colts
|
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
Smoot, you're right. This kid was undrafted. But initially signed with the Chicago Bears.
|
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
Right, because he wanted to play DE in a 4-3 defense, like Markus White. So...I don't get this move

re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
More than likely the coaches see something on film with this guy. Maybe they just like the way he rushes the passer.
|
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
I like the 4-3 better but MS likes the 3-4 and we won't change until he is no longer the coach. If we can get it to work for us then I might change my mind about the 3-4...
|
re: Update: Redskins Sign K Kai Forbath and OLB Mario Addison/Waive Cundiff and White
Maybe the coaches are not pleased with Rob Jackson or Chris Wilson.

Am I the only person that knows Google exists? Just curious.
Ok there in lies my problem.... I'm using Bing. lol. All I did was go to the article and read how he was with the Bucs and Cowboys. Did I do any extensive searching? no. I'm just pointing out that if he was really good those teams would have kept him or some other team would have picked him up lickety split. It's not like he was cut yesterday and we are picking him up today. How long has he been sitting waiting for a call? atleast preseason? |
