22 million?
Seems like an over-payment, but the fourth's only partially guaranteed. Shooters are a commodity in the league today- Clips just traded their best asset for Redick and Dudley. I think Wall wanted Webster here and he may take a million less than max when it's time to ante up (so it may wash out with the slight discount). |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Martell Webster is kind of the Rex Grossman of the Wizards. Very few people outside the team facilities understand why he's there, but his teammates love him. That said...with Wall and Beal being so young, it's hard to believe Webster himself is only 26 himself
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
I was on the fence with this move, but Id like to see us keep Webster. Think there is growth yet in his game. Seems like a little much, but im good with it.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
I don't watch much basketball (NBA that is) but I got the impression that Martell Webster was just a solid player who turned into one of the few bright spots on such a bad team, that the fans over hyped him and his value.

Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
I'm satisfied with the Webster deal.
He shot over 42% from behind the arc last year (including a crazy 58.5% from the right side) and that is an essential part of a team with Wall's ability to dribble penetrate and kick the ball out. He's also a great locker room guy and relatively young. Webster's versatility is huge, too, since he can play significant minutes at the two, if needed, which is important with Porter and Ariza both needing minutes this year. If his back problems come back this will be called a bad deal, but as it stands right now, I'm happy with it. Also, based on comparable contracts, the partial guarantee is probably somewhere between $1M and $2M, so we can just buy him out that fourth year if needed. |

Korver just got 4/24. I'd rather have Webster. |

whoa. kinda of a shocker
I like it. They've been burned by a college coach before, but Stevens represents young blood. Celts in full rebuild mode and the Stevens hiring is a statement. Rondo's gone by the trade deadline, imo. |
Rondo will probably stay actually, he's young still and a top PG

Time to see how good Rondo is...with his homeboys gone gonna be alot of pressure. This goes one of two ways...really good or terrible. |

Power Rankings for the East for next season (I pulled off of an NBA facebook page)
Power Rankings (East) 1. Heat 2. Bulls 3. Knicks 4. Nets 5. Pacers 6. Cavaliers 7. Wizards 8. Hawks 9. Pistons 10. Raptors 11. Celtics 12. Bobcats 13. Bucks 14. Sixers 15. Magic I haven't been following basketball too closely anymore. Sound right? Way off? I'm just surprised the Wizards aren't in the bottom. They've sucked it up for years now. |

They aren't that good, but everyone else sucks that badly. |

Resigning David West is huge. Rose is coming back, but I'm still wondering where the Bulls are going to get the rest of their scoring. Belinelli leaving for San Antonio has to hurt. As for the NY teams, I'm wondering how interested Melo is while waiting for his exit to (perhaps) LA. Nets are stronger with Garnett and Pierce, but I can't see them beating Miami, Indy or Chicago in a series. |
orlando may be the worst team in the league
I think they've got a much better future than some teams (Milwaukee and Charlotte come to mind... Jefferson wasn't a bad pickup for the latter, however). Harris, Harkless and Vucevic are keepers. Oladipo may end up being the best of this draft class. The Magic need an upgrade at PG, imo- Nelson's FG% is too low to be shooting as much as he does. Who would have thought Orlando would have been the team coming out ahead in the D-Howard four way trade? |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Too many questions in the east except for the heat being far and away the best. Nets: coaching and chemistry, bulls:rose injury and keepin Noah healthy, Knicks: not sold that team can play defense and stoudamire looks to be a shell of himself, wiz:beal and nene health, cavs: wild assumption to put them in the top ten just based on talent, celtics: fully in rebuild mode. I like where the pacers are going but is hibert mature enough to consistently contribute?
The only problem with the Pacers is they do not have good guard play. It cost them in game 7 against Miami. If they somehow get a good point guard they can challenge Miami, especially if Dwade is unhealthy again. |

The Knicks had the best scoring defense in the league in the playoffs. The problem isn't their defense, its the fact that outside of Carmelo they can't score consistently. Once JR Smith went cold that team got destroyed. |

It was Lance Stephenson. He was there Rex Grossman. He kept both teams in the game, but ultimately took more shots than he needed to, which lead to bricks as opposed to points. And Paul George kind of disappeared after game 5. |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
So many Grossman/NBA player comparisons... :D
I feel Kurt Rambis was the original Rex Grossman in the NBA. A steady vet who could come in and be adequate enough. He was Rex Grossman before Rex was Rex Grossman. |

Good for him going out and learning how to swim. However, you would think someone with that much money would pay for private lessons instead of doing it with a bunch of kids and televised. |

Swimming is fun, Id say give it a try. Plus good to know just in case. Sinking is no bueno.
