Yep, we'll need another vet after the Griffin trade. :oink: |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
We don't need both them as backups. Can we please trade Cousins for the highest pick we can get then draft a young QB in the later rounds that has some upside and wont threaten RGIII as starter this year? Having 1 guy doing that is enough. Don't want QB carousel all year. Hopefully RGIII starts all 16 and Colt is solid backup.

No offense my friend but reading that makes me want to hurt myself. I am back in the world of Rex and Beck. IMO we need a REAL starting QB, not just a prayer that someone will work out. |

My personal opinion is giving RG3 and Cousins both opportunity to compete for the job this upcoming season...looks like this wont be the case. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I just don't think the QB position is getting "fixed" this year. IMHO - Scot McC is seeing what JG can do with the materials at hand. If he makes progress, he gets another year and maybe a new QB (or maybe the QB position is resolved with the materials at hand). If no progress, despite all the other upgrades, then out goes JG and in comes Scot McC's coach (whomever that may be).
Again, no quick fixes but rather patience and seeking a long term solution at all levels. Fan base is going to need to make some attitude adjustments on how to judge progress. |

We already know from experience that you can't win with that group. |

I'd rather have Griffin starting, because he is better, but one of them should be starting and one should not be on the team. Having all 3 is ridiculous to go thru again. It's like a clown car. Colt is a perfect #2. |

Not sure I agree. Last year was JG's first as a coach, there was no QB coach, and Bill Callahan wasn't here. In addition, the D was - well - terrible. Let's see if the QB play improves with a year in the new system and a dedicated QB coach. You may be right, the current QB's may be truly limited in their ceilings. If so, we address it next year. On the other hand, patience is a virtue - we simply can fix it all in a year and, at that position, it's important to do it right. Otherwise, we keep recycling crap. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Makes me wonder if having all 3 makes it easier to trade one away

We need to focus less on depending on QB play and more on our other areas. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I don't have a problem w/ Colt coming back. He is what he is. He can come in and win a game or two if needed. Nothing more, nothing less.
They must draft someone after Winston and Mariota. Get a young guy in the mix. They can't go with the same three guys again. I just think at the end of the day, at some point the owner has to look himself in the mirror and let go of his man crush on Griffin. You tried to hit a home run and swung and missed. He simply has too many flaws. I'd give him training camp and see where he's at. If he's not any better you have to move him. KC to me is the most capable guy on the roster. Not sure if that's saying much but he moves the offense, gets the wr involved and doesn't take a ton of sacks. I can live with his turnovers as long as there's improvement along the way. |

Well it looks like that's what they're doing/did. When Griffin is in there we don't see a pass over 10 yards. |

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that. Nonetheless, as for QB contributions to wins, we know already what the current QB group offers: nothing. We will once again have one of the worst QB groupings in the league if we stand pat. |

I like this better. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
We didn't win with Cousins anymore than we did with RG3 and RG3 turned the ball over way less, but lots of people seem to think Cousins is better. RG3 is better and has a higher ceiling.
Trade Cousins, trade down, draft a starting right tackle and free safety. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Something tells me there will be 3 team draft day trade where we end up with Sam Bradford😞

True about FA. Same is true in the draft in terms of instant starters. IMO we should swap first round picks with the Iggles, picking up Sam Bradford in the process. We also should draft a rookie to groom like Sean Mannion in the middle rounds. Thus we have a starter caliber player for this year (although no world beater) and an eye on the future. Trading in this way with the Iggles would still leave us with pick #20, where right tackles, pass rushers, and maybe even Landon Collins would be available. So we fix QB - albeit maybe only temporarily - and still improve elsewhere with a first round talent. |

He more fragile than Griffin. No way would I want that guy. He's talented but even when healthy it's been mixed results. I'm with you on Mannion. |

I don't think we would get a high pick. But we don't need the 3 ring circus again. Even if we can just get back a 4th or 5th rounder, take it. You can find a starting right guard there if you draft the right guy. |

If we got a 6th rounder for him, I'd be shocked. |

Hopefully they are actively exploring the opportunity to move him. It would be good for Cousins and our team. A 6th probably isn't worth pulling trigger though. I just don't want all 3 on the roster. The dynamic seems too dysfunctional. Hopefully RG3 takes the reins and runs with them this off season. The arm talent is so damn awesome if he could get the mental side rolling. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
The Redskins just resigned Colt McCoy. Now they have the same QBs they had last season.

He much as a risk as RG3 at this point. Maybe a team like the Bears or Browns will won't to draft Marcus Marriota at 5 . I would listen to them and the Browns do have 2 first round picks this year. I'm not moving down past 15th pick. |

No way. We'll win a minimum of 6 games. That defensive line has been upgraded dramatically. However, six may also be the maximum wins as well...lol |

Have it your way. Six wins. Still not good enough. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
In a world where Rex Grossman can take you to the Big Dance...anything is possible. Granted, these guys do not appear to be diamonds in the rough, but put a better line in front of them, and good things will be realized. A little coaching up and JG hopefully installing more of his guys in place. SM at the helm of the talent ship.
For the time being, I'm feeling better about this team than I have in years......HTTR |

Anyone with SB dreams this year is going to be disappointed. It's year 1 of building this shit the right way. I'm almost going to hope for another top 10 pick to get this team stocked up again. |

Yeah, the way I see this year is that you'll see a team that is much more competitive than what has been put out on the field the last two seasons. However, despite the competitiveness, I don't think that is going to equate into more wins (more than six that is.) But I think we'll see progress on the field. with that said, to have another top 10 pick would be great. |
