Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
the dolphins are a bit under rated. they haven't been flashy, but they've been competent. I've love for the skins to come out with a win, but I really don't know what to expect right now. gut says the phins are a better team right now, but this is still a winnable game.

I feel good about the season now. When espn ranks you last, that usually means you aren't that bad and you end up ascending. Rejoice 'skins fans! |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I don't think it's going to be very pretty. The Dolphins are a good football team, very sound on the defensive line (obviously) but they have some OL questions. If they can generate a running game and protect Tanneyhill it's going to be a quick day for the Skins.
31-16 Dolphins |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
To those citing kirks better pre snap reads and quick to get rid of the ball traits, while I agree, suh and wake are both nasty as hell so I'm still worried

I think that pre snap thing is just like Andy Dalton. I read an article by Peter King where NFL executives and coaches said Andy Dalton was almost on the same level as Manning and Brady with pre snap reads, but was one of the worst QBs when reading an offense post snap. I think Kirk might have that syndrome. |

This is very accurate. He is great when things are post snap as he predicts pre-snap. When he has to make decisions on the fly when things change he's a disaster waiting to happen. |

Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
that game against SF was awesome we actually kicked ass the entire game.
The dallas game was better though because they had a chance at the playoffs that yr as well and we destroyed them |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
Imagine what this board (and the Phins board) would look like if we somehow torched the Phins by 30. Folks here will be talking playoffs and the Phins phans will want to phry Philbin over a phire. (I didn't really write that; someone took over my keyboard.) And we'd all be crazy.

Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I don't want to say we lose until I see Kirk play the whole game, I believe he can be our Andy Dalton of this offense, nothing special but a good QB

When we win by 20, we should be able to change our season record prediction. |

Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
Week 1 Kool-Aid is always the strongest. 28-13 Redskins. Keep reading about their front, I think our pass rush will get to them. We can make Tannehill make some mistakes.

sdskinsfan2001 reading your signature makes me want to wear a Dolphins Ray Finkle Jersey to the game Sunday..
|
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I am predicting 21-17 Skins.
Defense is improved and holds them to 17 or less. Kirk manages the game and does a nice job getting the ball out quick and spreading it around. Djax will get a quick 6, Matt Jones will get a goal line carry and get his first TD. Jordan Reed catches a pass over the middle for 6 before pulling a hammy. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
A lot of question marks going into this game on defense for me.
I have to assume the defense will better if only because they were so bad last year. w/ Hatcher+Knighton+Paea+Ryan we have a strong front on paper. But how will Barry use them? Can another pass rusher emerge from Trent Murphy, Preston Smith and my fav of the trio Jeffcoat? Will we get the Dash from Tampa or the Dash from the 49ers? Will Hall look better then he's looked during preseason? Will Amerson get his play to match with his talent? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Miami only had average run defense last year. I'm sure Suh makes them better in this regard but on the ground is their most vulnerable area. I guess we'll see if all the talk about a strong running game and sticking to run holds true. Kirk has to protect the ball. The coaches have to call a gameplan to protect him, they can't put this game all on his shoulders. When we throw Kirk's ability to get the ball out quick is gonna be paramount because the Maimi pass rush is formidable. Game plan should account for this accordingly with RB screen, WR screens and RB draws and movement passes. No turnovers! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Crowder and the return team needs to give us better starting field position. Starting field position can really help scoring. Starting a drive from the 20+ instead of -20 is often the difference between a punt and a field goal. Game changers--Score on special teams or defense. Defense creating a turnover. Big explosive 30-40+ yard TD on offense. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
13-9 Dolphins. We can only manage 3 field goals when Capt. Kirk isn't turning the ball over or having 3 and outs. Somehow we hold a late lead 9-6 until Tannehill drives down the field at the end to score the game winning td. Suh and co. wreak havoc on our offensive line, to start off what turns into being the best free agent acquisition in history not named Manning or Brees.

Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
@Chris_Worthy_: Several INTs from the 1st and 2nd string QBs today. Should be a topic to bring up at 1:30 with Jay
|
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
Dolphins 24, Redskins 21.
KC goes 19 of 29 for 210 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs Running game is mostly ineffective averaging 3.5 yards a carry. Secondary plays well but gives up a few key plays. O-line looks rough but serviceable, gives up 3 sacks. Redskins hold 21-14 lead in mid 3rd quarter but Dolphins score 10 unanswered. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
Ah what the heck? Let's be optimistic before the reality sets in:
Redskins 31, Dolphins 23 Cousins looks better than expected -- 23 for 33 for 285 yards and 2 TDs, 1 INT Morris and Jones shred the Miami D for 175 yards on the ground (Morris 100 yards and 1 TD and Jones for 75 and 1 TD). Cobra Kai nails a 49 yarder. Suh gets into our backfield and comes away with 3 sacks in the first half, but then Jay wakes up and does bubble screens and a few shovel passes to neutralize it thereafter, leading to some good YAC for Jones and Morris. All the pundits chalk up the Redskins win to the Dolphins laying an egg rather than good play on our part, and the Redskins move up from a power ranking of 32 to 30. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
Wake/Suh & co. dominate our O-line, Tannehill has the time of his life v. our secondary... I don't see this one going well.
I'm with you.We gave up the 2nd most sacks in the league last yr and despite drafting an off lineman #1 it doesnt look improved. My gut feeling is the pressure forces Kirk into some turnovers. Unless Jay shows something on offense that he hasnt shown in preseason this looks like a loss to me. If I was the coach I would have Kirk running the pistol as much as possible to slow down the Dolphins pass rush and they wont be expecting it.I wouldnt have Kirk run with it as much as RG did in 2012,but he would need to keep it at least a couple times to make it legit.I do not fear injury on his part,he's smarter than Griff and not built like a stick. If we run the same vanilla offense I think they stuff the run and force Kirk into turnovers |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
OK -- 2015 team captains:
Offense: Trent Williams (hard to argue with this) Defense: Dashon Goldson (say wha...? no Kerrigan? DHall? a guy who just got here and may or may not be a solution at that position?) Teams: Tress Way (sure -- why not) I know it doesn't really matter, but Goldson seems an off choice. |

Sacks last year: Many of them were caused by RGIII's inability to operate in the pocket. OL Not Improved: That may take some time, but Moses looks improved and Scherff is a keeper, so it should get better in time. Vanilla Offense: Preseason is all about evaluating players, thus the vanilla offense. The major difference in our offense during the regular season will be seeing our big-time playmakers operate. All Kirk needs to do is get the ball into the hands of his playmakers on target and on time. |

woulda loved to have traded him. glad to see the young guys getting a chance to contribute. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I don't think Roberts is here next year. May be one of those things where they held onto him b/c rookies, well, are rookies. Crowder looked great but is he REALLY ready to step in? Would love to see him as the No. 3/slot guy by mid-year.
To me, Grant seems like he SHOULD be a slot receiver but I have read several reports saying he doesn't play the slot. |

Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I am concerned about the TE's impact on the run game.
Our TE situation was already sketchy in run blocking w/ Jordan as the starter and Compton as the blocking TE. One doesn't block well and the other can't catch, at all. Its a dead give away to the defense. Now with Compton banged up we're in a even tougher spot because we're forced to try and get TE McCoy ready to be blocking TE in a pinch. Its gonna be interesting to see how they approach the running game. Will base personnel runs work w/ Jordan blocking the POA? Will McCoy get enough plays down to contribute? Or will they use formations without a TE blocking the POA as the base of the run game. Other WCO teams like Seattle and GB often go I-Form 3 wide with no TE in their run game package. I hope they get the run game going somehow. |
Re: WEEK 1 : Redskins vs Dolphins Prediction Thread
I couldn't stand what Lavar Arrington said the other day about people just looking bad when they get to DC, mainly because I think he contributed to a fair amount of his own issues. In the season he played for the Giants (?) I don't recall him blowing anyone away. But.... man it seems like we get a lot of guys who never live up their potential.

It's going to be tough Sunday to run the edge if there's no one there to set the edge. Inside is dead with Suh there. I expect the running game to struggle but hopefully the passing game is clicking enough to keep MIA from bringing the house on every play.. |

What's even worse is that I just got a look at our schedule and couldn't figure who we can beat. Not one game where I could comfortably say: "OK, pretty sure we can win this one." Probably the most negative I've been in my 50 (!) years of being a Redskins fan. Man, I hope I'm wrong about this... HTTR |

On the plus side that sounds like a decent movie plot anyway.. Hangover 4? |

When did the Dolphins become the 85 Bears? I expect a close game, I don't think the Dolphins are nearly as good as some seem to think and the Skins aren't nearly as bad as people think.
