Re: Skins vs Ravens prediction thread
cousins needs to get the ball down field...last week he only had 2 completions that went more than 10 yards through the air against a relatively weak secondary.
Check downing and dink and dunk...any QB can do that. But franchise ones get the ball down field to their playmakers. |

We have a pretty good line, but it's not Dallas'. It's like we'll do max protect and then send Jackson on a go route. Don't think we have the line to hold up for a long of different routes. |

If you are accurate and quick you can cause nightmares for opposing defenses by "dinking and dunking". Who gives a crap how we are doing it as long as we are putting a 30 spot up? Edit: he is sixth in total yards right now, and over the last couple weeks he might be first - or pretty damn close.... I'm living in yesterday's tomorrows |

I'm living in yesterday's tomorrows[/quote] Because it can cost you games like the Dallas loss...he missed what, 3 throws down field for TDs? This is a bad way of thinking...being able to consistently push the ball downfield...ie both medium range (10-25) and long range (25+ through the air) are vital to keeping defenses honest and off balance. Specifically for the passing game you get your Corners to play soft off the WRs, you get safety play back in 2 deep zones, and you get the underneath stuff to open up and be more effective. And specifically for the running game, the secondary plays back so that second level support takes longer to get there. Franchise QB who can be accurate in medium and deep throws take offenses to the next level. |

Kirk hits there and we win - without the deep ball. We are 3-1 without the deep ball being prevalent. Of course I want to see him hitting long short medium - etc. as far as stretching the field DJax is going to do that anyway. I think our running game has been fairly effective last couple weeks without the deep ball. Its all about moving the chains. Bottom line. Kirk will connect on the deep ball plenty over the course of this season. Like Matty pointed out there were to PI calls on deep balls. That is as good as a catch. Cousins is just absolutely not the problem right now. Nor is the offense. We need Preston Smith, Kerrigan, Murphy to get some serious heat on opposing qb's. if we can muster that we can win plenty of games with our current offense doing exactly what it is doing. |
Re: Skins vs Ravens prediction thread
Basically f&$k Baltimore and all the talking heads right now. We have played a tougher schedule than them to this point. In the only common opponent game we were more impressive. So sick of people acting like the Ravens are world beaters. Ray Lewis is looooong gone. Their defense is shit. Their offense is shit. This will be our easiest win to date.

Look what Philly is doing with ONE elite player. Their LB corps isn't that great, but their defense is what, top three? |

Agreed 1000%. This is why we need our olb's to step it up big time. Not saying edge rushers are a bigger problem than beef in the middle. However they are the bigger solution simply by default. We are going to get gashed up the middle on the run. I see no solution with the current roster for this - so....we disrupt their passing game. Put up 30 points and you can somewhat lessen the blow of getting gashed by the run because we are going to force teams to go to the air - if - big if - we can put pressure on the qb and disrupt their passing game. |
Re: Skins vs Ravens prediction thread
I think we'll have a better game against the run this week. If you look at the metrics, the Browns offensive line is superior to the Ravens in run blocking. Yanda is their only beast. Personally, I'd love to get Spaight in there and just have him attack downhill.

I have given up all hope of having a good game against the run. For two years now we have been turning journeymen running backs into hall of famers on a weekly basis. I swear if a team just ran it up the middle on every play they would beat us. Slow the game, keep our offense off of it, and gash us into a slow painful death. Lol. |
Re: Skins vs Ravens prediction thread
Damn. Looks like Kenneth Dixon will play.

An opposing team's running game won't matter if the defense continues to get takeaways and our offense takes advantage off those opportunities like in the last game. Our offense has the ability to outscore most teams, add to that the takeaways by the offense, and our team can win games this way. |

The defense is banged up and they are going to give up a lot of yards. But they will cause turnovers and every now and then will have key stops. We're not going to have a good defense for the rest of the season and that is a reality. But we have a defense that will do enough (i.e. turnovers) to allow our best unit (the offense) to win games. |

Just remember that Eli has a habit of turning over the ball and well the Browns are cursed. The ironic thing is that we tried so hard to strip the ball last week that we forgot to tackle. It almost cost us the game. So again - just be fundamentally sound and hope the deflections and drops bounce our way. Dont go into a game thinking you are going to give up chunks of yardage but it doesn't matter because were gonna get the ball before they score. Lol |

Haha hence the "IMO" I'm not saying Kouandjio is better, I'm just surprised with how good he played, and with a good young player behind him, Lauvao can not sit back and relax (maybe "better step up his game" was too strong of a statement ^^) |
