Kirk Cousins 365 thread
For everyone who is OK with watching KC leave, I ask you to consider (I think I have everyone since we won a Superbowl):
RGIII Rex Grossman John Beck Jason Campbell Mark Brunell (the old one) Donovan McNabb (same) Todd Collins Patrick Ramsey Tim Hasselbeck Shane Matthews Danny Wuerffel Tony Banks Jeff George Brad Johnson (well, that might have worked out) Trent Green (same) Gus Frerotte Jeff Hostetler Heath Shuler John Friesz So we have a QB that has broken most franchise records, led us to consecutive winning seasons in I-can't-remember-how-long, was top 5 in most statistical categories in the league this year, is by all accounts a super teammate and all around good guy. . . and folks would let him go for a few picks? Honestly, I do not get this. Unless you have a once-in-a-few decades defense, no team has won it all without a franchise QB.
I agree. When you have a guy that can play, and play very well, you don't let him walk. The cap isn't an issue, I don't know how many more times it needs to be said but we can afford to sign him and still make plenty of improvements. Washington Redskins no longer have issues with salary cap - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN |

But, remember, they reached this point by not spending crazily.
To be clear, signing KC at anything 25 (FT for next year is 33) and below is not spending crazily on the qb position, and we need to lock him up to stop it from being crazy next year. We have good cap space, a good offense, we just need to fix the defense. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
You have to ask yourself if KC even wants to be here. Judging from Rich Cambell's tweets, you can sense this exact thing. It's not hard to read between the lines. (especially with the shot in the back reference)

So we have a QB that has broken most franchise records, led us to consecutive winning seasons in I-can't-remember-how-long, was top 5 in most statistical categories in the league this year, is by all accounts a super teammate and all around good guy. . . and folks would let him go for a few picks? Honestly, I do not get this. Unless you have a once-in-a-few decades defense, no team has won it all without a franchise QB.
Nobody wants Kirk Cousins gone. But, there's a real possibility that he could sign with another team. So knowing that, I can't see how any of us would be OK with the idea of just letting him walk and getting nothing in return? So yeah, if the 'skins are dumb enough to let him go, at least tag him with the non-exclusive so the team gets something in return. That's all I'm saying. Otherwise, I'm all about the Redskins offering Cousins a great deal that keeps him in Washington. |

He's basically a front office cheerleader at this point. |

I hope in terms of personnel, whether it be coaching or players, that Scot McCloughan, for better or worse, has total control. Like you said, hopefully Bruce Allen is just a front office cheerleader. He's good with dealing with all the political stuff surrounding the team, but I hope he stays out of the player personnel stuff. |

I myself have never felt like Dan has wanted KC here as his starter. I believe that it is because it is a constant reminder of how his grand idea of RG3 failed. Not sure how much "power" Bruce / Scott has in the grand scheme of things, but who do you think would really win if it came down to it? When Gruden made the decision to install Cousins as the starter, we had all those stories of how Dan was "livid" and basically had to be calmed down and pacified from completely going nuts. I'm just saying Dan, to me, is the ultimate X factor. You never know what he will decide at the most inopportune moment. Still would not put it past him to send his possible franchise QB packing if he thinks he has a better idea. It sounds dumb to us, but we have watched his dumb decisions essentially since 1999. |

Rich Tandler did everything but outright state that Snyder is preventing a deal from happening. As for Bruce Allen, I doubt that he is influencing Snyder very much. He seems to have become Snyder's equivalent of Smithers. |

The three that can recall were George, Ramsey and of course RG3. All terrible, awful failures. He doesn't know a good QB when he sees one. He even had a hard on for Mark Sanchez. The guy needs to stay as far away from the QB table as humanly possible. |

Well, there you have it. Dan Snyder is what will be the reason why Cousins walks this year. Dan Snyder will also be the reason why we are never going to amount to $hit. This is truly classic Dan stuff right here. |

Well, Snyder doesn't have to like Cousins. I don't think JKC liked Mark Rypien. But, what Snyder does have to do is trust that the football guys in the front office are making the best decisions. I realize it's "Snyder's" money, but of all people, he should know that when it comes to business (and Kirk's contract is business) you don't get rich or get ahead by not taking chances. This is one of those opportunities that Snyder has available to him to show his staff and the fans that he really has changed and he's got confidence in the guys he's placed in charge. If he truly is blocking the deal from going through, then he has learned nothing from the past 15+ years, and that this franchise is doomed. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Talked to a uber driver today in San Francisco, he told me the rumor is skins will tag and trade kirk to SF for their 1St and 3rd. With a defensive starter. He said he's heard it for a week now. Where is SS when we need him??

Sporting news also reports they want kirk |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Well the KC to SF rumors are definitely out there. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. The Redskins FO has been real quiet since the season ended. Nothing from SM at all.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
It's probably because of the Kyle Shanahan connection. I'm sure he does want Kirk Cousins, but it sounds a bit far off to me that the 49ers would be willing to give up their #2 pick and a 3rd for Cousins. If this is the case, then slap the non-exclusive tag on Cousins and force the 49ers out of a second first rounder pick.

I'm sure they do, and our FO is unbelievably leak proof right now, so who knows what's valid. |

Shanahan was hated in Denver and will screw it up in SF by trading his entire defense and three first rounders for Kirk and then sign RGIII to a long term contract. Mark it down. Denver oil men don't lie. |

Yes, let's get a rookie qb and wait another 3 years for him to mature into a good qb, seems like a solid plan. |

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I have a theory, we will trade KC to SF for a 1 and a 3. We will trade the 3 to the Bengals for there DC. This will reunite two long lost buddies. We use SF 1 on a dual threat qb and our original 1 on a defensive player. The dual threat QB will be knocked out by the end of the year and we will bring in Johnny Football. Scot will give him another chance and he will be the starter the following year. We will go 8 - 8 the next two years and Jay will be canned for no being able to get over the hump.

Are you deliberately trying to curse this franchise? Only way this situation gets worse is if Dan announces he's fired Jay and is taking over the head coach job himself. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I love how speculation can turn into a hard rumor. People need to back up off the rumor pipe and chill.
