True. This is an area where Smith will be an improvement.
But what is also true is Kirk took more and more shots down the field throughout the season, threw some 50/50 like he was asked to... And Doctson dropped many of those... Several TDs... Our receiver corps didn't deliver last season. No excuse.
With the quality of our cornerbacks the practice field was perfect for experience. Kirk should have just been throwing balls up all day for Doctson to learn how to battle and keep balls against NFL level CBs. I am really hoping Smith works on rhythm then builds up WR confidence. That is why part of me hopes they keep Pryor and give him at least a chance. Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk |

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
*Just trying to bring life to other subjects than our former QB*
I feel like this year we need to go offense in FA, and defense in the draft. Mainly because we need to put weapons around Smith and I don't see a lot of real difference makers available at positions of need for us on the defense: - I was all for making a push to sign Jarvis Landry, now that he's tagged, who do you guys like at WR ? Sammy Watkins? Paul Richardson? Marqise Lee? Not sure I know enough about any of these guys to get really excited, but we need a sure number one WR. - If we don't spend huge money on a WR, do we make a push for guard Andrew Norwell ? Cooley loves the guy, he'd be a huge upgrade over Lauvao. - At RB I like Crowell, maybe Deion Lewis? - Among possibilities on the defensive side of the ball are Dontari Poe (if we're gonna stay in a 3-4, get proven NT who's not that old) and LaMarcus Joyner (he played safety last season but played slot CB a lot, he could be used at a fair price to replace Fuller). On thing's for sure, after finding a viable and immediate solution at QB, I don't want another year of McClains and McGees . Get a few playmakers and build through the draft. We can compete now. I'd also like us to trade down in the first to get a 3rd back, or even another 2nd. If we don't get significant playmaking defenders during FA, we need to increase chances to get them in the draft. |

I might have before the AS trade, but between the loss of the 3rd and wanting to add a CB to the draft class (if not through FA) the 4th begins to be a valuable pick. |

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
Trey Burton could be a good TE pickup
|
Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
WR Michael Campanaro is a UFA who could really help our team. He is a capable 4th WR type but he is an outstanding PR/KR. Last season he was 4th in PR average at over 10 yards per return with 1 PR TD. He was also 2nd in KO return average. We are, as usual, badly in need of a capable PR. Campanaro would not be expensive.

Trey Burton is Reed Light. Granted, Burton would probably be on the field much more often than Reed. OK, go ahead and sign Burton if you must but, if you do, trade Reed. Seriously, could we please just forget about TE receiving stats and sign a blocking TE? We need a blocking TE to help get our running game going. Jay Gruden is going to run the ball on every first down and everyone in the league knows that so there's no need to have a receiving threat TE in the game on that down. We need the blocking instead. |

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
No we need TEs that can do both. We don’t want a personnel package on the field that broadcasts our intention to either run or pass.

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
He’s one of many guys I’m excited to get a look at in year two of their careers. It can be such a difference from year one to year two in terms of development.
Sprinkle, Roullier, Montae, Moreau, and good Lord Jonathan Allen. Could turn out to be a hell of a draft class if they step forward the way Ioannidis and Fuller did. |

Dude is the best blocking TE we have. If he can get stronger and more polished on his route running, he could make defenses play us honest and potentially have a huge impact. I have to say, I've been really disappointed in VD. That dude is so strong, so athletic, so fast. There is no excuse for how poorly he blocks week to week. |

We haven't had a TE who can do both in decades, so what makes you think the Skins will all of the sudden find one? Besides, the opponent's defense almost always loads up vs.the Skins on 1st down and our genius HC calls a running play into the teeth of the D. So, we might as well have a role player at TE who can block. |

Per JLC
NFL's top 10 $ spenders in '17: DET, CAR, GB, JAX, MIA, CHI, CLE, SF, ATL, WSH Only 3 teams made playoffs. Only JAX won more than 1 PS game How did we spend that much??? I don't buy that shit. Pryor was cheap, DJ cost 4M and Kirk 24M. Brown maybe 5M? |

That's what I'm trying to figure out, this was all he posted. How would we have spent top 10 $ last yr? It can't be with Free agency because we didn't spend that much so I'd imagine KC took most of that. |
Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
Can you link to his post please? I will look and try to determine based on his source.
He probably means highest payroll, not just biggest offseason spending. Remember, we had to sign a shitload of guys off the street just to make it through all the injuries. |

Lions (122% of cap) were highest cash spenders" |
Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
If you go to Overthecap.com, look at the Cash Spending, then sort by Total Cash spending column, You get JLC's list of teams, EXCEPT, the Eagles are in the top 10, and 49er's arent. The active cash spending gives a different list of teams.

Also, we are in the bottom half when looking at cash to cap ratio, which means that while we spent cash, we didn't blow out our salary cap doing it (I think that is what it means) |

Yeah, personally I like how he left the Eagles off. Kinda blows away his argument if the SB winner did it by throwing a ton of cash and going into "cap hell" the next off season |
