Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
I feel like in rounds 3/4 you're still looking for guys with strong chance to start.
We picked clear backup guys at both spots. Although I do get the Geron Christian pick as Ty is gone after this year and we had injuries at both tackle spots. |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
I really want to trade up for Hurst at this point.
|
I couldn't tell but can he be a returner? With that speed, might make for some good punt returns.
I think I read something about him not having great hands. |

ahh, ok |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
What’s up with Crosby the Tackle from Oregon? Why is he still there?
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
How the fuck Maurice Hurst still available. This is ridiculous.
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Trade up right now for Crosby or Hurst. Talk about solid depth in the trenches and future starters.
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Heart condition that will eventually require career ending surgery
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Crosby and Hurst are good examples of teams minimizing risk reward in the 4th round. The 4th is where you want that hidden gem that someone else might snatch. The 5th and 6th are where you get those guys that might have a flyer issue

But what is Crosbys issue and I thought Hurst was cleared? |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
See, I read that and get syked. He sounds like a guy who is going to go to the mat and do what the team needs. Combine that with the physical skills he clearly has, and our DB coach (who I also think is outstanding) and I see a guy who could explode in the NFL. Maybe not, but he has 2years solid ST experience which makes him valuable while he learns from our strong core players.
Thanks for the read.
There aren't any draft cut-ups of just Apke (only highlights). But, if you go back and look at the Penn State secondary he played the deep FS position more often then Marcus Allen. He can cover slot receivers. He's a freak athlete; that can't be undersold when it comes to play centerfield FS. Last year was his only season as starter and he was solid but he has tons of potential.
Troy Apke, S, Penn State Apke wasn’t one of the bigger names at safety coming into the combine but he graded positively on the year both in coverage and as a run defender. During the season, Apke was at his best in slot coverage and he was only targeted once for every 8.8 coverage snaps in the slot, tied for 19th among all draft-eligible defensive backs. Apke stole the show on the final day of the combine when he ran a 4.34 40-yard dash to lead the safety group. He also had an explosive 41-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot-11 broad jump. Apke also showed off the change of direction ability that helps him cover in the slot with his 6.56 three-cone. Apke is having a strong draft season, as he was one of the standouts of the NFLPA Bowl, where he had an interception and two run stops. Perhaps no player in Indianapolis will have talent evaluators going back to the film more than Apke in order to see if his testing numbers are apparent in his play on the field.
https://www.landof10.com/penn-state/2018-nfl-draft-penn-state-troy-apke-nflpa-game-mvp [YT]k5-SIUySc9c[/YT] |

I don't know, I assume the GM's must have something holding them back. I assume he will go this round like Hurst just did. |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
And Shaquem Griffin. To the Seahawks (with his brother). That is awesome.

I hear ya. Gotta be something. Anyway I hope he falls. |

Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Wyatt Teller anyone?
Not necessarily now, but next round..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Dallas traded for Tavon Austin... a bit scary
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Holton Hill would be great if he lasts a few more picks.

Yeah - not good. Very fast dude. I wonder if they’re still thinking of Earl Thomas in a trade with Seattle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Yes!!! Tim Settle!!
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Tim Settle DT I know some on here knocked him, but at the bottom of the 5th seems like a decent positional take.
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Hell yeah, I like Tim Settle here. A lot.

Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Big boy Tim Settle! Watch out offensive lines and RBs, we are ready for ya!

Risk reward. Sapp. Moss. So many countless others. He doesn’t bring that kind of reward but in the 5th we aren’t taking that kind of risk. Either way Settle is a good pick. Beef beef and more beef. |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Now that's a fucking pick. Leggggggoo!!!!!!!
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Sounds like our best assistant coaches are getting some good raw talent to see what they can do with them. I think that's a good thing
Apke, DB Settle, DT Geron Christian, OT |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
I like the da'ron payne pick more now Tim Settles in DL rotation
|
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
I'm boosted about Settle. I was looking at him as a later round option if we missed out on Vea or Payne. But you have him as a depth guy is fucking legit.
He was graded as a 2nd rounder early on, but looked like straight poop at the combine, but if he doesn't have to be a starter dude has some juice. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
Settle is a great pick after making the worst pick in the forth round.
