Been calling for it awhile...I just want to see Alex on the move, its a strong part of his game.

There was another comment from Finlay that Reed was pissed and yelling at the Falcons bench, that explains why he was absent during the Vernon Davis sequence, getting all the passes till it was intercepted. Maybe Gruden benched Reed to cool him off.

I was pissed on draft day when we did not get a LG.
I was more pissed when we signed FA PRichardson an injury prone WR for a ton of money.
I was even more pissed when re-signed an Injury prone LG Lauvao that we cut and nobody else wanted. We singed him because we had no other choice. Our FO and Coaching staff thought Kouandjio should be our starter. WTF! Kouandjio sucks.
Back before the season started I said neither Richardson or Lauvao would NOT make it through the whole season...why? Because of their track record. They are very injury prone. Why do we keep signing players like this?

I can't help but wonder what that was like today. Did they show up and Gruden looked at his checklist and said "check mark, all candidates have 2 arms and legs each. Book 'em boys."

Or maybe it was the opposite of the famous AP workout. Maybe the rest of the group was so awful these guys stood out by being slightly less awful.

i actually wanted them to sign cooper during the offseason and see if he is a fit with the scheme or not . . .he was bad in AZ, good in Dallas and then bad in san fran . . . who knows?!!?!?

Austin Howard has 88 NFL starts. He's not going to be Trent Williams but he should be an upgrade over Christian this year.

Cooper is a former top ten pick with some good years but a lot of injuries. Hopefully some time off helped him get right.

Bowanko played 16 games last year for the Ravens, not much else on him.

These aren't CFL players trying to make it in the NFL, these are professionals that aren't very good like the rest of our roster.

Injury News: Scherff, PRichardson, and Lauvao Out for the Year

Honestly even with them our ceiling was a 10-6 division title and very likely first round exit. That was the ceiling. It is a respectable year but it is no championship. It is a disappointment for real contenders actually. Lol. So I am just not going to let this news devastate me. I would have been more crushed drinking all the kool aid that ceiling would have brought with it just to be bought back down to Earth with a loud thump.
The cold hard facts are that we are several pieces away from being a real contender and they include quarterback and head coach.

Wow, this is insane:

"The Redskins signed Richardson in the offseason to a five-year deal worth up to $40 million, wanting more speed at receiver. He had suffered a torn ACL in Seattle during a playoff game in 2015, but it was his shoulder that spoiled his first Redskins season. He hurt it early in training camp and eventually the bone started to become visible, almost poking through his skin. Richardson insisted on playing despite the issue, but it required having his shoulder numbed before games."

From Keim's column: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25187470/washington-redskins-lose-brandon-scherff-shawn-lauvao-paul-richardson-jr-season

Nope, o-linemen need their hands to grab, pull, punch, and push. D-linemen can play with a club in their hands, o-linemen, not so much.

This team is already addled with cancer starting in the FO and coaching. If the team doesn’t wanna help itself fine, but the whole “Dez is a cancer” I’m not willing to buy until they work him out and talk to him.

Because our front office sucks really bad a managing two positions; QB and WR.

I wonder what Scot saw that they took Doc over Thomas in the 2016 draft. Doc had better production but one has totally taken off in the NFL, while the other hasn't done anything.

Exactly! I don't know why Redskins fans can't get this through their heads....Bryant is a bad character guy....every NFL front office will forever recall those divisive tweets he tweeted about his former team....who says if things don't pan out with any team that signs him he won't repeat the same antics ?

Re: Injury News: Scherff, PRichardson, and Lauvao Out for the Year

Dez is not going to impact the Saints and he wouldn't impact the Redskins. The Saints record at the end of the year will be the same if they sign Dez as it would be if they don't.

I'm more interested in Jay Gruden at this point. You can bookmark this point in the season. If he's worth his salt as a coach, he'll pull the ship into the harbor with a 9-7 record or better.

You lose your best linemen then absolutely it makes an impact. But good coaches scheme up a way. We're going to find out if Manusky can put a defensive product on the field consistently - which of course reflects on Gruden because he chose him. And we're going to find out if Gruden is creative enough to scheme a way around the offense's shortcomings.

Injuries are going to hurt you. The best coaches still find a way.

Schneed10 11-06-2018 08:44 AM

Re: Injury News: Scherff, PRichardson, and Lauvao Out for the Year

In other words if we go 4-4 in the second half of the season I'll feel very meh about Gruden (kind of like I do now).

If we go 5-3 then I'll be satisfied that we've got the right coach. If we go 3-5 or worse, then it's time to can him, because it will tell us he's too dependent on his top flight talent and will never get over the proverbial hump.

Teams have injuries , the good teams overcome them. Philly did last yr, NE always does etc. They suck to hit a team but its the NFL, it is bound to happen to everyone. Losing BS really sucks but the other guys had none to very little impact. If Trent can come back sooner that would be great. Skins just need to stay playing tough defense, we dont play a potent pass attack like NO , ATL anymore. TB has weapons but Fitz is no where near Brees or Ryan level. The stretch of Giants, Jags , Tenn and Philly will determine the season.

I'm over Gruden ( I meh on him before) but he doesn't have the fire he needs to win going away, or spark the rally when needed.

This season likely another lost hope because of these injuries.

The fact that we are 0-3 this yr after trailing just 7-0 is sad, that tells u we have no game adjustments handy and its basically on the defense to make plays and stop them from getting an early lead. Jay has shown since Sean left that he's not a great signal caller. I don't know who we would bring in but if we miss the playoffs he and BA have to go.

I don't see BA gone (and honestly I still think he runs effective interference with DS, although DS may have gotten the idea on how to really own a team)

in a minor defense of gruden, the fact that we haven't lost a lead says that he gets how to gameplan against teams strengths.

This is bad ,I wish the Redskins luck .I never enjoy when players get hurt and to lose all your linemen at one time is devastating but it's time to see if the back ups can step up . Last year when the Giants lost all their receivers there were literally dragging them off the street week to week.

The Skins have a good record and with some luck should still win the division .

I already decided it is time to clean house. Gruden and the front office, scouts etc. The future is bleak, they need help almost everywhere. Even if they win 10 games, they are a mediocre team....4 easy wins in the NFC east

I think there’s decent talent here. A big part of me thinks if we can’t go 10-6 with this roster the coaches should definitely be turned over.

It’s a shame because I think the world of Tomsula and Gray. But the direction would need to be changed.

But I want to give it a chance before I jump to conclusions. There’s enough to work with and some winnable games on the schedule. Let’s see if they can pull it off.

This is the play Scherff got injured on, don't see much but that's the best we can get (they showed nothing live and on the view from the endzone the camera follows the ball).
Just before the camera closes in on PR, you can see Scherff gets thrown to the ground (left bottom corner of your screen), don't know what happened next, so, 2 possibilities:

1) That's all there is, and cheap shot is kind of an over statement

2) He got hit again after that, and then why wasn't there a scuffle? If he was hit while on the ground, I want Moses in the defender's face, not in the ref's face!

Pretty hard to tell from that angle but it looks like the defender threw him to the ground. As the ref would say, inconclusive. The damage is done regardless. Thanks for digging that up though.
