I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want Bezos as an owner. I listened to him on the Fan yesterday and he was mostly spewing BS. Went on about how horrible the Redskin name is. Well, Michael Wilbon, if that is true, please tell us why you were a regular commentator on Redskins Report for years? |
We already know Snyder is a proven loser. I'm fine with getting him out at any cost.
He has a 20 year track record of losing and he's the only constant in this era of futility. Just having him out as owner will bring back fans. |

Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
Wait a second ...
Should we really be calling them "minority owners"?? I mean ... that can be taken so many ways. And not many of those ways are really ... good. We are trying to be a non-offensive franchise now, right?
Oh stop man. Stop trying to act like social inequality is a joke. It is getting old. People are fighting for respect, dignity, and equality. But every time I turn around someone on this page is acting like it has no actual basis in fact. “Whats next eagles are going to be offended “ ? All that bullshit as if social inequality is a hoax. I mean I honestly can not wrap my head around the lack of understanding coming from so many posters on here. The willingness to down play it and act like we are the victims because our football team is going to change names. It is sickening. |
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
Personally, since this is just a sports team, I would just like Snyder to change the name and get on with it. There are some good choices out there and Snyder can either pick a bland name (Warriors, Red Hawk) or something more bold (Redtails, Warthog, Raptors, Mohawk).
Snyder is making this choice because of money. Eventually the teams website may try to play this as being Snyder’s idea. I distresses me that some folks think this is the end of the world sort of issue. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, which in the end will probably kill more Americans than in WWII. We are still involved in limited combat in two countries, although the press is not covering it too much. We also seeing more social upheaval in the U.S. than the late’60’s! This has been a TOUGH FREAKING YEAR. I really like the Redskins name, the team has a storied history. I understand why it hurts ppl who don’t want it to change. But it’s time, so Snyder make the decision, take the flack and false praise. Then everyone can get back to get ready for the PS and finally football! Just like the Draft tv program this year, which I thought was the best televised draft EVER (so much emotion and real life stories), versus the canned Vegas style hoopla of precious years. It may be different in some ways but: AMERICA NEEDS FOOTBALL THIS YEAR. Let’s get to it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
This was from yesterday...
@thomloverro Something strange is happening. What is it? Fred Smith led an effort to try to get Dan Snyder to sell the majority ownership of #Redskins to him and other investors, sources told me today. Snyder wouldn't budge. Now Smith and investors want out. |
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
Dan will never sell
|
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
Not unless the other NFL owners vote him out which I don't see happening right now. Not unless the franchise continues to hurt the overall NFL brand.
|
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
I wouldn't say never with Dan selling. $$ always talks. If it's true that most of his wealth is tied up in the team that means it's not liquid wealth. Cash is king. It's hard to think he's enjoying himself as owner. He's basically despised by the fans and other owners. He's a proven loser.
|
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
I posted this on the Redskins 2020 thread but I think it applies to this situation. Sheehan said over last 5 years the Skins had slowest economic growth by far of every NFL team (no real surprise). Yes still making money but like everyone else the team is an investment that has to be making the minority owners mad.

Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
If they change the name and announce a new stadium within the next year, that's a game changer. The value will increase. No way I'd sell the team now. Get the stadium announced then sell. You can say your legacy was getting the team back to D.C.

You got that right. He seems very stubborn though. I am no shrink, but I would speculate that coming from modest means and acquiring an NFL franchise while still on the young side of life gives the man a big enough ego to think he can still right the ship. |

And even before the nfl franchise, making his money off his telecom business. Hes not a dummy....just when it comes to football.. Which is unfortunate for all of us. |

DS grew up as a fan of the team.
It’s more than just about money. |

Where will that money for a new stadium come from, the cost would be in the 2.5 to 3 Billion range. |
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
Dan Snyder will never sell the controlling interest in the team. If you have visions of him doing so, you are smoking some bad stuff. Does anyone know how much the minority owners want for their shares?

That’s the wish. Everyone in Washington hates Snyder, but if he: 1. Makes a successful name change - let’s say to the Red Wolves, he has a name to be remembered for, that will outlast him. 2. New name helps him get a new stadium in D.C.. Think about it: Snyder offered Virginia, Maryland and D.C to build a stadium WITH HIS OWN MONEY. No one wanted it!! MEANWHILE, Other cities are adding new HIGHER taxes on their citizens in a rush to pay for a brand new $ Billion stadium for some billionaire owner, who certainly could afford it himself. Maybe with a name change Snyder may not have to build the stadium ONLY with his own money. 3. The team FINALLY starts winning. This all could happen in the next few years. At that point, the team is now worth $5 billion or more. Snyder becomes popular, at least to the powerful, because he is successful, finally. Snyder is only changing the name under extreme financial and political pressure. Don’t forget that in five years , when Snyder’s team wins a SB and he is no longer considered the biggest loser in the NFL. He may just luck into making the next right move for this franchise. He made the first move by firing Allen and hiring Rivera. The next big move is up to him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Minority Owners of the Skins Want Out.
BTW: the best way for Snyder to lose the team is to IGNORE the powerful moves to change the team’s name. He’s can’t delay, cry to the media or public or IGNORE this change . That’s what happens when your own buffoonery as an owner has led to 20 years of high levels of failure and no friends in the NFL, in the fans, nor media. His only “friends” are guys like Jerry Jones, who are happy to watch him mightily flounder and yearly lose two games a year to the Boys. Snyder foolishly thought that the minority owners were his “friends”, but they turned on him at the best and earliest opportunity. No one wants to buy into this team. I’m sure the minority owners - Captains of industry are just kicking themselves daily to be stuck to this tar baby team - a disastrous franchise and an owner who can’t do anything right, except to fire and fire Head Coaches.
If Snyder doesn’t move quickly on the name change, the NFL will move powerfully against him. The fans of this franchise would send 100,000+ emails, phone calls and love letters within a week to Goodell for even HINTING that they were looking at changing the team’s ownership. Snyder is like a tyrant of some faraway country that has abused his people WITH IMPUNITY for 2 decades. The people are rising up. Snyder has no friends in any politicians of the city, the media hates him and so do the team’s fans. Snyder still has a few toadies and employees that work for him. But If he does nothing on the name change by the start of the first game, the media and his many enemies will go to the NFL and their owners who HATE BAD PUBLICITY. They will savage their old fellow owner over this issue. No one likes an incompetent loser, even if he is a billionaire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
