Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
This is why Chase is a difference maker in this D, #2 overall in sacks, hopefully #1 after the Steelers game.

Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
If the WFT rises to the occasion, they can surprise the Steelers. But the DL MUST put heavy pressure on Big Ben right from the start, without having to blitz a lot. The offense must run well and Alex must continue to keep his medium/long passing game fluid. He is playing his best football when he stays flexible and doesn’t get into the rut of his reflex, dink and dunk passing game.

I wish there wasn't so much talk about an upset. Hard to be a trap when everyone seems to be expecting it.

When you run WELL you win. Simply running a lot isn't necessarily enough. This is where our rejuvenated OL really can carry the day (pardon the pun). |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Trap game or reality check?
Skins 14-31 Steelers |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
I think we're a better team now then we were at the beginning of the year when we were getting blown out every week.
Still gonna be a reality check though. 28-20 Steelers. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Nothing would satisfy me more than putting Big Ben on his ass most the game. Pressure him all game
Cooley’s Dallas game tape breakdown of Alex Smith said he played like a JAG. Missed seeing several wide open receiver big play and touchdown throws. He said Isaiah Wright should have caught 2 td, that Alex didnt throw him the ball for some reason.
Alex will need to play better to beat Pittsburgh
Well I’m not surprised. I think a lot of people on here were so giddy after whipping Dallas’s ass that they gave Smith a complete pass |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Smith wasn't very good but the dude is still rusty from 2 years off damn near.. Also he's always been a checkdown king so I'm not surprised.

Alex will need to play better to beat Pittsburgh
I don't care. They scored 34 points. My guess is he stayed within the game plan, and if you beat a team (I don't care who) 41 - 16, and you don't have to throw the ball down the field to do that...Good... |

Actually, watching the Baltimore Pittsburg Wednesday game, one thing I was surprised by is how Big Ben looked really rattled at times, he didn't look nearly as confortable as I remember him looking under pressure... If our D plays a full 60 minutes game and our DL produces real pressure, I don't think he's the QB to make crazy throws with 2 guys wrapped around him anymore... |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
But how legitimate are they going to still be without Bud Dupree?
Good question, I think they still have a solid D, and a solid front. But we're definitely playing them banged up, Roethlisberger is questionnable with a knee injury. |

It would be great if the running game can lead us to another win vs Pittsburgh and Smith isn’t pressured to make plays. I don’t see that happening and the Dallas performance by Smith will not be acceptable to get the W this coming week. |

We're gonna lose if we go one-dimensional and Smith has to carry this offense. At the same time, it's gonna be tough running the ball because the Steelers have a great D that already makes it hard to run against. So Smith is gonna have to step up to some degree anyway. |

I think once a team gets to so many wins and hasn’t lost, every week there is talk about an upset because going undefeated is so incredibly hard. I doubt Rivera et al care one bit about any of that. We will need to play our best game of the year to have a chance. And we will need to win the turnover battle first and foremost. Pitt thrives on turnovers, having generated more than any other team, and we need to flip that script. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I hate you COVID. We should be playing in 16 minutes. Now I have to record the game and turn my phone off.
I need someone to fill in for me in the gameday thread with excessive cussing and anger. Thanks in advance. |

Me too but I doubt it. Ben has been running the Tom Brady special this year with quick short and intermediate routes before pass rush can get to him. Going to be an interesting game. |

Nah. Cashing out my sick time and time off on my next check. I'll just turn my phone off. I can go 1 week without using gameday thread. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Tomorrow went from a win would be great, to it almost being a necessity. Losing to the Giants twice was no bueno.

Could very well be what prevents them from making the playoffs. Still 9 games left to play for both teams though. |

Not a huge surprise, but seeing him play last week and knowing he has a banged up knee makes me see how we can have a shot in this game. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
With the Giants win, the pressure is on. Normally, I would expect them to completely fold in a game like this, but for some reason I am feeling fairly optimistic.
On D, the back 7 need to have their game of the year. On O, while I know they will need to run the ball to win the game, I am expecting a big game from the wide receivers and Logan Thomas. |

Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Cause of the start time I’m gonna miss opening hour.
I’m really interested to see how far we have really come along. Should be a measuring stick on for our young guys with individual match ups. Hope we can compete |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
I can only watch the first half live. Won't listen to the radio or look at the phone so I can watch the 2nd half on DVR.
The media has really been on our bandwagon this week. Someone will beat the Steelers, may as well be us. We really need it after NJ surprised Seattle yesterday. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Ive watched parts of the last 2 Steelers games .. seems like high volume short passes (?). Seems like us and the entire league is high volume short pass attack.
Really hope we can get pressure and actually get home on Big Ben. Good test for our over achieving O line. Wouldnt not be surprised if Steelers front 7 dominates the LOS. Good test for Turner to see if he game plans well for them and if he has some adjustments in mind if our O line struggles, we cant run the ball or injuries. ------------- Food for the game? I normally grill or roast some type of meat on Sundays ... kinda thrown off by this Monday 5 pm start bc I grilled yesterday. Thinking wings and maybe like a legit cobb salad? |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
I saw a tweet this morning that said Pitt runs the most quick game in the league. We're going to have to cover and tackle well.

It's because Ben has a noodle arm now, if we can get pressure on him we could have a shot |

Somewhat surprising, they have a good O line and I dont see may injuries so youd think they wouldnt have to quick pass it. James Conner seems to be out. Would love to see former terp Anthony McFarland get some touches. I think he could have a solid career once he gets a chance. Big Ben has a knee injury. |

Against Villanueva? Perhaps if the Steelers think Vill can handle his own 1 vs 1 and doesnt need help. I can see Chase making those quick screen plays difficult, he is soo good at recognizing and reacting. |

I’m sure he’ll be shifted around, I do love Villanueva who’s a tough, classy player who has served his country. |

Baltimore played it well. Crowd line with backers and keep them guessing with dropping into short zones...sometimes bring an extra guy. |
Re: PIT v WFT Pregame Thread
Gotta get big time pressure up the middle and the Ends have to keep contain, not get sucked in. I don't necessarily see a lot of sacks, but if they can get good pressure with four down lineman, I like their chances. Big Ben will make some mistakes if he's rattled.
Can't get down early - the offense has to score early and put the pressure on the undefeated team. The Vegas line is narrowing... |
