Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
This is all such bullshit. If Smith is able to play, he may be 60% of what he use to be with the leg and calf injury. And 60% of a game manager is a 60% opportunity, if everything goes ok, to have a chance to win this game.
Why not go with a more aggressive approach, with a mobile and healthy QB that can benefit from a great running attack to augment our line strength with short first-down conversions and a few deep shots. I am so sick of hearing fans talk about playing not to lose. Let's talk about claiming what is ours and putting the personnel on the field to win this damned thing. Put Heinicke under center and let the kid do his thing. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Do you want a hobbled game manager or someone mobile that has shown he can run or pass, with accuracy, to get the job done.

Not necessarily saying you're wrong, but when Alex starts for us, we typically win. Most of us have never seen Heinicke play. Tough to tell fans to go away from Alex if he's good to go, for a guy that was solid for a few minutes when the other team was protecting a lead. |

Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
And consider that we now have a backup we at least have some faith in. I'd say with Smith, McLaurin and Gibson all back we have a damn good chance. With Heinicke having to go in we at least have someone that looks like he's accurate, knows the system, can manage the game and above all its motivated; everything DH appeared not to be.
I think we could take this 24-14. Hurts hasn't faced our D yet... |
Im scared
Feels so much like week 17 2016. Giants already clinched their spot in playoffs with nothing to play for. We win, were in. We played like shit right from the get go. slow start + lucky bounce or 2 eagles way = panthers game all over again This offense cant be relied on to come back from a double digit deficit. Not sure it is fair to ask the D to throw another 2nd half shut out. Eagles are favored to win -1.5 line
Actually the line has swung from Philly being favored by 1 to WFT being favored by 1.5, so that means heavy bettor action on WFT |

Washington Football Team Pittsburgh Steelers LA Rams |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Man, the Rams might just get bounced from the playoffs this week if they don't handle their business. Chicago would have to beat Green Bay, which isn't likely, but a few weeks ago I would not have thought they would be in this position - needing help to get in.

Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Give Alex a half commmittment only. Of course he's such a great team player he would pull himself if he was ineffective first anyways. Its entirely possible both play. Frankly, that scenario, plus a win is best case because then Heinecke gets more game experience. I do not agree to olay a guy off the street over the only qb in memory with a consistent winning record. Smith makes everyone around him play their best, regardless of his shortcomings. My greatest fear is not effectiveness as he self manages. It is him actually getting permanently disabled. If he cant sprint, he should not go in under any circumstances

Jim Schwartz is declaring the game a no hat game - ie, don’t let your opponent don a division winner hat in your house. Fuck that guy - I’ve always hated that rat faced bastard. I hope we crush his D and then someone strolls over and plants a hat on his head.
If Alex plays and is healthy, and McLaurin is back, I’m very optimistic. If either of those doesn’t pan out, I’m decidedly less so. I may start a thread called, The Kids Are Alright. In mulling over our roster and focusing just on the two youngest classes, we have a lot of cause for optimism no matter what happens Sunday. Young, Sweat, Curl, Gibson, McLaurin, Holcomb - we have a lot of really young guys playing well. I read an article this am which I’ll try to post that makes a pretty compelling case for Curl being in the mix for DROY. More than any time I can recall in recent memory, I really do feel like we are headed the right way. On to Philly. |

I think at this point Alex will err on the side of caution and not play if he doesn't feel he can protect himself. If he's not 100% or very close to it he won't be out there. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Keep Hurts in the pocket. He’s barely completing 50% of his passes. He does damage on the run.
|
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Yep - I think if you shut down M Sanders, contain Hurts, and don't turn the ball over, it's a wrap.
|
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Philly will show up; they hate us as much as we hate them. What tips this in our favor is RR getting rid of Haskins. This energizes the whole team and especially makes our offense better in ways that are both predictable and inexplicable.
Game is somewhat close into the second half, then we blow it open on a defensive TD to win going away, 31-19. |

That didn’t work well against Carolina and Philly had like 6 receivers that can play (TE’s included) defense needs to play with reckless abandon from the beginning. |

Exactly, the d-line will need to keep contain and stay in their lanes, and then get their hands up to bat down balls when he throws. |

You are absolutely right, and if Smith can go, I'd start him. But, I'd have an awfully short leash if he is not mobile enough to make plays during the game. Certainly not wait until he 9:00 mark of the 4th quarter. |

They had FOUR turnovers against Carolina. That was the difference. Philly has more weapons, but the same strategy applies. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Eagles injuries hopefully help us.
DT and monster Fletcher Cox seemed to have been limited in practice leading up to Cowboys game, then suffered a stinger in the game. Hopefully hes out. DE Derek Barnett was out vs Cowboys, hopefully stays that way. WR Desean Jackson has been nursing a sore foot but played vs Cowboys, caught 1 target for an 80- plus yard TD, summersaulted into endzone .. then left game bc of sore foot. Never change Desean. CB Slay (darby's very expensive replacement) was on the week 16 injury report but played vs Cowboys, got an int. No Slay would be huge. LT Jordan Mailata, who very well may have taken former first-round pick Andre Dillard's starting left tackle job, suffered a concussion when he was hit by Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith in the fourth quarter. Odd looking play by him. His actions/movements were intentional but what was the intent? to head butt the guy? I could see Jaylon busted for PEDs one day (pure fan speculation). |

I think Slay will play, but I doubt we see Cox. He was already dealing with a neck injury and then suffered a stinger versus Dallas, and never returned. I have a feeling he will not risk it on Sunday. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
We can't let the Eagles get a lead of more that seven points, keep the kid in check and go win this thing...WFT 17-Eagles 14...WHEW!!!

Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Man, I've been reading up on the Heinicke dude. He seems like one of those players that lit it up in HS and College, but wasn't the prototypical QB that big College programs and NFL teams are looking for. All state as HS Junior; National Player of the year for Georgia as HS Senior; almost 15,000 passing yards passing with 132 TDs in 4 years of college at ODU (+22 rushing TDs); owns virtually every QB record there...He had one opportunity in 2018 to start for an injured Cam Newton in 2018, and he himself got injured during that game and went on IR. Never saw the field as a backup in the XFL...
What an opportunity for this dude. It would be Cra-Cra if he starts and leads this team to the NFC East championship. |

There is a reason Heineke didn't even start in the XFL. My guess is he will come back down to earth if he has to play a game from start to finish.

I wouldn't use the XFL as much of a yardstick. They only played 5 games before suspending operations. Not bigging up Heinicke but plenty of QB's have been journeymen etc. and still produced good games/seasons later in their career. We won't really know until he plays Sunday (assuming AS isn't good to go), but I see no reason to be down on the guy at this point. |

My hope is that he, RR, and Scott Turner are all on the same page about where he is. I don't care so much that they tell us fans, but I don't want to see the AS from the SF game. And only he really knows how much he is "manning" up to be ready, and how much is true recovery. I am sure Heinicke will throw a pick or two if he plays. He could have thrown two against Carolina but the defenders whiffed. But even with that, he seems (from the CY clip and some other short pieces) that he has more of the Brett Favre style picks, meaning the other team will get theirs but overall he won't let that stop him from going out and making plays. And just the energy he brought into the huddle seemed to be the spark the offense has needed all year long (no offense Alex) |

The most important thing is we now have a backup QB who is capable of moving the ball down the field with support from the team. I saw a clip of Young talking about Heinicke during the game last Sunday, Young said that it is obvious Heinicke paid attention during the practices. This statement alone makes me to feel better about Heinicke. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
Another thought occurred to me, though surely not original.
I am SOOO glad that the Giants/Cowboys game has zero bearing on the WFT playoff chances. I want to see if RR can motivate this team for themselves, 1 week - 1 game - it is his team's prize to take, no other team affects the outcome of this game. Not even Philly. If the WFT plays solid football they win this game easy. But it is on each of the players to come out and focus on their role. That's what RR has to do this week, keep the team focused and with the goal in their hands. |
Re: Let's try this "Win and in" again. Eagles Pregame 2.0
We need Sweat and Young to be absolutely finger lickin good y’all. If we give Hurts time I fear for our playoff lives. We have to throw the house at him early and often.
