Re: QB Prospects Thread
Really the only concern about Daniels is his weight. If his pocket presence is as good as his accuracy it's not a big deal. He will take hits, as long as he can avoid most of them we're good.
I'm leaning more towards Daniels than Maye - Maye looks good physically but everybody says Daniels is the better player. Take the guy who can play football. |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
Pretty crazy how tight lipped this front office is, we really have no idea which way they are leaning. Seems that more experts have us taking Maye, so because of that I'll say it will be Daniels. Either way I like the potential of both guys at #2 and won't hate it either way.
|
Re: QB Prospects Thread
Really think the weight thing with Daniels is overblown. He definitely needs to add some bulk to his frame, shouldn't be hard for him to add 10-15 lbs of good weight in the next few years.
|
Re: QB Prospects Thread
RG3 ptsd.
I love Daniels. I think he'll be very good in the NFL. I just worry about the hits he'll take. Also, Staubach, Carmichael, Cunningham, etc were playing against 210# linebackers and 250# defensive lineman. Not really comparable. |

My guess is he's already well on his way to doing that. Pro Day may surprise some folks...but I too think the weight thing is overblown. Anyway, are NFL players that much bigger than SEC football players? I mean I know they are the elite of the elite, but it's not like he'll have LSU or AZ State players protecting him either. |

Randall Cunningham; playing heaight and weight 6-4 214 ilbs had i say a pretty good career and played at a time when QBs were not so protected by the rules JD ends up like Randall i be pretty happy with that pick[/QUOTE] I said Harold Carmichael in the previous post. He would be a WR. Meant Randall Cunningham. Lol |

Any chance it is because they don’t want NE to know who they prefer because they are thinking trade back one spot with the Pats, giving the Pats first choice? If the Pats know we prefer Maye for example and the Pats prefer JD it would not make sense to move up one spot. But if the Pats prefer one or the other and want to make sure they get him than they might be willing to move into that second spot. |

A front office exuding competence is so weird.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Burrow, Herbert, Cousins all injured last year. None are considered runners. Rodgers went out for the year taking a damn snap. Tons of guys at all different positions big and small, fast and slow, get injured every single week. It is a violent sport. WR’s are running full speed and in the absolute most vulnerable positions and are usually skinny and fast, but 300 pound lineman who run nowhere get hurt just as often. The whole he is skinny and runs so he is going to get hurt is absolute hogwash.

Are we seriously not going to draft a stud qb because he's 6'4" and 210 lbs because he COULD get hurt since he's smaller? Huh? We are still hungover from the RG3 effect with this attitude. Any qb could get hurt. Daniels is superb at evading the pass rush which will also help with avoiding devastating blind side hits. This is not Penix with injuries. Kid's injury history is quite good with 2 years in the SEC even and 5 in D1 football. Massive difference in defensive players v. Big XII with RG3. |

Damn, I got pulled over by the thread police. Hopefully I can be let-off with a warning. I thought our next swing at a franchise QB was something that warranted it's own thread. We get it right/lucky, we're gucci, and winning a Super Bowl when RFK is our home/future home stadium. If he can't or won't learn how to slide, I don't want him. RG3's "I'm as tough as anybody on the field and I'll fight for every yard" mentality ruined his entire career. The best ability is availability. |

Well from what I've seen Daniels one of the criticisms of Daniels is he doesn't protect himself while running (Which means he is more like RG3. |

RG3 simply wasn't able to protect himself. Daniels has the capability, he just has to be smarter about what hits you can take in the NFL. And when it's possibly worth the risk or not. There's a difference between the two. |

RG3 couldnt, Ive seen Daniels protect himself and slide. In Daniels career, I have seen him take 3 hits that were like, that was a hard one. 2 were blindsides and the one against Ole Miss he had just gotten away from a defender and his teammate missed a block and he got smacked |

The brass is meeting with McCarthy tonight for dinner before pro day tomorrow. I’m hearing more about Vikings wanting to trade up for Maye. We may(e) end up with a haul of picks, a second tier QB like McCarthy or Penix. I’m also hearing Justin Jefferson is in play. 👀 |

I know a lot of you are enamored with Daniels and Maye. I’m not sure there’s a whole lot of drop off between them and Penix and McCarthy. Sprinkle in 2 #1s, 2#2s and JJ, I’ll take it in a heartbeat. |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
The last thing I want is a running QB. Yes be able to get out of pocket to avoid pressure, be athletic and be able to make plays off script.
You must win from the pocket passing the ball. Don’t be what happened to Anthony Richardson last year, all that does is bring us back to square one. You can give Lamar Jackson the top scoring defense in the league AND a top five running game. Every god damn year in the playoffs defensive coordinator do the samething “beat me from the pocket Lamar” and he comes up short. Pass that type of player |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
I'd take a pick haul from Minnesota, why not. Not sold on the top 3 qbs so I would take a worth while trade

There's a huge drop off between the top 3 and the rest otherwise they'd be talked about in the same class as the other 3. |

I am committed to accepting the front office's decision
All fans should repeat this affirmation to themselves in the morning, at lunch and in the evening. We have grown up football people making grown up decisions. Can they be wrong, yes, but they have earned the chance to make This specific decision. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk |

Inconsistent on throws and can’t read defenses according to Kurt Warner. |

As long as they don't trade up to #1 or draft Penix, I'm fine with any result tbh. |
