My concern with Taylor and Carter is that they are tweeners (undersized) maybe with Haynesworth in the middle it might be different. We need a replacement for Taylor going into 2010, Daniels is pre-historic and coming back from injury and Evans could sign with the 49ers tomorrow.
Daniels is already gone we let his contract void, he's a FA. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Last night I heard that Philly was out of the race for Houshmendzadeh, after claiming they would do whatever it takes to bring him in. It seems likely that he will land in Minnesota now.

I wonder who goes if Daniels comes back, which is very possible. Does he play end and Taylor goes to linebacker? Or is he a backup DT. Griffin and Haynesworth start, Montgomery/Golston (my guess is they're hoping to trade one of them) and Daniels backup, and Alexander hangs around as well. |

we'll probably only do 9 DL - 5 DTs, 4 DEs... same deal since at least 2004. I'd guess if daniels comes back, JT would spend more time at LB, depending on how well each plays. daniels would be a good runstuff/goal line sub at DE. |

Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Any idea why the team isn't going after Igor Olshansky? I mean he's young, seems to be strong against the run (doesn't appear to be a great pass rusher though), just a thought now that we have cap room.
2008 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 79 | Key Alert: None Comment: Olshansky is a physical freak with tremendous size and a body builders' frame. He is tall with long arms and big, powerful hands. His strength is rare and he carries very little extra fat on his powerful frame. He presses massive offensive tackles off his body with ease and is a very good player against the run. He stays square to the line of scrimmage and is very difficult to move off the point. His leverage and hand usage continue to improve, but moving this man backwards is a serious chore. Olshansky is very tough and works hard on and off the field. When he hits the ball carrier, he inflicts serious punishment and is very capable of jarring the ball loose on contact. He isn't an elite pass-rusher and needs to add more moves to his arsenal, but he still can bull rush most opponents into the pocket. He isn't the most fluid athlete, but does run well in a straight line. Due to his flexibility issues, his pass-rush skills suffer. He also could stand to be quicker off the line and consistently get off the ball with better pad level. Olshansky is still relatively young and is an ascending player. While his pass-rush and recognition skills need to be honed, he is an excellent fit as a 3-4 defensive end.
|
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings

I hope not, I liked him in Arizona, he won't be that great for the niners this year than he would have been for the cardinals this year |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
A source told FOXSports.com that the New York Giants running back has agreed to a four-year, $17 million contract with Tampa Bay. Ward will earn $6 million guaranteed in 2009 and salaries over the next two seasons that would raise the three-year value to $13 million.
