Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
The funny thing is it was probably Snyder that convinced Ron to give Kyle a shot and work with him for a year to see how it goes.
At the end of the day you can't fault Ron for wanting to pick his guys to work with. For whatever reason it wasn't a good fit with Kyle. Oh well, happens all the time. Hopefully it works out great for both sides.
Didn't we have these same type of discussions when Eric Schaeffer was let go? |
1. He was kept on because he has extraordinary ability in identifying NFL talent.
2. As long as he stayed in his office watching film and making spreadsheets he could be tolerated because Snyder wanted the benefit of his extraordinary talent. 3. RR does not have all the powers he was promised by Snyder. That's right, I said Snyder lied to him to get him on board. It's a standard business practice. Did it ever happen to you? It happened to me. 4. Snyder didn't fire him but his punishment was that he would never be promoted to GM as long as Snyder owns the team.
I think you are missing the most obvious. Smith was cursed with the Kavorka and stepping on Dan's vibe. |
Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Kyle Smith had 2 strikes against him.
He stood up on a table right before they drafted Haskins saying what no one else in the room would say ... "are we seriously going to throw away all of our work on this draft and spend the no. 15 overall pick on a guy we dont have a 1st round grade on just because the owner, whose standing to my left, wants us to?" RR likes his people. Water under the bridge imo. I imagine Kyle Smith may land a GM job at some point and I wish him the best, but whether we experience success will have nothing to do with whether or not we retained him. |
Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
So Snyder promoted Smith to VP of Player Personnel but was like that's as far as you're going in this organization mister. No more promotions for you.
It's beginning to look like my shit is weak. |

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Per ProFootballTalk, the Tenn GM indicated that the team isn't likely to resign Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis. I hope we will make efforts to sign Smith next month. Having two TEs who can block and catch balls will create problems for opponents, and it definitely will help our new QB.

I'd take both if the price is right. Given that there's talk of most/all the top WR FA's being tagged, if the Titans let them walk I'd be happy with Davis as #2 to Scary. On the tag, I can't see how ALL the names being banded are going to be tagged. There just seem too many teams that need to make big cuts to not break the cap. |

A lot of these teams are strapped with dead money and aging vets that they will be apprehensive to extend to get cap relief by converting salary into bonus money across future years. |
Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Question: with the looming 17 game season, have they said how the last opponent will be selected?
Right now it is 6 games from same division, 1 afc division, 1 nfc division, and 2 nfc teams with same division rank order. I really liked that setup, and wonder how it will be tweaked to accomodate the 17th game? Maybe an AFC team with same rank order in division? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

that is good. I just feel that overpriced FA have really never been a huge help to us. Just need to spend wisely. |
