Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I doubt that happens because there isn't much left in FA at those positions. The good news is that the draft is loaded with DL prospects and there are enough good ILB prospects that we might be able to get one of them, as well.
I know I'm about to get skewered for this idea, but I think this may be a draft where we should try to move up to the early second round if the right player for us is still on the board. I believe from what I've read that there are more players with first round grades than usual in this draft and many of them are DL's.
I think I'm misusing the word "expecting". I mean I want it to happen, not I think it probably will ... Envoyé de mon TOMMY en utilisant Tapatalk |
Cooley's film breakdown of Terrell McClain and Stacy McGee:
ESPN 980 Audio Vault - Play Now He gave McClain a C+, IIRC he said he was solid against the run, average pass rusher, great work ethic. He seemed happy with the signing. McGee was a C-, big guy but not playing hard enough, stoping his feet when blocked or double teamed. Overall Cooley gave a D to the DLs signing, saying since this is obviously a position of need, we have to add a real playmaker this offseason. Good thing this draft class has a lot of talent at this position!
From what little I've seen of McClain, I really like his motor. He seems to be a good penetrator and he is good versus the run. He was double-teamed a lot. I'm optimistic about his contributions. McGee definitely has a reputation for not playing hard enough. I'm wondering if Jim Tomsula has a relationship with him and thinks he can motivate him. McGee is big and talented. If he puts out better effort, I think he could be a good player for us. BTW, I like the Ziggy Hood signing. He played hard for us last season. |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I do find it funny that they cut Ricky Jean after he mouthed off about the FO. Why not release the guy weeks ago if you knew you were not going to keep him? It's just seems like more Redskins FO BS.

They, or possibly he (BA), do seem to take everything personally. |

Or they were waiting to figure out how things would shake out in the first days of free agency and then decide on any moves with current players. But I'm sure he mouthing off about the FO didn't help. |

reportedly Hankins is asking for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and no one is interested at the price he wants |

That's fine. He'll lower his asking price in time. I'd take him on a reasonable one year deal. |

He would be a nice addition, at the right price. |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
DL is too rich especially if the college draft turns out to be anywhere near as good as speculated.

The FO better address the interior early in the draft, or the run defense will continue to be a sieve.
