Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Less than half a game?
How about the entire offseason including OTA's, minicamp, training camp and 4 preseason games. Ramsey had the chance to secure the job. He didn't lose the job on Sunday against the Bears. He lost it over the course of the entire offseason and preseason.
Brunell "won" last offseason as well, what did that prove? a rhythm is established in real game situations with all your personnel, all your plays, and all your 60 minutes. not in preseason, or wearing shorts in practice. didn't last year prove that? |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Don't name him the starter. That's it. Just make it Brunell or say that they're having an open competition and give that to Brunell. That's the biggest problem. What did Brunell do to earn a second chance? Regular season is what it's about.

Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
They meant something for Ramsey.
If he played well and didn't throw 4 INTs, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.
That's why it's a mistake, IMO. Preseason games don't count for a reason. I said in another post. Roethlisberger looked terrible. The Colts were 0-5. The Broncos were 4-0. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
LOL- Okay, I'll chill on the sweetheart!
Name me one franchise that hasn't experienced years of losing. Even the Pats, before the most recent Super Bowls and the one in the 80's ( and even back then they were mediocre) have experienced decades of losing. This type of think goes in cycles. Think about there are about 5 or 6 teams that have never been to a Super Bowl, and more than half who have never won one. But I get your point.
You're right, we Skins fans have a lot to be thankful for. As you say, some teams have never experienced the thrill of winning it all. I guess it's because we're all so passionate about the team and we've all had so many years wandering the desert (so to speak), that we are desperate to have things turned around. So, the move to another QB gets everyone's attention because it is so key to the question of whether this will be a successful season or just one more spent "wandering in the desert." It's so **** frustrating. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Yeah, I don't think Gibbs just yanked based on what he saw in Chicago, it was more like what he saw and what he hasn't seen for the past couple of months. I think Gibbs has been stewing this one for a while.
Exactly. I think he gave him every chance to turn the corner. Ramsey simply didn't get it done. He worked as the starter all during the offseason. He took 90% of the snaps in training camp. All he had to do was produce and claim the job. Can anyone really say that he did that? Ramsey left the window of doubt wide open in Gibbs' mind. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
I'm not old enough to remember the thrill of winning. I was eight when they won their last Super Bowl. I vaguely remember that. They've been bad pretty much my entire life.

Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Will somebody please tell me what Ramsey has done to win your unrelenting support?
Was it the 65 QB rating in the preseason? The 4 INTs? Or maybe it was the 2 fumbles and 1 INT in three series worth of work against Chicago? Talk about blindly following someone.
dismissing 16 regular season games last season for four preseason games against backups and the first 19 minutes of the regular season against a fresh and motivated Bears defense is whats blind. |

Ramsey may ultimately not be the answer either, but it looks like we'll never get the chance to find out. We've ALREADY found out that Brunell is not the answer, or wasn't 8 games enough of a tryout for him? |

Perhaps, Gibbs wanted to have a competition, if you will, without the media being involved and dividing the team after practice during camp. Maybe he had some idea of what he wanted to do but didn't know how to quite approach it. Last year, when he declared an open competition - Ramsey didn't respond well. This year Gibbs took an another approach, let's just flat out name him the starter. Well the results were pretty much similiar. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
That is why he's in the position he's in now. He named him the starter and yanked him very quickly.

Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
I don't really wanna hear about offseason workouts because Ramsey didn't even have his #1 reciever most of the time. Remember? He was in a contract dispute.

What makes you think Ramsey gave us a better chance? Is this just a feeling you have? Well Gibbs has a feeling it's Brunell, somehow I trust his feelings more than ours. Personally I'm willing to give a healthy Brunell a 2nd chance. A 2nd chance in an improved offense, with a QB that looks to have a better grasp on the offense. |

That was settled pretty quickly. He didn't miss any of training camp. Besides, he hooked up with him pretty nicely in the preseason and even on Sunday. Working with his #1 WR isn't his problem. |
