U guys are actually considering colt McCoy over Peyton Manning? Wow

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
I didn't know Colt McCoy was available and even then I don't want him. My first choice is Griffin. If it means we swap 4 picks for 1 so be it. If Manning was 4 years younger I'd be all for it, I just don't want another band-aid. Good thing FA is so close then all this can be put to bed.

If the Browns get Flynn and the Dolphins get Manning, I wonder will the Rams price tag goes down?

One would think since we can offer a high pick in this years draft. Who knows though, Fisher may prefer quantity over quality. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
It better come down or the Vikings will be getting those picks in the trade.
1st, 2nd, and 4th this year and 1st next year is what I think it will end up costing in the end if we or Cleveland gets him. Miami would have to add an extra pick. |

I don't want McCoy.
I'm sorry your going to have to help me out. This is like the second time I've seen this perhaps from you perhaps not but I just don't understand what the Skins will have to change? I see us needing to get better with the OL, and needing better blocking, but thats a given for whoever takes the QB position even if it's RGIII.
The worse case scenario I see is PM coming here and having to learn the play calls and getting on page with the WR's here. I believe there will be a small hickup until he is familiar with the system and familiar with the WR's.
More man blocking and less zone schemes.. going from a more scripted west coast approach to a no huddle with more adjustments at the line... you don't bring Manning in to learn your system... |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
saw a mock that had us snatching blackmon at 1:6, and grabbing weeden with our 2:7. i really wouldn't mind that
I have zero interest in Manning. I have no idea what the lovefest here is for him. I'd rather have any other option though Griffin/Grossman is my ideal (with a McCoy/Leinart/Quinn 3rd stringer).
I had have to side with you on that. And this is coming from someone who thinks peyton is the greatest QB of all time. His health, the system, his price..its not quiet worth it. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
I'd rather have Griffin. If not Griffin, than maybe McCoy (if available & we wouldn't have to sell the farm) or some other free agent and draft another qb. Manning is not a good fit here.
how is a healthy peyton manning not a good fit anywhere? |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
a healthy manning exists and fits in ny. a healthy peyton manning is a great fit for a dome team. where does a healthy peyton manning exist?
Well to go off what you are implying, lets say RGIII is a bust. It takes the team 3-4 years to finally make the decision not to give him another chance. We trade four to five draft picks for him, and slug along for 4 years never accomplishing more than we have in the last three years.
Going through a HC or two in the process. Just saying. There is risk to it all, and this is what this decision is going to be either way. For me I see the risk in signing PM to a deal is what you said above: two years and he is done. BTW if we only get two years out of him because he is never gets fully heathy. This would get us in position to fix the problem again. RGIII is not the only good quarterback to come out over the next few years. The reward is getting 4-5 good to great years out of him, and winning a lot of games between now and then. Trust me I get RGIII. If we were drafting in a position to draft him, I would draft him. BUT Peyton Manning's don't hit the market to often.
1. To fix the problem again we would have to trade up in a future draft to get a franchise QB, so what is the difference? All we have done is delayed the gamble. 2. You really think PM is going to play an elite level until he is 41? Get. Real. He will be 36 in a week or two and has had major neck surgeries. |

Because you have to change the scheme to fit him. Does Mini Shanny seem like he is willing to change his precious scheme to fit any player? Doubtful. The bootleg and perimeter passing game play to the strengths of RG3. |

I don't disagree. But I would hope that Shanny Junior could work with Manning. You don't make the greatest QB in history, a QB who could also be your OC, fit your system - you make your system fit him. Whether L'il Shanny can do that is an interesting question. |

Does anyone else think the Rams trade the pick before the draft?
