According to NFL.com, cbssports.com, and foxsports.com, the compensation was indeed 3 first round picks and a 2nd rounder.
Explanation #1

We swapped #1's this year, people seem to forget that, we are picking RG3 you know?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explanation #2

We moved from #6 to #2 in the first round this year.

To move up those 4 spots, we gave up 2 first rounders and an 2nd rounder.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explanation #3

We got a 1st

They got 3 1st and a 2nd

Simple subtraction will tell you they got 3 extra picks, 2 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
WTF #1

Or.....Did we just give them 3 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder for nothing in return? :)

WTF #2

We just raped the Rams because our QB will be better than their QB next year.

"insane, 3 1sts and a 2nd to move up 4 spots"

Or 3 1sts and a 2nd to get a franchise qb.

Lets say we don't do the deal. We finish about where we have the last few years in the 6-10 draft position.

That would mean (1) we sucked, and (2) are draft picks aren't going to get you the best qb available.

I can see no alternative.

Can you get raped if you're a willing participant?

It's rape if you say no before. It's regret if you wished you said no but didn't.

Well we did get taken advantaged of, thats for sure. But, its a good year to be in this situatation. The Redskins can fill a bunch of holes in free agency. If he is a top 5 qb, then it is cheap. If he is a bust then everybody gets fired and the rest of the upper level at Fedex is coming down.

It's still not a great deal, and the question of "yeah, but how are you planning to become a good team THIS time?" remains unanswered.

If Griffin throws on a gold jacket in 2032 and Bradford ends up being the next Rick Mirer, then and only then will people remember the Redskins as bold and the Rams as foolish.
GTripp, always with the negativity.
The gold jacket line was a reference to a potential hall of fame ceremony for a player who has never taken a snap in the NFL.
