Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
NBC4's Dianna Marie Russini has been told the Redskins are "planning and hoping" to take Florida OLB Dante Fowler at No. 5 overall.
It's widely been assumed the Redskins and new GM Scot McCloughan want to trade back. But they also want an edge rusher to complement Ryan Kerrigan, and don't want to miss out on both Fowler and Clemson's Vic Beasley. SI's Peter King also said Monday he can't see the Redskins passing on Fowler at No. 5. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Dianna also said that if Fowler isn't there at #5, then the Skins would prefer to trade down and take an offensive lineman.
BTW, you can be sure that Scot M. is pissed off that somebody leaked that information to the press. Who is the big mouth at Redskins Park? |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
My point is that chart value is irrelevant in this case. Cleveland would be trading so they could get Mariota and everyone knows it. They would not be making a generic swap of picks for an unknown player. Mariota is worth the same to them whether his is taken at #2 or #5.
Given that its Cleveland I agree. But I made my picks and trades and if I am right on anything I want a dollar from everyone! Sent from my S6 Edge |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Leonard Williams told Mayock that the Skins told him at his visit that "they didnt think he would be there, but if he falls he was their guy"

Keim has stated multiple times that most leaks have stopped and information was extremely tough to get. That this was a priority in the offseason. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Given the rumored price that the Titans have for their #2 overall pick (they want Cleveland's two first rounders and their second round pick), I'm hoping that this results in them letting Mariotta pass and he falls to us.
I imagine Washington's price for their #5 would be less than what the Titans are asking. Also, I think teams wouldn't want Mariotta to fall to the Jets, who would definitely take him. I'd have a harder time passing on Leonard Williams than Mariotta in a trade down scenario. A think a great scenario for the Skins would be to get P. Rivers, the #17 pick, and a 3rd rounder (maybe a 2nd rounder) for our #5 overall. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Todd McShay's final mock draft
Like Mel Kiper, McShay has Winston and Mariota going 1-2. Dante Fowler goes to the Redskins at No. 5, but: “if the Redskins are presented with a good trade offer to move back, that’s what they’ll do." per McShay |

if Fowler is the pick what happens to Trent Murphy ?

Nothing. He stays with the team as a backup OLB. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I want Dante Fowler. If he's gone and we get Beasley I'll be happy too, but Fowler would pump me up sky high. One of those two and a good O-Lineman in the second, maybe another in the 3rd or beyond, and a FS in the 3rd or 4th. Pick up a third down back, WR, or TE that can catch and block...I'm good to go baby! Staying along the lines of BPA of course. But I certainly think it's possible. At least in my head.

Murphy's not going anywhere. He's a good young LB.

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I wouldn't be surprised if we trade the pick (granted someone is willing) I think giving RGIII the 5th year option raises the cap next year and picking someone in the teens is cheaper than #5.

We need him. Depth is so important, having a rotation and keeping pass rushers fresh is important and injures are a reality in the NFL. We need three great OLB's, that is why getting Fowler or Beasley (if Williams is gone) is huge. |

RGIII getting $16M is NOT done deal. He has to earn it. Not based on potential. |
