I'll bet you, this team has way too much talent and between McVay and Phillips they could surprise. Jeff Fisher was an underachieving piece of shit. |
Re: The coordinators
No doubt. If they don't even interview Wade I am sold even less on Jay. Or if they interview him and basically come away unimpressed I will have to wonder why. Do they just not care about past production? Or one of their requirements is a young energetic guy? Can't understand how Jay wouldn't have learned anything from the Joe B. experience.
Because he's not that bright |

They had a deer in the headlights at the most important position this year and a bad OL. It is going to be an uphill battle. |

Source: Wade Phillips Passed On Redskins Over Talent Concerns - Washington - Scout
According to the source, Phillips was “very concerned about the Redskins overall lack of talent” on the defensive side of the ball. The Redskins, per the source, strongly believe they are only “two or three starters” from fielding a very competitive defense if all their players can remain healthy and get on the field." That optimism wasn’t enough to sway Phillips who will now run a defense loaded with talent in Los Angeles.
|
Re: The coordinators
From Ian Rapapport:
The goal for new LA #Chargers* coach Anthony Lynn: OC to be Ken Whisenhunt, DC to be Gus Bradley. … Not a bad staff. |
Re: The coordinators
We'll probably hire pettine which is fine

Re: The coordinators
in my opinion the best DC hire would be Mike Vrabel, I don't care he's never been a DC. His stock is rising, Houston #1 defense without Watt, Vrabel makes Romeo Crannel look good.

This could be bad:

Re: The coordinators
We could take the loss of Wes Phillips, but the loss of Callahan would be disastrous

Re: The coordinators
Wtf man??? Are we going to rebuild the whole staff. This is ridiculous

Re: The coordinators
Yeah, this is looking more and more like a friggin train wreck. Just when I was starting to hear the C word (continuity), we will potentially be replacing 2/3 of the coordinators, and over half the entire staff, and still can't decide if we have our QB of the future.
Brilliant! |
Re: The coordinators
I think we will be fine with we are able to keep Callahan, I hope they make this a priority.
|
Re: The coordinators
We seriously believe we're 2-3 starters away from being good on defense? And our offensive coaches are about to be raided?

Re: The coordinators
Sean was a good OC, I bet Jay takes over playcalling now
I really hope not. A head coach should head coach, a general manager should general manage, and an offensive coordinator should call plays. Of course the HC has a toe in every decision, but y'all get my drift. |
Re: The coordinators
Give me Jay Gruden, Mike McCoy, and Mike Pettine and I'll call it a staff. We can fill in the rest if anyone else leaves. I'd also be okay with Callahan as OC. And obviously I'd love if he stayed as our offensive line coach.
I wish McVay all the best, but I'm not crying over him leaving. I'm in San Diego. I'll be watching live when we play against him next year. |
