Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
he's 33 and he's looking for a lot more than vet minimum. someone will grab him, and he probably does have 2 years left, but i doubt we're the destination. never say never i guess, but it's pretty doubtful.
as for duke's preseason reports... everyone is always great in the preseason (if they aren't abjectly terrible), cause they aren't actually tackling or playing real football. it's like, puff piece central. there are definitely noteworthy things/items that happen, but there's soo much happy noise that i wouldn't rely on those reports too heavily.
Yeah its not likely, but I wouldn't complain if it was a reasonable deal. I'd offer more than the minimum but less than he was making. We need another MLB, but more likely will be through a mid round draft pick. That's more our style (now). |

Wtf is PFT bringing up a play from 2013 to smear this guy at the end of the article? you know if Florio was run over by a pack of stampeding elephants if would make my flipping day. Welcome to the team Garvin, this guy seems to be depth and an excellent special teams player. HTTR |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
To above, if certain teams sign role players it's absolutely amazing (ie Patriots), if we do it, there's always more of a critique. It will be that way until we win consistently.

I regret to inform you that the national press trashed our team constantly during the Gibbs I years when we were winning Super Bowls. It seems as if that will never change, so **** 'em! |

Ignorance is bliss, lol, that's gone now. Thanks! |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Agreed, he should not be counted on as a starting safety solution. He's big and a sure tackler which fits the McCloughan mold, but Jarrett when healthy will push for this role, as will Nacho.
I think Hall is the lock at FS and will be great at it.
I think Hall could be solid at FS also. IF.....say that Bruton/Nacho/Jarrett look like they can lock down the S spot in training camp. I would then look to keep Hall at CB/NB as insurance against Cully's injury recovery or to have him specialize in the slot. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
There are other receivers that people could put near/above him. But I love his size. We haven't had a true playable big receiver in a long time. We could use him a bit differently than all our other guys.
Pass rushers are like pitchers, can't have too many good ones.
I'm with you that Treadwell's size is his main attraction. He could be used on "throw to position" routes e.g. redzone, fades, comebacks, slants and he can use his size to "beat" press. But the receivers I have ahead of him create more separation, run crisper routes and are more explosive and those factors for me, are what helps a receiver transition quickly to the NFL. Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Exactly what I meant, it felt like the coaches were alluding to him getting bigger and moving inside last year. He could easily put on weight and would be a force inside. That would allow us to take a safety or CB in the draft (come on Karl Joseph) instead of feeling stuck with taking one of the interior DLine players
The allusions are over, apparently they are now saying openly they want him to get bigger to move inside. Keim said as much on Cooley's radio show yesterday. Keim compared the change to the one Justin Smith went through in SF. Murphy is really tall but he seems like he has a different build than Smith and seems lanky. Not sure how that would work. He is strong against the run though at OLB. Would he be a better rotational player at DE than OLB, who knows? |

This might be fun and at $50 a throw...not a bad deal |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
I'm tempted even though there will be 0 real scouting info.
