of course they would start because we have effing zero at LG and Guard depth. So yeah would they start or would they be a "killer?" Why not have an opportunity to have a killer NT/DT with Payne whose ceiling is higher? Maybe a Derwin James who play making ability would be game changing? I hope we wouldn't Eric Flowers the pick just because of need.
Yea. Definitely. Reaching for needs is bad practice. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |
Re: Looking at the draft.
Ultimately, the board controls all. All my ideas are based on a perfect world where BPA matches our highest needs.
But if Nelson or Chubb or James or Ward or Edwards falls to 13 I'll gladly take them. |

That's really not outlandish to think. REMEMBER...the folks making the obvious reach will be for the QBs Rosen, Jackson, Allen and Mayfield...which will push talent back to everyone in the teens. Re: Looking at the draft.
Team assessment and draft strategy:
Offense: Jay's runs one of the best passing schemes in the NFL. It easier for Jay to scheme it up with quality receivers and imho no player is more impactful to an offense then a true #1 WR. Target: Outside WR (X or Z) QB is the most important player on the team. This organization has already suffered because of lack of planning and foresight at both the starter position and the developmental and back-up positions. Joe used to say that the 2 most important positions on the team are the starting QB and the back-up QB. Targets: developmental QB Need to improve the run game. I think the OL injuries were more of an issue then the runners. I don't think Jay's scheme will ever truly maximize a RB and therefore I don't think its worth it to draft a RB in the 1st round especially for Jay's scheme. Target: OL (interior) |

REMEMBER...the folks making the obvious reach will be for the QBs Rosen, Jackson, Allen and Mayfield...which will push talent back to everyone in the teens. These are reaches...
That is exactly right. This year several QB starved teams will reach in the top 10 for Qb. The real talent will drop to us like last year. Just fix our O-line and Defense and call it a day. LeGarrette Blount Undrafted Free Agent and Jay Ajai 5th round pick combined for 150 yards rushing in the Super Bowl and averaged 6.3 yards a carry. Because the O-line in front of them kicked ass. The Eagles were on their second string left tackle and 2nd string QB. When you have a physical offensive line and defense you do not need top of the draft QB's, WR's or RB's. The Patriots do the same thing, Brady was like a 6th round pick. |

The three names I’d watch early in the draft: Saquon Barkley, Derrius Guice and Nick Chubb. Yes, I’m well aware that Barkley should be long gone by No. 13, but if you’re asking who they like he’s at the top. He’s just unrealistic. Others who run with some power: Michel (and he also might be better in the pass game, but I’m not convinced the Redskins like him better than Chubb); Kerryon Johnson (again, can help in the run or pass game, but still not sold on their level of interest). Rashaad Penny is another one to watch later. |
Re: Looking at the draft.
Defense:
We play a 34 base but can't stop the run. Targets: NT, 34 DE In the secondary we lost Breeland and Fuller a starting CB and a starting Slot. Big holes there. Still need another S. Targets: CB, NB |
Re: Looking at the draft.
Targets (in no order):
CB, NB NT, 34 DE Outside WR (X or Z) Interior OL Developmental QB |

(I think they should too, without reaching) Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I think it will be a mistake. This organization needs to always be in the process of developing QB (especially considering the rate we screw them up). I believe in the Ron Wolf philosophy: a franchise should draft a QB somewhere in every draft. QB is the most important position on the team and you never know which ones will pan out. You can't hit on Kirk Cousins (and subsequently screw it up) unless you draft him first. |

I do not think they can afford to draft both a CB and a NB, just one or the other. I would like to see (not in this particular order) G,NT, RB, C, TE, CB, S, QB |
Re: Looking at the draft.
IF he is still there at 4, and IF they would take it, would you trade our first rounder this year and our first next year to the Brown's for the chance to get Barkley?
I realize there are so many reasons this will not happen, I am just curious what other people think they would do if it were a possibility. |
