Unlucky timing for sure... But would we have been able to get him? He has a no trade clause and the market for him would have been huge. Keim reported he wouldn't waive his no trade clause for Washington... |

Other than Mahomes, Allen and Herbert how many other QBs in the league can make this throw? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Burrow. Rodgers. But I doubt many more. It’s encouraging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

Thought I'll go through some of Indy's games from last year to try and make a more founded opinion about Wentz before next season.
Started with their win over Buffalo. A couple of missed throws but overall good game. Made some clutch throws under pressure... and had some of them dropped... The escape and run ability seems to still be there. I'll watch the infamous Jacksonville game next, but so far quite promising, nothing jaw dropping, nothing alarming, some nice abilities. 5 plays in 3 gifs: Ball a bit behind but with pressure in his face and in between zones so he couldn't lead Doyle with the throw, catchable ball + a nice throw in a relatively tight window Sack escape and run (nightmares of him in an Eagles jersey escaping Kerrigan and Cie) + another nice throw under pressure, receiver drops it Another nice throw with somebody up in his ribs |

Wentz and Heineke are the same age.. you would have thought he’d be atleast 2-3 years older.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

All you have to do is watch the games of Wentz vs us over the last few years… that dude owned us.
If we were to look back at the gameday threads I bet you’d see “wish we had someone like Wentz” in there. Now they need to figure out a way to restructure his deal and go grab Amari Cooper or draft London at 11. There is no need to draft a QB now, in any round. They made this move for Ron to have a QB for the rest of his contract in Washington, he was never going to rely on a rookie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The people that are for this think we are getting that guy. I gave the Jay Schreoder comparison. Jay had a John Elway arm and could hit deep balls but didn't have the down in down out accuracy to a consistent starter. He was turning the ball over. Add in the me first entitled attitude and he was shipped out of DC for Jim Lachey. Wentz = Jay S. |

I'm rooting for him. It's not like I want him to fail. I don't view him as a bad guy. I just don't think he is the type of QB that I'd want leading my franchise. |

One of the reasons that this franchise has to make bad trades for QB's is cause they don't have anyone in the pipeline. One of the reasons this franchise had success was because they drafted QB's all the time. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

You don't draft a QB every year. You study and scout them, and if one you really like falls to you or you are in a position to otherwise move around to get him, fine. But you don't just draft a QB every year just to draft a QB - get them in the "pipeline".

You just can’t get the reps to develop them if you draft one each year. Also another thing, these fucking guys are such pussies these days, we are raising bitches unfortunately. Carson Wentz is a prime example of his ego was so bruised by Hurts being drafted…it’s put his career in jeopardy and why he is here. So it’s another thing to consider when drafting a QB often. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

The problem with Wentz is not that he can't make the throws. No one is questioning his ability to actually throw the football. On that fact alone, he is a definite upgrade over Heinicke. Actually being able to throw the ball is a very important starting point.
The issue is not making the easy plays, the fumbles, the interceptions, etc. A good NFL QB should be completing 64%+ nowadays. He was 62.6% last year. There are yards on the field with him and turnovers galore. I don't like the trade, but I will obviously root for him, and eat all the crow in the world if he plays great for us. I'd much rather be wrong and the team be successful. |
