This. It’s crazy. Unless people like seeing RBs playing QB in the playoffs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

More painful too me is that all the other teams in the nfc east made the playoffs and look at the giants they have way less talent then us but still managed to make playoffs. Also if you want really pour a box of Morton salt on the laceration look at all the talent that has come through here from coaching to players and we just let it all slip away. so even when we get it right we fuck it up. We could have joe fucking burrow and still suck. And it all points back to one giant ass clown. |

Ouch. Lol. So true. Every word. Worst is Ron choosing to believe we had a successful season. He probably doesn’t realize it ended yet. |

But what should Curl earn in a new contract?
Coupled with Monday’s news regarding the salary cap increase in 2023, Curl’s new contract should make him among the top five paid safeties in the NFL next season. Currently, Derwin James, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Jamal Adams, Harrison Smith and Justin Simmons comprise the top five. James has an average-annual value of $19 million per year, while Simmons comes in at $15.2 million. There’s no way Curl comes in less than $15 million per season. Regardless, Washington can’t wait this one out. It’s best for everyone if Washington calls Curl to the negotiating table in February and hammers out a new deal. He's the exact kind of guy we want to keep. I don't know about 80 million, but 4 years and 65 million (or thereabouts) would be fine w/ me. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I don't see how we have a choice about paying Curl top 10 money, but top 5? I'd take a breath before committing that kind of money. He's great but he's not top 5. Yet. I'd love to see us set for 3-5 years at safety (for me he and Forrest should fill that need).
Of course the other side of the coin is we'd need to replace him if we let him walk. A similar calibre FA is going to probably cost an equivalent salary to keeping him, and if he's gone we have to look at a draft pick to fill the gap (and of course there's no guarantees with a draftee). We've also got to see what happens with Payne. Neither is cut and dried right now. I'd love to see them both re-signed early to reasonable contracts. If it drags out... |
