Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Reed Doughty is awful. He is a quality NFL special teams player.
If Reed Doughty is your starting safety in the NFL you lose. Period. |
The Giants kind of already did that to us last year.
And that didn't hurt cause we were never in it, when you lose a game like this, its like a playoff loss for me. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
The 3-4 isn't the problem, right now it's the secondary
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Asking Reed Doughty to win a one-on-one battle against the best receiver in football is like asking a Prius to beat a Ferrarri in a street race.
Why wasn't one of our top corners lined up against AJ? Buchanon?
great question for Haselett. But I wouldnt blame Buchanon if the defense scheme says let the safety over the top take the responsibility for the player in his zone while he takes the underneath coverage. Asking Reed to make a play in coverage is a fail 9 out of 10 regardless who he goes against |
still saying icing the kicker is a bitchass move
Even before today I hated it. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
we also need to create more turnovers. we had the one early on, but we need more. to be this aggressive we need to produce more turnovers.

Sheesh, you think people would point out our starting RT committing a terrible false start in a critical point in the game. Or our horrible run D. Instead, NO let's complain about how our BACK UP free safety got beat by the best wide receiver in the NFL. :doh: |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
We will bounce back with a W next week vs STL.. But we really need to do something with the run game.

yeah, but I think our play by our down linemen needs to improve. AC had a big game. Kemo, Gholston-we get very little out of these guys. Hate to say it, but Albert was missed today up front |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Dough-boy is bad in coverage, but the pressure on that play was lacking. The all came late and Schuab still had a pocket to throw in. Haslett want to blitz with his horses, but our the horses on our DL are not that great for the most part.

Yep! Schaub put up 475yds!!!! Ridiculous :mad: |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I'm actually proud of us for not bitching out. I'm just sayin' if i were a Houston player in the locker room I would kinda feel like a vagina knowin' we won by an "icing the kicker" call that would've been a REAL win. So glad we were men enough to not have to do the same thing to try and get a W. I only want what we earn, plain and simple.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Kareem Moore should help, he's definitely an upgrade over Reed Doughty, IMO

While Reed's getting beat sucked, we had them down by 17 late in the third quarter. It should never have come down to whether Reed can take AJ - the game was really lost elsewhere. |
Let's not get crazy this thing is further along then we expected so soon. We blew it, no doubt but we can learn from it. We got our man in Mcnabb he makes receivers and Moss will be terrific with him. I say we kick the shit out of st. louis and philly and by then we'll be much further along to try and upset greenbay.
~~~~ Seriously. No need to freak out. It is Week 2 and we are a team learning new systems and have new personnel. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I am not down in the pit of despair Skins 89, but it is sad when you totally dominate the first half and run out of gas for roughly the last quarter and a half of play. Our D needs to step it up!!! We were looking like the old Mike Nolan days when we had Stanley Richards and Jesse Campbell making Jake Plummer and co look like all pros.
Yes the D needed to step up, but today it was problems with stupid penalties and special teams letting us down in the fourth quarter. Galloway should have got that deep ball at the end. DMac got rolling, and we still have big problems in the running game. The D played well until the end and they got gashed a few times. Reed on Andre Johnson will never ever work.... period. We would have been better off with Bryon Westbrook back there. |
AC is at LB now. The d-line just isn't going to get a ton of pressure, that's what the LBs are for in this 3-4. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Schaub is legit
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
The defense was straight up awful today. It was a joke. five sacks? Who gives a shit? We just gave up 500 yards in one game.
That is pathetic. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Running game isn't as important as getting a solid secondary in place. Look at the rushing totals in the league thus far. Very few guys even hitting the 80yd mark. Most of the fantasy stud Rbs are so far having subpar years. Arian Foster had that monster game last week, but we held him in check for the most part. If we can get CP to hit the 70-80 yard mark, that will be fine by me. We need quality defensive backs. Rogers and Landry are good, but not great like Darrell, Champ, or the young Smoot. Definitely not like Sean!!!!!!
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
MAN, Doughty better have a PINK SLIP waiting for him in the locker room on MONDAY!
I rather focus on actual plays than a penalty. Our Run D wasnt nearly, in fact not even close to bad as our play in the secondary. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Yeah....They need to change the rules on That! Specifically on when u can call the F'ing time out! Its ridiculous that they call it AFTER the kicker is in motion to start the kick. It needs to be called WELL before the snap. Such a crap rule anyhow. I mean our boy hit it the 1st time!!!
WAIT!! Did he call it when the kicker was in motion? as in the ball was already snapped? they why didnt we call one when the ball was in the air on that 4th and10 play damnit!!! |
Schaub is legit
Yep, and that's why as ticked as I am, on the other hand I can't hate. They have a legit top 5 offense, they'll probably be in the top 3 at the end of the season. Andre Johnson is the best WR in the game. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Fletcher's tackles are way down I've noticed..
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Too many big plays against the safeties. The CBs did a solid job.
Agree. They are loaded and they have a good pass rush, They are a 11 win team |
I believe that being suckered into play action is a better indicator of whether a running game is respected or not. Skins' D-men were being sucked in constantly. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
The guy is the back up FS. The smart thing would have been for two people to cover Andre Johnson. Very few FS can go toe to toe with Andre Johnson and win in a jump ball situation. Look at the big picture in things like this.
Sean Taylor would have one that jump ball with Johnson. RIP Sean |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Bring back Tyrone Carter at this point.
We still should have beat them though dammit Sigh, this one got away |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
You don't score 20 pts late to win a game by accident. The Texans are for real. Not sure about thier defense but that offense is going to take them to the playoffs.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
The defensive line we are putting on the field is abysmal.
It will take some time to make the switch, but offensive coordinators across the league just got a big taste of how to make Jim Haslett look like a clown. That was just sad. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Lets all say a Prayer for Big Trent Williams to be healthy for next weeks game. Remember the Rams have given us many problems the last few years.
I agree but Tyrone is a small safety bro like Bob Sanders size. |
