Um....drunk thread? |
Re: Coaching Changes
Yeah huh?
GW was his DC at one time in Ten and he left for the HC gig in Buffalo. |
Re: Coaching Changes
Where GW ends up is irrelivent to us...the real issue is whether Shannys friendship with Fisher can give us the inside track on a trade for #2 or Bradford.

Friendship is one thing....first round picks are another
Where GW ends up is irrelivent to us...the real issue is whether Shannys friendship with Fisher can give us the inside track on a trade for #2 or Bradford.
I don't think either is of real value to us. Obviously the Rams' asking price for the no. 2 pick is sky high now: they won't actually get a first, second, and third for four or seven spots to trade up.
But the Rams only have leverage if the Redskins are interested in that pick. Because the Browns are well positioned anyway. If the Browns want Griffin, they just have to beat best offer, they don't actually have to move (on some level here, I am suggesting that NFL teams will collude). It greatly complicates the ability of the Rams to trade the pick for above-market value if teams know they can't beat the Browns. Basically, unless the Rams are actually willing to take Robert Griffin with the second overall pick, their only leverage comes from the Redskins interest in the pick (because it wouldn't make sense for the Rams to drop too much further down in the draft than sixth). If the Redskins want to go to 3rd overall to jump the Browns, the Rams aren't going to get a whole lot of serious offers for that pick. |

Where are you getting this information from? We haven't even had the senior bowl yet. RG3 can get injured or bomb at the combine, there ia also free agency. The point is that there are still alot of variables that need to play out. The trade price of the second pick won't be determined until atleast a week or 2 before the draft. Our picks are more valueable than say the dophins at this point, so our cost would be lower. All pick aren't valued equally. |

Re: Coaching Changes
Williams' defense broke down far too often today against an uninspiring Niners offense. Sure Smith had two great throws near the end of the game, but if the defense was better the two great throws = 14 pts would not change the outcome. Your offense just scored over 30 pts on one of the nastiest defenses in the in the league and yet you let the (questionably serious) Niners offense outscore you?

Re: Coaching Changes
Agreed that was a piss poor showing from the Saints D. The 9ers offense was down right impressive looking the second half. The two big drives at the end that gave them the lead. Smith's 20+ yrd run for the score and the strike to Davis for the game winner, those weren't flukes or just luck. They both were made to look effortless by Alex Smith and the execution of the plays called was superb. Really impressive performance by their whole squad.

Gregg Williams has been an over rated DC, just like Jeff Fisher is as a coach. I'm glad he wasn't made coach of the Redskins. |

GW put together some great defenses here in DC. If we had a damn offense to go with it at any point during Gibbs 2.0 we may have went some where. |

Bend don't break, just like today and then it breaks. I want a Richie Petitbone type D , one that kicks ass. |

Those "great defenses" weren't that great. They would do good limiting the yardage, but if you needed a turnover or pressure, none were to be found. Also, those defenses would break when you needed them the most. Last minute drives by teams to win the game? It was all but in the bag for them against that "great" defense. |
Re: Coaching Changes
Ok maybe they weren't "great" but if we had an offense behind them then maybe there would not have been a chance for a last minute drive to win the game. Meaning those D's were good to a point but when you only scored 19-15 points a game you could lose.
