I think you put Callahan as interim HC and turn over the offense completely to KOC so he can mesh with Haskins and be he sole playcaller. Then hire him the next year as the HC. I think the Browns did that with Freddie Kitchens.

Hes 34 years old, looks 34 years old and has very very limited experience and I just dont think he is anywhere near ready to be the HC for any NFL team, let alone this one.

Sean McVeigh is 33, he's doing okay I think.

Yeah ... I dont think that correlates though.

McVay has Wade Phillips as his D Coord and a GM in Les Snead who spent 14 years as a pro scout and 2 years as director of player personnel and now has been the GM for the Rams the last 7 years. The same Rams GM that pulled off the RG3 trade with us in his first year.

Could OConnell be as good as McVay? Sure
Here, with Bruce/Snyder picking the players and coaching staff? Hell no.

So does Jay Gruden have a coaching tree now with McVay and OConnell as disciples? The only thing jay does well is passing scheme and the only thing McVay and OConnell do is passing scheme ...

And that RG3 trade was a wash, those picks landed very avg players. Don't discredit McVay he's a damn good coach

McVay is a great coach, taking a team to the SB is a big achievement.

If you believe O'Connell has full OC responsibilities then he needs some blame for this shit show and might not be the talent most people think he is.

If you believe Jay has full control over the passing game while Callahan controls the running game then O'Connell isn't a real OC and is not ready for HC.

I'm OK with going with O'Connell as interim HC but at the end of the year, Snyder needs to clean house or nothing will change.
I really believe Jay came into this season looking to get fired and expecting it, he joked way too much about it in the Pre season. When we go down to NE sunday by 30+ I just don't see anyway Dan keeps him Monday.

Hire Kevin O as the new HC
What made you think highly of O'Connell?

This is why I say put Callahan as interim HC and give the entire offense to KOC. If his offense shows improvement and some degree of success, then you can consider him your HC next season. If it doesn't, you can move on from him.

Your interim HC this year is going to be doing a lot of damage control and dealing with a lot of crap from a lost season. Callahan can do this as a former coach. No reason to put KOC there yet. And you leave yourself options by doing this.

The fact folks called the Skins inquiring on his availability to interview was the first thing I heard that he was well respected in some circles.

All coaches, staff, trainers, managers, and anyone else need to GTFO.
Nothing will change replacing a few pieces of this puzzle.

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?

I don't want KO as the head coach. He'll just be a puppet for Dan and Bruce. An in house hire is not what we need. It's the type of hire Bruce will want cause KO isn't a threat to him. We need to first hire a GM and then let him hire his own coach.

As far as McVay goes, people need to realize he could not have walked into a better situation. He had a solid GM, QB, RB and some nice pieces on defense. The Rams job was a better than most jobs a first year coach gets.

Now the entire NFL has a hard on for McVay and whomever talked with the guy gets a job. Btw, no disrespect to him cause he's a solid ass coach who knows his X's and O's.

This makes zero sense. Why would a new Gm come here and be forced to work w/ a coach that he probably doesn't want? Also Smith would in turn be the Gm since he's replacing Allen. SO what you're saying is put Smith as President and then hire a GM and make him work with incumbents? Then also make the new GM get a DC with a HC he probably doesn't want in the first place?? It sounds like your just want to fire guys w/out any plan. Keep your day job Warthog.. lol.

Logic. You see it so rarely nowadays. If you were a chick I'd put a ring on it.
