Okay.. saw some movies that the ladies convinced me to watch..

Remember Me - the cover made me think that it was going to be some sissy romantic movie but it was far from that.. the role of the little sister cracked me up

and as if one Pierce Brosnan movie wasn't enough for the week I also saw The Greatest which was pretty good as well

neither were spectacular have to watch it again soon movies but definitely enjoyed them both

My pick for best film of 2010 (thus far) is Winter's Bone. The lead (played by Jennifer Lawrence) blew me away, considering I've never even heard of her. The story plays out like a mystery. Watch this movie.

I can't decide whether to accept it for what it is or be prepared to be annoyed by how much shit gets added in just to make it watchable.

Just got back from Inception and my mind is f'ing blown!! That movie was awesome. Visually stunning and very original.

To be fair, I guarantee some people are going to bitch that it's too long and there are a few parts that are a little slow, because basically they need to explain some of the crazy stuff that's happening. But I loved it and my sisters who have completely different tastes in movies than I do also enjoyed it.

I've heard from numerous people now that Inception is off the hook. Looks like I'll be seeing it Sunday evening with the wife. DiCaprio is the man.

Matty, glad you liked IB. Such a badass film. Was there anything cooler than the Bear Jew?

Side note: watched Funny People the other day on HBO. Definitely a drama with some good comedy mixed in. Really liked it. Eric Bana's "footy" obsessed side role cracked me up.

Definitely gonna check out Salt as well. Love spy thrillers. Spy Game and the Bourne series are great fun.
I hear Inception is confusing but also getting great reviews. I too want to see it.
I really didn't think it was all that confusing, I guess along the same lines as Memento.
Actually, my biggest complaint is probably that some of it seemed pretty straight forward and they didn't make some of the scenes more dream-like because I know most of my dreams don't make a lot of sense.

I highly recommend Inception, one of those movies that sticks with you for awhile. Can't wait to see it again.

Agreed. After watching it last night with some friends who had already seen it, I felt like they did after their first time watching it and had the itch to see it again to see if I missed anything that was shown or said to provide more clues as to what truly happened throughout the movie. It was one of the best writing jobs I can remember for a movie in a long time and after this movie, the Batman relaunch, and Memento, Christopher Nolan has become on of my favorite directors.

Nolan really knows how to mess with his audiences' heads.

Somehow The Prestige has slipped by me, I need to see it. Memento is one of my favorite flicks and The Dark Knight was great too. Yeah Nolan gets it done.

I saw it last night and I thought the best way to describe it was the equivalent of my mind having a human body and receiving the best bj ever haha. It was mind blowing (double entendre intended) that's for damn sure.

My friends said it was a mind**** to be sure but I didn't think it was confusing at all to be honest. It just stimulated my mind.

If he keeps that as his "worst" movie I can't wait to see what else he brings to the big screen, haha. I can't wait to see what he does for Batman 3 (one rumor has Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a possibility for the Riddler, which has legs since Nolan obviously likes using actors he's familiar with) and my friend is a HUGE Superman fan who has lost his mind with giddiness now that Nolan will be executive producing that relaunch as well.

Just got back from watching Inception. I must say, it has been a long time since I ever felt I got my money's worth at the theaters...Matrix was probably the last time I throughly enjoyed a movie as I have Inception. A+

Yeah confusing isn't the right word, there's just a lot to digest all at once.

What's even more impressive is that Nolan also wrote this. It's rare that you'll see a director of a big budget blockbuster also pen something this sound and creative... he's still got the pen of an independent film writer and I'm glad the studios are giving him the resources to put stuff like this together.

Inception was awesome, best movie I've seen since The Bourne Ultimatum.

Kind of wish Nolan had written and directed at least one episode of Lost, that would have been fun.

anyone seen "Big Fan" with Patton Oswalt? He's an obsessed Giants fan who hgets his ass kicked by the giants star player. There was a huge huge flaw in this movie that I can not believe nobody caught it before it was released. He has a poster in his room of the star player and its says" quarterback killer" on it.Then later hes talking to a sports station saying this player had 2 sacks and a fumble recovery. Then later in movie when player gets suspended the newspaper headline says QB suspended and something else is brought up about him being the qb.I dont see how that doesnt get caught by somebody.
Now i was drinking while watching this movie,so maybe Im just messed up,I need confirmation.

I just have seen Salt last night. Holy Shit it was mindblowing. Jolie as an action chick is great. It is a lot like the Bourne series, but with a woman as the lead. Lots of plot twists to keep you wondering who is on who's side. There is more hand to hand fighting going on thatn in the Bourne series. Whoever was Jolie's stunt double earned her pay and then some!!

Nice! I'll have to see it. The Bourne series is one of my faves of all-time. Salt was originally supposed to star Tom Cruise actually.

I heard though, that she performed most of her own stunts actually

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

They shot some of Salt right in my area in downtown Albany so it's been getting a lot of hype here. I've heard mixed reviews, it's basically mission impossible with Jolie. That's why Cruise turned it down, he thought it was too similar to the MI series. I'll wait for it to be on HBO.

Nolan is just ridiculous. I haven't seen inception yet but I can't think of a movie of his that isn't good. Prestige is probably his least known movie and it is top notch.

And I think the 2 sacks and a fumble recovery thing were all supposed to be in the same game (the first one against the eagles).

Great movie BTW.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

If anyone is a martial arts fan I would highly recommend checking out "Ip Man." It's about the early life of the Wing Chun master who went on to train Bruce Lee. It features some amazing fight choreography thankfully with wire work at a minimum including one fight scene I'd put up there with Tony Ja's fight scene near the end of the "The Protector" as a display of how brutal martial arts can be in the right hands. After watching this movie I've gotta catch up on some other Donnie Yen flicks.

Yeah I saw that last week. Definitely not your typical superhero action flick. It was pretty enjoyable.

Anybody thinking about seeing the latest spoof "Vampires Suck?" I'm debating it but once upon a time I swore to never watch any new spoof movie again after the craptacular Meet the Spartans flick, amongst Date Movie, etc. I can identify with it because I'm definitely a Twilight hater, but I don't know if I dislike it enough to go see a spoof made about it.
