I think if we take a QB, the 2nd round pick would probably be best used to vs the talent that will be there. I think Mallet is worth a look at 10...everyone else probably not. Mallet probably will be gone.
If there has every been a year to trade down out of the 10th, its this year.
There isn't really a QB worth a second round pick. Let's look at the facts, if a guy like Colt McCoy is going to fall to the third round then we can easily expect that next tier of Dalton, Devlin, and Ponder to be there as late as the fourth round. I mean be honest, do you really expect to read a headline like this one day? Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Well Michael Floyd won't be entering the draft and, Blackmon is expected to officially announce he's returning to Oklahoma State later today. So that's two WRs off the board

Leaving us with AJ Green (haha) or Johnathan Baldwin if we want to go the receiver route on draft day. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Blackmon stays

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
We won't be drafting a WR It appears

Baldwin sounds like too much of a gamble & not a shanahan type guy. |

I'm on record saying we need to take AJ Green if he's there at no. 10, but given that he's incredibly unlikely to last that long, and that receivers (below Green) are likely to be horribly misvalued by the drafters, we may best be waiting until the third day to try to find a receiver with the downfield ability to fit what we want to do with our offense. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Uhh the Redskins record of drafting first and second round wr's is not pretty over the last fifteen years.
Rod Gardner (Quite simply the dumbest player ever to put on a Redskins uniform) Desmond Howard(Decent career on another freakin team) Michael Westbrook(Punchy McBust) Taylor Jacobs(The Ghost) Devin Thomas(The most robotic man alive) Malcolm Kelly(Mr. Glass) Stay away from drafting WR's. It's like a franchise curse. |

From what I've seen the only time Shanahan cares about character is when it relates to football. Like when Haynesworth complains about the switch to the 3-4 or when McNabb won't change his mechanics even though he's responsible for a huge decrease in the worm population near Ashburn and Landover. Plus he can't be any worse then Brandon Marshall when it comes to character |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I think I mentioned it a few weeks back, but from what I had heard the Redskins don't (not now at least) plan on addressing their WR need through the draft. Not in the first couple of rounds at least

hes gigantic, has great hands, and is a great route runner. Maybe the tremendous upside isn't there but I wouldn't describe him as a gamble. |

Well that seems wise. The priorities for this team are QB, trenches, and free safety. Maybe ILB, but right now they have a bunch of cap room with young players like Tulloch and Rudd ready to hit free agency. |

I think if the right qb is not there we go defense in the first two rounds. Von Miller would be a good pick at 10. |
