I could be completely wrong, but I have a feeling that the Redskins are awaiting the whole Fangio situation to play out in SF. I believe he is free to resign if he's passed over for the HC position (or something like that).

Meanwhile, some of us are huge fans of Phillips because we love his resume, and don't want Barry or Morris(forgive me Skinzman :D) because their past defenses have sucked.

Maybe Barry really did get the short end of the stick in Detroit. Who knows? But people gave Haslett his share of excuses too, and look how that turned out.

Anyway, I don't like the hire(if this is for real), but we needed a change from Haslett. Maybe this guy is the right one. I doubt it.

It’s impossible to ignore the Tampa Bay connection here. Barry, Jay Gruden and Raheem Morris all coached on the same staff with the Buccaneers. In 2009, after he got fired from Detroit, Barry returned to coach the Bucs’ linebackers again. It was Morris who hired him. Morris served as head coach and defensive coordinator at that time. [B]Most importantly, however, Bruce Allen was general manager in Tampa from 2004-08. He’s a big Joe Barry fan[/B].

Everyone is all for giving our GM a 2nd chance, but a lot of people here aren't willing to do the same for Barry? That lions team was literally like the worst ever, no coordinator was doing anything with those players. Lets give him a chance, I like that he's a younger guy (in coach age). Its not Haslett again, good enough for me. Now if we can get Randy Gregory/Williams at #5 and the GM can find another corner and safety in the draft we can really head in right direction on defense.
