Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Hmm...Paulsen said that one of LL's people said that he is not necessarily done in DC. But he also said that the Redskins won't be making the first offer.

Smart move by the Skins FO. I think Landry, along w/ his supporters, are in for a shock when they see how modest the offers for his services will be after two lousy seasons and the uncertainty of his recovery. Laron has done the team no favors...ever. No point in extending him one. |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Seems like the Jets and EAGLES are the strongest contenders for LaRon now. Makes me sick...either team.
However, since he still has not had surgery for some insane reason, I don't think we have to worry about him doing much damage against us, but seeing him in an Eagles uniform will make me puke. He was one of my favorite current Skins. |

Do they need a new strength & conditioning coach? I can't see him doing anything else. |

Maybe he can resurrect his career with either the Eagles or the Jets. |

Bears are reportedly interested too.
Just shows how close the line between great and a disaster can be in the NFL. Area 51 could have been so great...if only. |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Saying LL was destined to be a bust is highly overrated. During the half a season that Landry and Taylor played together our secondary was playing amazing. With Landry patrolling the box Taylor was able to become the ballhawking safety we all envisioned (5 picks in the first half of 07) and we were all talking about how we were set at the safety position for years to come.
08 and 09 Landry fell off when they tried to move him to FS and he struggled to adjust, mainly because he's not a guy you can trust in space. But when Haslett joined the Skins with Shanny in 2010, the first half of 2010 saw Landry moved back to SS where he once again started balling his ass off before he got injured, and ever since then he's never been the same player. He definitely has the potential to be a playmaker in this defense, all we have to do is put him in a position to succeed (aka in the box SS), minimize how often he gets left alone in coverage, and make sure that he's completely healthy. |

It took a while before the Cowboys realized it with Roy Williams even though the glitzy hits were great to look at on Sportscenter. It's also the reason why the Patriots just up and released their 2 time pro-bowl safety Brandon Meriweather with no real backup in place. Landry + #21 was a very effective tandem. |

Sigh. This is one of those things you don't normally hear about where the player sacrifices for the team. It's just a shame the way things have turned out. |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Said he hurt it when he shot up his ankle. Doesn't mean he tore his achilles becuase of the shot.
As part of the job you're expected to play hurt w/in reason. In hindsight you can always say any injury wouldn't have happened if... If there's really a correlation here & there was medical advice for him not to play, then I have some sympathy. Otherwise, it's football & everyone gets hurt, everyone has a short career compared to other professions. Sadly, his may be on the down side, I'm just not so eager to blame the Skins or deem him a total team player, just cause he tweets that he got hurt when his ankle was shot up. |
Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Nice way to go about announcing that LaRon....
The nimrods should stay off Twitter. |
