Get some before it's gone |
Not sure if DFH is a microbrew any more, but I tried the DFH sixty one.
It's essentially the 60min IPA with grape must or something. Kinda weird, but really good. Give it a shot.
You could essentially call this thread Let's talk craft brews, as you are right about DFH no longer being a Microbrew. But as long as it's not a macrobrew, I imagine that people will want to hear about it. Picked up a 4 pack of Evolution Brewing's Rise Up Stout and a 6 pack of this year's Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout over the weekend but didn't get a chance to drink either. Never had Evo's coffee stout before but Kujo is amazing. |
re: Let's talk
I finally tried Sierra Nevada Torpedo, not sure how this one has missed my radar for so long. Awesome stuff.

It's the best bang for your buck IMO. Solid IPA. |

Here is a smattering of what we had: New Belgium Ranger IPA - Nice hoppy IPA, reminded me of the Flying Dog IPA offerings. Brew Dog Hardcore IPA - Also a nice hoppy IPA, a big contrast from their Punk IPA that I had tried previously. Quite tasty. DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus (Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter) - Wow. This is a dessert beer if I've ever had one. Tastes like a peanut butter cup. While dark in color, drink very light. Quite tasty. I followed a few of these with the Kujo Coffee Stout, and that made me enjoy the coffee stout even more, brought out a lot of the bitterness in the Kujo. I have a 22 of this in my fridge waiting for me: Heavy Seas Siren Noire, an imperial chocolate stout aged in bourbon barrels. This may have to wait until next weekend, unless I slip it in one night this week. |
re: Let's talk
^ If we lived closer I would be dropping in at your place all the time lol

re: Let's talk
^ wish I still lived in Frederick- as I would be stopping by as well.
I've found a kind of interesting set of beers that are delicious. OAK AGED UNEARTHLY IPA Beer Page - Southern Tier Brewing Company The unearthly IPA can come both oak aged and non oak aged. It's nice to see exactly what flavors the oak imparts onto the beer. Give it a try if you find it |

Maybe I got a bad six pack or something because I didn't have the flavorings I would've expected. |

It's possible. Since it's a porter, it runs "thinner" than the stouts I've been drinking lately so it wasn't as robust. But to me, the flavor was decent. A buddy of mine said 16 Mile Brewery in Georgetown did them one better, and Shorebilly Brewing on the boards in OC has one as well. I finally had Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale on tap last night. Very good. My wife thought it was clever that I ordered a beer that perfectly describes me. I had no rebuttal :) |

I will have to pick it up before winter's over. |
re: Let's talk
Drinking a Cigar City Jai-Alai. Very tasty IPA that I have only recently been able to get. After that it will be Flying Dog The Truth double IPA which in my oppinion is the best thing they brew.
