Division titles and 1 Super Bowl appearance are nothing? Shit, this is worst than the time you proposed a straight trade between Campbell and Chris Simms.
lol I don't remember that but damn, |
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
Gibbs, Beathard and Marty have all endorsed this hire. That's good enough for me. It is a move that was both wanted and needed. You won't hear me bitchin'. I'm going to enjoy the honeymoon. HTTR!!! :woot:
Well let's remember that he did field some very good teams in Oakland when he was there and won NFL executive of the year in 02. Would he have been my first choice? No. But let's give the guy a chance. And let's remember that every GM misses on draft picks.
Well said, very well said. And anyone that thinks any GM is going to act independently of what the entire organization wants or without heavy input from the coach and owner is kidding themselves, seriously kidding themselves. You think Tony Dungy and Jim Irsay, in spite of Bill Polian, didn't have major input on roster moves? You think Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft, in spite of Scott Pioli, didn't have major input on roster moves? That doesn't make Polian and Pioli "yes men" |
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
For those wishing Zorn is going to stay, it ain't happening. New GM's don't retain coaches. It doesn't happen at least to my recollection. I can't think of any example.

Allow me...
I've had some more time to think, and have come up with the changes I would like to see made to our starting team in 2009... COMMENTS *Jason Campbell Traded to Tennessee for Chris Simms, straight up. Jason Campbell is an ideal fit for Tennessee's offense. Chris Simms is an ideal fit for our offense. Its a good deal for both teams. Maybe we could get a low-round pick in addition to Simms for Campbell, but I don't think Vinny is that good of a negotiator. **2nd round pick acquired via trade for Carlos Rogers. Normally, I wouldnt like the move, but Asomugha is a clear upgrade over Carlos, and this move would garner us a draft pick.
|
Anyone else think that Allen's voice sounded very similar to Gruden's? Kinda spooky.
Yeah I noticed that too, same type of speech patterns and accent. Weird. |

So what do we use to address Bruce Allen in the short hand? I'm imagining something similar to George McPhee, though instead of GMGM we use GMBA for Allen. |
So by that logic, this team has been way below your standards for years. Yet you're complaining when the Dan is actually manning up and at least trying to go in a different direction?
I've pissed on The Dan and spewed hatred at the man for many a day. This day wasn't one of the them.
I thought that it was obviously sarcastic, I guess that I was wrong haha |

I tend to agree. Zorn was unqualified when he came in and while he's done an admirable job at holding things together and keeping his chin up during a really shitty time, I'm sure one of the things Allen is working on right out of the gate is evaluating potential head coach candidates. If this is Allen's ship to run, he needs to bring in his guys. |

Where are Spence and Skinny Tee? Thoughts on Snyder's move?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
One possibility/prediction:
Zorn stays a year because they can't get Gruden out of his deal w/espn w/out paying big $. In addition, they would have to pay Zorn to fire him too. So, Zorn gets a year but then they negotiate w/Gruden to coach in 2011 when it's easier to get him out of his espn deal. |

Certainly you can argue that there are better choices than Allen out there, bu for the five plus years I've been part of this board the two most common sentences I've seen written here are "We need a GM" and "We need to get rid of Vinny"
Well in one morning, we did both....and we still complain
Wish we could end the thread on this note.
I second that. |
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
We have a real GM! We can debate about whether or not Allen was the best choice (he seems like a solid choice to me), but simply having changed the structure of the FO makes us better.
I hope that we look back on today as one of the brightest in Redskins history. |
