Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Not sure if blowing it all up and starting over again from a coaching standpoint is the best route however it is hard to ignore stupid penalties, various mental errors, poor execution, and the inability to play 4 complete quarters. Never been a huge fan of Mike Shanahan but looking at his career, isn't this whats happening now the reason he was ran out of Denver? I do think Mike can coach some football, like him or not, the man has coached some of the game's best, been a part of highly successful football operations, and has been around a very long time. We have a very good offense, a trademark of Shanny teams, and he IMO completely screwed up the defense by 1) hiring Haslett, 2) forcing the 3-4 because it was "sexy" at the time. In his last few years in Denver, talented offenses and absolutely terrible defenses.
He has followed suit as well with player acquisitions. He has made some absolutely boneheaded decisions regarding players and coach selections, but has also made some saavy acquisitions as well. I'm okay if he finishes put his contract but am also okay with moving on and if we do decide to move on...it needs to be some one very confident and strong enough of a personality to deal with RGIII. Yes I said it :). Love the guy and was ion cloud nine when we picked him and watched him lead us last year. With that said, he has slightly gotten on my nerves beginning with the campaign to play week one. He is starting to come of as a bit of a prima dona IMO. If we move on, in really would like to a Mike Tomlin or Tom Coughlin type of coach who will lay the law down and establish a culture of both nastiness and killer instinct. I dare say it...but...a Rex Ryan type would be a great fit. He completely annoys me but watching a few Jets games his players play like they would run through a brick wall for the guy... |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
If we promote Kyle to HC I'll have to take a WP hiatus till he gets shit-canned in a year or two.
For the record, I don't dislike Mike because he's an asshole. Belichick's an asshole and I would love to have him for HC. Same goes for Jeff Fisher, Jim Schwartz and Gregg Williams from what you hear. Take any of those cats over Shanny too, because all those guys have done far more impressive things in the last decade. Shanny's been terriible since 2005 and before that he had a lot of help being in a weak division. He's in the weakest division in football and and is still losing. What he's earned in the last decade is probably an OC gig at an already SB contending team. He hasn't won more than ten games in a season since 05' either. Kyle probably deserves an OC gig somewhere too. Could we keep one of them for OC? It'd seem weird because the new HC isn't Kyle. The plan didn't work. |
Not to name drop, but I just talked to him about it yesterday. He's been open to it, but now he's really leaning toward no
You're not @TMM75 on twitter, are you? Otherwise, Shaw is a bit of a chatty Cathy...
@TMM75: @HTTR24_7 @UkRedskin1 @kcclyburn Can confirm, got it straight from the Cardinal's mouth yesterday [in reference to Shaw]. Though feelings are subject to change
|
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I would have added Moss cause I thought they were looking at a WR who went to San Diego instead and I'd have to say the RT would have been someone else.
That's fair, but they could have released Moss for the cap room anyway. Royal wasn't available this offseason, but similar players were.

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Atlanta might be our only possible win left on the schedule. Does 4-12 guarantee whole coaching staff turnover? (Question applies to both Skins and falcons)
Hard to see Mike Smith getting the boot. No idea what happens with us though. I'll say this, it'd be a travesty to see us miss out on another quality HC. We've missed so many great opportunities waiting for Shanny to figure things out. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Sometimes it feels easier to envision myself either not watching football ever again or turning coats and changing team loyalty vs the likelihood of ever finding a winning combination of talent and coaching to make this team and franchise to not be the laughing stock of the sports world.
Blow it up. Don't enable and reward this George Hamilton wannabe, his boy wonder son, and Andy Dick looking DC. They don't belong in their current positions in the NFL. |

A topic that's been troubling me recently. The question I had for my rational self is: At what point do you take a look at the product you're supporting and question why you continue to do so? I'm closer this season than any other to just not watching football anymore. The game is changing to less of a contact sport, overly protective of the stars that are perceived as making the NFL the money. Add to the the amount of 'suck' that the Redskins have employed this season and it's ceased to be the enjoyable, if frustrating, spectacle it's always been for me. I would spoof a Yelp review of the Redskins but I'm far too lazy. |

Football was never created to be a 51-48 score. Also the Redskins haven't been in legit contention in almost 20 years. Yet, there is nothing else to do. |

They're not exactly must-see TV. It's like watching a blend of the last three seasons, except instead of a highlight reel, it's a coaches' cut of "plays that need the most improvement." Consequently, I'm just not nearly as invested in the 2013 NFL season, as I've been in years past. |

It seems the players do not like the changes and Hate the rules. Look there is a reason the players are making millions and ....they know that at any play they could end up paralized or worse. Thus the big paychecks. Now if they want flag football then the owners need to argue that there is no major risk and their salaries should be majorly reduced to reflect that. Another reason was owners did not provide health insurance so players had to get their own ecpensive ones, but I think the owners were forced to provide insurance now. They knew the risk and still chose to play. And their getting paid for that risk. Everytime there is a new law for safety there should be a reduction in salary due to a reduction in risk. |
Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
These are a few of the moves that this regime has made that left me shaking my head:
1) McNabb trade. Why do it when you are trying to get younger and build from draft. Cost us potentially 2 starters for a 1 year rental. 2) Re-signing Moss and Fletcher to stupid over priced contracts. I'm more irked about this than anything. (especially the Fletcher contract) You know you are stripped of cap money and have to use it wisely. Spending 5-7mil/yr on a over the hill LB is beyond moronic. Take notes from the Bears. You have to say......"see ya".....when the time comes. Good teams don't hold onto players for sentimental value. Notice the Ravens didn't bother trying to bring back Ed Reed, and I'm certain they wouldn't have brought back Ray Lewis this year either. The thing about this is that there were better options in free agency that would have cost us less than what we signed these guys for. 3) Josh Morgan signing. I understand signing him, but was he really commanding that type of contract? Man we got shafted in that deal. 4) Hiring Jim Haslett (or not firing him) from the get go. Didn't understand it then, don't understand anymore now. I'm not going to rip mike on any failed draft selections. Look at the best GM in the league and you'll notice he'll have a high failure rate on draft picks as well. |

Next summer ill be camping out by the Kool-aid punch bowl. It's frustrating b/c from the outside looking in its so simple. Don't enter battle with your QB as the shield for starters. I am almost rooting for the eagles to unseat Dallas. |

So I am there. As a husband and a dad, don't have a lot of free time, so why am I 'wasting it' on team or more in line with this commercially/corporate oriented enterprise, a product, that is a lousy product. |
