Michael Thomas , Zeke , TW, Melvin Gordon.. All absent. It happens everywhere, the only reason it's a big story is because it's the Redskins.
It's a big story here. I'm sure those other holdouts are big stories in their respective cities. Actually the holdouts in general are a big story because many of them area a result of the upcoming bargaining agreement So anyone who doesn't have guaranteed money between now and when the current CBA expires is probably going to hold out to get some insurance money. That's the financial part of the TW situation that few people talk about (which is what Trent's agent probably wants to happen). TW has no guaranteed money left in his contract and the team can release him with little repercussion. So any guaranteed money would be insurance to him if there is no CBA agreement and players go on strike. |

Better not be, to hold out then come back and flunk a drug test would not be cool. |

A part of me wondered if someone on the medical staff told him to smoke some pot for the cancer, and that started this feud. OBVIOUSLY that is a pure imaginary hypothetical conspiracy theory, but there are only so many ways I can imagine that TW would have gotten this upset about the handling, and referencing his past issues would likely be one... |

I think the only proven benefit of smoking pot if you have cancer is if the cancer or it's treatment has caused a person to lose their appetite. |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
I'm very suspicious of reporting around this.
If Trent's relationship with the Redskins was truly fractured, he or his agent would have said so publicly. Such would be their incentive - they would be trying to force a trade or release by any means necessary. The fact that Trent and his agent have been completely silent makes me believe this is a play for dollars. The word getting out that he's not happy with the medical staff is just an arrow in his quiver to strengthen his negotiating position. I continue to think he'll definitely be back for week 1, new contract or not. |

So we shall see |

No way does he leave all those millions on the table.

If you have serious pain by the time you drink it or smoke it away, you are either staggering drunk or heavily stoned and in a catatonic state. Nothing helps serious pain like the opioid pain killers they won't prescribe anymore. I have to say F**K all the drug addicts that made it impossible for people that really need it to get help for pain. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
So, as of now, TW has said nothing. The only thing he has done, is not show up. Granted the are stories that may or may not come from his camp.
If TW wanted to move on, I see no advantage in staying completely silent. TW himself may not be one to do that, but it would be to his advantage for his agent to come right out and say it. Despite JLC story, there has been no formal trade request. If he only wanted out to DC that would already have happened. It sounds like he's upset bc the medical staff said he could wait until after the season to address the scalp issue and then he got a real scare. Who knows if anyone is in the wrong here, but either way he got shook. So now he wants some more insurance (in the form of monetary compensation likely). He's a team guy, so rather than start a big controversy and likely get moved from the team, he's just staying quiet in the media, he let his camp leak an inkling of what got him upset, and otherwise is letting his absence talk. Redskins aren't budging it seems. Which could prove problematic. If they let him stay upset, it could cause conflict between the most respected player in the locker room and the FO. Hopefully they make some gesture that makes him feel heard, because it sounds like that is part of this. Most likely he'll play come week 1. The question that has me most concerned is will he come back happy or disenfranchised? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
The bolded parts are what worries me. As I and others said, I still think it's nothing money can't fix. But I sure hope this is not a conflict that'll parasite the locker room. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Does anybody know for sure if the growth on trents head was cancer ? I have a friend who is going through exact situation.. he has a significant lump on his scalp and it was seen by doctor several months ago .. he still has not found out if it is cancer or not ( scheduled for biopsy) .. unfortunately it takes time to get an appointment..you would think a serious issue would be quicker to find out.. I hope he turns out to be okay ..

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Donald Penn will definitely be a redskin

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
This is about getting more money now. I think that the Redskins are going to have to use top future draft picks for the OL. They've fixed the DL ,now the OL needs help for the future.
The team has $12 mill in cap money available. It may go to getting FA help for the OL. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Per Ian Rapoport
Veteran offensive tackle Donald Penn is flying to Washington DC today to sign a 1-year deal with the #Redskins tomorrow, sources say. Key veteran help given Trent Williams’ likely lengthy holdout. |
