People bitch when we almost traded our first for CJ, now ppl are bitching for the picks we've selected...sheesh is there no pleasing ppl? Hey, we're going to have ten new players from this draft, so chill out...we're not trading them for any players and we haven't traded any picks for next year as well.

By the way, check out the video of that kid Brooks booming a punt for 76 yards in one of the other threads...hey I'm ok with that.
Well, we picked a guard in the third round, I believe it was Chad Rinehart, then in the fourth we took Justin Tryon, CB. Then we traded our fifth for two sixths, and with the first we selected a punter named Durant Brooks.
Thank you, now I am up to speed.

I heard that Rinehart was good...but I know nothing about Tyron, or a kid named Brooks.
2nd day makes it double the fun.
LOL...well, I just spent time with God and time with friends and I got caught up on our picks in 5 minutes. I'd say that's a good swap!
Besides, I generally will leave early for the games during the season. God and I have an understanding that I don't want to miss games...so the least I can do is give him the offseason.

Finally a great pick! Kareem Moore is going to be a good safety for us. Look for him to be out Reed Doughty.
I will say that your boy Monk would have been a better pick up than a punter
I don't think we're getting monk after drafting two quality wr's in the 2nd. For as much as I wanted monk, I had no idea we could get Thomas and Kelly...so I'm satisfied with that.

Charlie Caserly said, among first year coaches, Zorn is having the best draft.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Colt's pretty raw but he's not a terrible pick in the 6th round. I don't think he was their first, second, or maybe even third choice at QB but where they took he's not a bad choice.

Probably least happy with this pick out of all picks, but it's hard to get too upset about it
Here's the synopsis: Vinny and Co and stupid. I mean, we took a freaking punter in the 6th round. Sheesh... All I can hope for now is that we take Colt Brennan with our pick coming up.
Woohoo! I'm psyched to see us pick up Brennan. I think this kid has the potential to be a decent backup studying with Zorn and Collins.

Darrell Robertson is still there hopefully he will make it to our 7th round pick but I doubt it.

I like the Brennan pick. I mean some more o-line depth would have been nice, but I'm not the one making these decisions clearly.
I think the pick though is interesting, I don't think Brennan will ever be a starter in this league but you never know. I can't wait to see him in the preseason!

Mayock said something about him being hurt and being put on the IR and the Redskins getting a free year to develop him ... not really clear on what he was saying. Anyone have an idea? Did Brennan have an injury in the postseason?

I thought we would address DE in the middle rounds, but I guess not, there are still a couple good guys on the board though, like Tommy Blake, and Johnny Dingle.

No I didn't hear anything about that, but I do know he had surgery after their bowl game. He was on Rome Is Burning talking about it but he said that if he gets an opportunity to play next year he would be 100%.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Question - Let's say Jansen comes back and reclaims his starting spot, okay. So then you have Steph Heyer as a back-up, Chad Rinehart the other back-up, then maybe someone like Fabini and Todd Wade as back-ups? That's three. Did Puc get cut?

Who else, at this early stage, figures to be on the roster as a reserve?

Brennan is coming off hip surgery. He'll probably be good to go by camp.

Do you think the Redskins will ever draft a DE?

I would like to see us at least pick up someone in the 7th. Maybe Jason Jones, Jeremy Geathers or Marcus Howard.

He had a torn labrum in his hip just before the Senior Bowl I think. He just underwent surgery which will probably sideline him through the preseason. The feeling was that short term it would set him back, but for his long term prospects it was an absolute necessity.

I think I'd prefer a DT, or a run-stuffing DE. I know he's not all that popular but what Phillip Daniels brings to the team is really overlooked in my opinion, and we need the next PD.

LB might not be bad either. Has Ben Moffit been taken?

I LOVE the Brennan pick. I know you guys aren't high on him, but I watched him a lot this past year because I wanted to immerse myself in all things Hawaii since I went there, and he is a great QB. He needs a little work, but I think if (God forbid) anything happens to Campbell or he regresses, this could be a steal.

You know, this may sound silly but I think the Durant pick may end up being the best pick for us. Serisously. Hear me out.

Last year Frost was pretty good, but he had a lot of punts returned for good yardage. I would chalk that up to hang time issues. Our defense constantly started on a short field as a result. This pick may help out a great deal on the defensive side of the ball.

I wonder what was our opponents average starting field position after change of possesion?
Next three picks should be DT and DE
I just don't think we're going to get anything of value from those positions this late in the draft.
So if we are to go for those positions, go get the biggest badasses you can find and coach them up for a year or two then let them loose.

Booty is overrated. Brennan is a quality player that just needs little coaching to be special.
