he was a 2nd round pick, though projected as a low 1st rounder on ssome draft boards.
correction made, thanks |
Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
I would give Cory Raymer a big fat ZERO for his awful performance against the Seahawks. A veteran like that should have been more prepared. The whole sorry affair begs the question, "What the hell did Lenny Friedman do to get himself released?" Friedman was a true utility player with experience at both positions. I only remember Raymer playing center.
I also felt you were too hard on Dockery. He's not that bad. |

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
Dockery did good this season, he still needs some work but i hope to have him here for a long time, because i think buges can straighten him out and improve his performance. Oh yeah you also said Randy Thomas played left guard in his bio, when he actually plays right guard.

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
Excellent job Matty. I agree with all the grades except Robert Royal and Derrick Dockery. I was so disappointed with Robert Royal, I wanted to see him released. He dropped too many passes. I would give him a C-. I think Derrick Dockery showed a lot of improvement and had a solid year. I would like to see him resigned. I think he is getting better with experience. He has tremendous size and quickness for a big guy and I don't want to give up on him yet. I think he was a B-.

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
not to stick up for raymer because i thought he was brutal in the seattle game also but...(there is always a but, isnt there?)why was he even in the game?he is a center by trade and wasnt molaniro drafted as a guard?why have him on the roster if you cant use him?matty and malcolm, great job and good reading.

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
Raymer's god awfulness in the Seattle game shows just how good Ray Brown was doing filling in for Thomas. I wish Ray would stick around again for one more year. He can still be a valuable asset like he was this year. Too bad he like has a family he cares about and all that. Stupid athletes and their family priorities! Don't they know they live to serve us fans?

I think they felt that giving Molinaro his first game action in a close playoff game might be somewhat overwhelming and maybe a vet like Raymer could handle it better. I am guessing after Raymer looked like what I would look like trying to block for the Skins Molinaro would have been able to go in the game more relaxed knowing he couldn't possibly be that bad. But Brown was able to come back in. |

I think minus the one game in which Royal dropped like 5 balls, he had a pretty solid season overall. He's still a good red-zone threat. I would expect to see him take on more of a role with Saunders being here, not like a Tony Gonzales however. |
Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
very good point. was molinaro inactive? raymer looked like a high school player inhis first college game. the refs had mercy on him because they could have called holding several more times then they did. one of the worst performances by a pro lineman i have ever seen. i am really struggling to recall when a redskin ever looked so bad in the interior of the line. usually those guys are anonymous. it takes a lot to look so bad.
time to pat him onthe back for years past and nudge him into retirement. we need another reserve center. it also made the front office look bad when they chose to keep him over friedman inthe middle of the year. even lennie never looked that bad at guard.. |
Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
it ain't like brown would be playing kicker or coming in for a few passes like proehl or some of the older receivers. he gets pounded on every play as an interior lineman.
let him ride into the sunset with all his body parts still working. no reason to go out onhis shield, he has more than paid his dues. thanks for a job really well done, ray..!!! |
Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
great job matty... i'd have to concur on the r. thomas assertion. without him, our running game isn't as dynamic- and that slows everything else down.

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense

Re: Redskins 2005 Report Cards - Offense
Looking back on the Dallas game tape you can see Thomas just flat out plowing the road for Portis. Losing him may have honestly cost us a trip to the Superbowl. We have to pick up a young kid that can pull like Thomas to back up the guard position.
