I'd also like to point out that John Madden was 9-7 in important football games, and his own players said that they would have won at least two more Super Bowls with any other coach.
I think Madden got in on what he's done to promote the NFL with his football video games....... ;)
No the voters would just come back and say, see that's why we took so long to pick him............not desrving.

Maybe we should start a compaign and start writing to Peter King and Paul Z's boss's telling them what lousy journalist they are.......
not only that but stop buying their mags. stop reading the papers that these idiots work for and stop visiting their sites and reading their online columns. they will continue with this power trip over monk and any other redskins player until they realize that we no longer wish to hear what they have to say. that is the only thing that will get through to them. they think they can control what happens with this type of thing because we still support their mags, papers or sites.to them any publicity is good publicity. they know we will still read what they have to say no matter how much we might disagree. its a win-win situation for them

Re: 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

THE HOF COMMITTEE ARE A BUNCH OF HIPPOCRITES.

Art Monk is a Wide Receiver's receiver. He exhibited all of the intangibles and character that these bastards criticize Micheal Irving, Terrell Owens and Keyshawn Johnson for not having. Art Monk's numbers are not the problem. The team that he represented is the problem. No New York writer wants to give credit to this organization, thus Peter King pushes the envelope for Harry Carson who didn't even care to be in this piece of shit. Remember how long it was before George Allen was inducted? He had been dead for at least ten years. He was an afterthought. I can only recall Joe Gibbs and John Riggins being inducted before Allen.

Let's channel all of our anger against Peter King and the rest of those backward thinking idiots who exhibit nothing but contempt for the Redskins organization. Stop buying Sports Illustrated and any other magazine that disrespects our team. Now's the time to let every biased sportswriter who voted against Art Monk feel the power of rejection.

Rod Woodson was the first person to express his dissappointment at the committee overlooking Art Monk. He said," for some reason they don't want Art Monk in the HOF, but when he retired he was one of the most prolific receivers in the league." This only confirms what all of us Redskins have been saying for years.

Dan Akrush of Pro-Football Weekly has been a long time supporter of Art Monk too. I'm canceling my SI subscription and citing King, Zimmerman as the reasons......Has to be an anti-Redskin bias, and a lot of the writer's don't like Dan Snyder either so that can't help, but you'd think with Joe Gibbs putting in a good word that maybe just maybe they'd listen to a Hall of Fame Coach, in fact the player's coach..... I knew Reggie White was a shew in and as was Troy Boy  but you'd think Art would be there.......SIGH Maybe if Art beat women (Moon chocked his wife until she was almost unconscious)or maybe if he took drugs, he'd get into the HOF. Art has a quiet classiness, just TOO CLASSY I guess. http://www.mndaily.com/daily/1995/10/11/editorial_opinions/efball/

The hall is a joke if they don't step up for Monk. For all the lipservice the NFL pays to character and professionalism, what it really rewards is flash and money. To think, if Monk had acted more like Irvin, he'd be closer or in the hall. That's what this says. If that's the standard here, I'm glad Monk isn't in--he's a better person than that. We all know he'll never raise his voice against this; he's above that. We fans have to take every and any opportunity to promote Monk. It may be that it won't come to anything, but you never know.

ART MONK, #81--He's in the ring of fame at FedEx. That's a higher honor anyway. F*** the Hall!
I think Madden got in on what he's done to promote the NFL with his football video games....... ;)
That and his brilliant broadcast journalism skills. The way he points out that QBs want to be throwing touchdowns instead of interceptions enlightened millions to a game previously unkknown to the general public. Madden: "See, what the defense wants to do here is make a big play and prevent the offense from scoring." No shit John.

Putting Carson in ahead of Art Monk is an absolute joke, it is also why no one here should get worked up over the HOF voting, it's fantasy! The fact that they can take Carson who was a MLB in a 3-4 scheme is ubsurd.

A crucial stop in the SB against Denver? What on earth was crucial for the Giants in that game? They blew denver out! I really had to laugh at the justification for that vote. Was Carson ever the best at his position? Never, Art Monk was, what NFL records did Carson hold? None! And lets face it he wasen't even a part of the best defense in the NFL, that prize went to the Bears. Art Monk was the primary WR on the most prolific offense in NFL history in 1983. Carson doesn't even hold all time Giant records!

That vote for Carson should send a message to everyone here, just like the officiating we recieved the first year and half of Gibbs return, the HOF is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a travesty this is.

Harry Carson was a good player but if he is a Hall of Famer, then so is Chris Hanburger. Hanburger played 14 seasons, 9 Pro Bowls, lost one Super Bowl. Carson: (13,9, and won 1) 7 of his Pro Bowls were after LT, Banks, and Marshall arrived.

Is Rayfield Wright even in the Cowboys Ring of Honor? I've been in Texas stadium several times and don't remember his name up there. If he's not, that means its easier to get into the HOF than into the Cowboys ROH. What a Joke!

Update: Rayfield Wright was inducted into the ROH in 2004. Twenty five years after he retired. It took a while for his own fans to apprciate him, I guess.

Derrick Thomas is more deserving than Carson, Wright, Madden, or Moon. Surely the voteers don't hate Lamar Hunt.

After watching Peter King on Charlie Rose last night I realized that PK knows nothing about the game. His whole approach is based on hyping individual story lines with lots of conytroversy and/or sentimentality. If he can find some New York connection then so much the better. Artur should wear KIng's disrespect like a badge of honor because King is a simpleton.

It kills me to say it but Aikman is a claas guy. I wish he had played for us. Norv Turner will introduce him at the induction ceremony.

How did Grimm's presence in Detroit as a coach effect his chances? My first thought is that it would have helped since there is more balogna for the media that way. But perhaps the voters would have viewed that as creating a distraction for Pitt or endorsing Pitt.

Can we get a new avatar, for anyone to use regardless of # of posts, with monk pissing on the hall of fame logo/building? If not that how bout a HOF logo inside the no smoking sign. SCREW THE HOF!!!

i'm not suprised that monk didn't make it. He deserves it more so than other finalists. I think every year the voters just regard him as filler, just someone who makes it to the finals but never has a good shot of getting in. Until the HOF elects new voters i don't think we'll be seeing him in there. Someday he'll get what he rightfully deserves.

With LT at one OLB and Carl Banks at the other, plus an excellent D-line that included Leonard Marshall, Carson was just another guy IMHO. He was good, but not HOF good. It's ironic that the same morons (Peter King and Paul Zimmerman) that are lobbying to keep Monk out, have waged the campaign that finally got Carson elected. It's time for Wilbon and Lenny Shapiro to step up and wage a campaign on Monk's behalf.

It will be interesting to see whether the clowns voting on the HOF screw D. Green when he becomes eligible.

I'm still upset that not a single Hog has gotten in yet...and what about Gary Clark. Hell even Dave Butz, while we're at it Dexter Manley
