Meeting Brud at the Redskins-Jets opener.
How the f**k can he still be standing when he's that hammered. Incredible. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
1.Dallas At Redskins 2005. I've never been to a game that was as loud or ever seen a crowd so happy...
2.Lions at Redskins playoffs 2000. I was in the endzone where Leslie Shepherd broke a tackle and sprinted into the endzone to basically end the game. The loudest game I had attended until the above game. I attended the game with my future wife and it's a treasured memory we both share. Most of the boyz we went with left the stands at halftime and got trashed at the bar. Then after the game we met the Hogettes! 3.Lions at Redskins 1995. Mr. Darrell Green picked off a pass in overtime on the 6 yard line and scored the winning TD. I was in the endzone and in the background of the TV shot of the players mobbing DG in the endzone. 4.Darrell Green's last game. Dec 29th, 2002. Awesome emotion from DG's pregame award ceremony to LaVar winning the game on a fumble recovery in the endzone. Thanks Darrell, for the memories... 5.1997 opening day of Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. I was in the last few rows of the upper deck in the corner, but it was the baptism on the stadium, we won in overtime and me and my best bud, Fetz, had the time of our lives, from what little I can recall... 6.The 2007 NFC Championship when the Redskins beat the (fill in the blank) for the NFC Championship on their way to winning Super Bowl XLI... |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
No question.
35-7. It was like a dream. Gibbs vs Parcells in 2005; Cowboys vs Redskins. 4pm. It was unlike any game I've ever seen or been to. Honestly I was just happy to see Joe Gibbs on the sideline at all in this millenium. We are truly lucky to be Redskins fans. Few coaches were as great, kind, honest, hardworking, intelligent and HOFers... Joe Gibbs is a one of a kind person and coach. I'd like to see all those Gibbs doubters talk now after they've seen what he can bring to the team, the fans and the community. Thanks to all those fans that were at that game as we watched the Cowboys fans leaving at the half 28-0. At one point it was 35-0!!! Fed Ex was changed forever. Gotta give props to Dan Snyder for somehow making the impossible happen. 35-7 completed sweep of the Cowboys and kept us ahead in the wildcard race. Perhaps one of the best days of my life. |

Then there was the time when Elijah got to go watch us play Minnesota another time and had Dream Field seats.
Had a great time but there were these two guys in there early 20's that thought they knew it all about the Redskins. Who were them guys? lol |

lol They were great to hang out with and yes they were. Throw a rock at a pack of dogs and the one hit comes up yelping. FYI to others we wound up sitting next to cpayne and Daseal and had an awesome time and booed Moss as he walked off early. Remember that? |
daseal, when were you at heinz field?i went 2 years ago and if the skins would have done anything offensively, they would have won.i think the score was 20-14.pittsburg fans are cool people though.
I was there w/ my brother in law (wife's fam is from Pitt). Good game for us. Even the fans up there were respectful- said if we had anything resembling an offense that we should beat em. We had Bettis in check for 3 qts that day. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I'll post my funniest game experience... I believe I was 13 and probably as rabid a Skins fan as I am now -- except without the season tickets. So my friends and I were insanely excited that we were ACTUALLY going to RFK to see a game; this was pretty much going to be the highlight of my 1993 (though for my mom's sake I'll say it was my Bar Mitzvah).
That day I went to see the Skins play the Jets and it was absolutely insanely bitter freezing tear the skin off your face cold. I sat in that cold and watched possibly the most awful boring football game of all time... a 3-0 game. Where the Skins lost. I am also not sure that we *actually* crossed the 50 yardline...and if Im exaggerating its not by much. The fact that the game didnt affect my love for the Skins one bit means I must really love em! Even though it was an awful game, I still think back on it fairly frequently and laugh...
Definition of irony: The spread on that game was Jets by 3! So a crappy game was also one where the bookies made all the $$. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I have been to 3 games all this year @FedEx
Bears, Chargers, and Cowboys. EASILY the cowboys game. I started first getting there early with one of my better friends that I really haven’t spent as much time with out of school and we will be going to different colleges next year so it was all good times on the way there. WE got there and we went to the player’s lot. I saw Christy, Cooley’s cheerleader buddy, and got some autographs from our fearless players. We went in and I was disappointed with the lack of we want Dallas chants (if you all remember I was just posting posts that said we want Dallas that whole week). The anticipation before the game was unreal. I didn't know if we would win or lose and we all knew it meant the season. Then... We kicked some Dallas ass. The game wasn't close, it wasn't a 'good' game, other fans of other teams must have thought it was boring, it won't be remembered for a last minute drive or a toss up at the end, but only for how bad we kicked their ass. It was amazing that I didn't feel the lead was ever big enough. I never felt bad and I just wanted more and more. It started with the BS late hit call on Marcus but it was a big hit and told Dallas that it was going to be a long night. It was 7-0 and I wanted a defensive stand, it moved to 14 then 21 and I wasn't satisfied. I wanted more and Cooley was on my fantasy team. We saw daniels put up his career performance and saw cooley put up the best half a h-back has ever played in NFL history. Marcus picked that ball off and took it back so far and led to the Cooley TD before the half. Regardless of the score it was the best experience ever. The you suck chants echoed back and forth atleast 3 times and it was deafening when we were on defense. The people around me were all entertaining. To my side there was two college girls, sisters and one was drunk out of her ever loving mind. Behind me was some really cool guy but he was a dallas fan and that made the night so much better just to hear him grunting the entire game and laughing at him. Later some old guy decided that he would have that drunk girl sit in his lap so there is this 22 year old cute blond sitting in some 60 year old's lap. Everyone was happy and I gave a few high fives to those infront of me and the girl next to us insisted on giving everyone hugs after ever TD. THe dallas fan was just sitting there upset at first but by the end he coudln't help but smile when I turned around bobbing around and laughing. It was a really entertaining section to say the least. Late in the game I got to move down and down as the seats cleared out. I ended sitting section 101 row 1 seat 1. I was feet behind the players and could hear them yelling. Ramsey was so excited and it was great to see. He was just running around hitting people and running away. I called out to Portis and waved my glove at him. I was telling him to give me his glove. He started to walk over and I was like he is going to throw these up. I started to box out. Arms out and my ass sticking out. I was going to catch these gloves. He walks over and HANDS them to the girl a few seats over. That was the worst part of the night but I didn’t go to the game expecting to come out with Portis’s gloves. Later a guard asked us if we were thirsty and I said sure and he gave us Gatorade right off the field. I don’t know if anything could wash that win down better. I didn’t go to the player lots after the game but I really didn’t need to. I just wanted to get back into the car and yell out my pride. That was the best game there ever was. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
gotta be when i spent a bunch on tickets in the 15th row on the 50 yard line, got a ton a tailgating stuff, spent all day outside grillling in the fedex parking lot, got hammered and made signs and then watch the skins beat the crap outta the cowboys 35-7 last season. :)

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Seeing as I live in the UK and have only been to one Skins game, it has to be that one! Was in DC in '94 when we played the Cards and lost , 19-16 (OT), after Shuler stunk up the joint.
However, it was great for me as I got to see my favourite Skin of all time, DG, run back an INT for a TD. Just wish I'd seen a win! One more thing I remember - how great the Skins fans were around me. Bet my accent threw a few, but I felt right at home. Everyone was so chatty etc. and I went away feeling great, except for the result. Nothing like a (soccer) game over here. EDIT: Found my old photo album from that trip... Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
best game been to was not a home game, was this past year in dallas watching the skins come back and beat the cowboys, Hearing the stadium dead silent except for the skins fans going nuts after moss's 2nd TD.....what an awesome feeling to punk them on their own field after they were up the entire game and having to listen to all of their smack.....also it was the night that emmitt, troy and irvin got inducted into their ring of honor or whatever they call it.....AWWWWW!!

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
The best and the worst for me both happened this past season I think...
The best was watching Josh Brown hit the let upright which sent the game into overtime after it seemed like another heartbreaking loss. This is followed closely by the time I could see John Hall nail a game winner on Opening Night just behind some huge Skins fan beat up 3 jets fans who insulted his hot wife. The worst was while tailgating before the Raiders game this past year, I split my pants while kneeling down to take a beer bong. I wore a pair of Skins pajama pants into that crapfest of a game. This is followed closely by watching the Skins lose to dallas on opening day in OT a few years ago. It was my first regular season game and it scarred me for a little while. |
Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Growing up in New Jersey I had only seen the skins in Giants Stadium. Even as a kid I would get harrassed wearing my gear. My first time to RFK was certainly my most memorable. It was late in the 1992 season and the Skins were playing Dallas. That was the game where the entire lower level was rocking up and down. There was a vintage Joe Gibbs HB option pass for a TD, and Troy Aikman fumbled in the endzone to put away the game for the Skins.
I didn't understand why when we got off the Metro before the game, throat lozenges were being given out. I realized afterward when I had yelled more than ever in my life to that point. That is of course, until the home opener against the Bears this year. |
