Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
If we do have left over Cap money, I would rather the Skins spend it on a veteran back up Guard since Thomas is stll recovering.
An extra veteran back up Cornerback would also be better pick up than yet another LB. |
Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
I would not like the signing as it would just remind me of the 2000 signings. I know it would be a little different circumstancially, but I think its best if we let the guys develop. I think we have a good enough defense where if they make some mental mistakes, it wont KILL the team. Correct me if I'm wrong, but dosent Seau play inside linebacker?
he's an olb and I for one wouldn't be upset if it's just a bit over the vet min. cuz he'd be a reliable player if healthy who has always been a strong locker room leader. even @ his age, if healthy I'd rather him be playing while Rocky is working his way into the spot instead of Holdman. He would definitely be another spark splug of energy for our defense. |
Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
I wouldn't be upset over this signing but I'd rather see the $$ spent on proven, reliable OL depth but whos out there? If GW and Gibbs want him I'll trust their judgement.

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
I say pass, he's old and i like the players we have.

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
if greg williams and the boys can get antonio pierce and lemar marshall to play at pro bowl caliber, and macintosh is alot better player at this stage of his career. just say no to seau, too old and almost finished

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
We drafted two Lb's, signed one as an undrafted free agent, resigned Holdman to go along with Clemons and Mc Cune. Don't think we should be looking in that direction to inhibit the growth of our young players. Seau is older than dirt and I just don't see him bringing that much to the table at this point in his career.

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
greater team talent is better than lesser team talent. You can always get better and he could be a reserve "just in case" all the other question marks at LB don't pan out or lemar gets hurt.

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
i would only want him for vet minimum

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
At least he would give Salva'a some one to click with.
It took me like a minute. You magnificent bastard. |
Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
You know if he comes, Gibbs will use him wisely and it vcertainly would not hurt our young linebacking corps to learn form a future hall of famer (do most here agree with that?). Don't break the bank, but I only see it as a plus.

Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
He would be reunited with Dale Lindsey. But I'm not sure it's worth it really.
Just got a heads up that on ESPN Cold Pizza that Junior Seau is talking to the Redskins. He wants More than the vet minimum.
How do you guys feel about this possibility?
He would be the cherry top on a sundae of over hill cap eating Vets. He hasnt been a force in the league for more than 4 years. |

02 - 13 games, 83 tackles (6.4 per game) 03 - 15 games, 96 tackles (6.4 per game) 04 - 8 games, 57 tackles (7.1 per game) 05 - 7 games, 36 tackles (5.1 per game) let's use facts, facts are fun! he's been good the last four years when healthy. as a reserve, that'd still make him useful, and i'd use him over "worse than a trash can" holdman. and for comparision, washington has had 4.3, 5.1, 6.7, and 5.8 tackles per game the last four years. |
Re: Junior Seau a Redskin??
I like signing Seau for a modest salary. We need experience at linebacker - and Seau is the kind of smart player that would thrive in Gregg Williams' system. It will allow McIntosh more time to develop, which every player would ideally have, and he can be worked in slowly over the year. Chris Clemons is also there to provide a pass rush. Seau can be used sparingly enough so that he can maximize his energy when he is in there.
Seau adds intangibles as well - a burning desire to finally win a Super Bowl, leadership - this is a no brainer signing really when you take everything into account. Holdman I'm sure is a decent player who would still have an NFL job with another team if Seau signs, but I don't think he would be the difference maker that Junior Seau is. |
