By golly cpayne, you've talked me into it!
But I said a "nice" site for videos, not a Frontpage hackjob ;)

I've got unlimited space and 500GB/month of bandwidth, so that's not really the problem.

I'd have a good time setting it up, it's just I don't wanna get my ass sued for copyright infringement.
I wouldn't be worried about them suing you, unless you have LOTS of money (with 500GB/mo maybe you do ;)). Also, they would probably tell you to remove the vids before suing (the lawsuit probably wouldn't work out well, if they never told you to remove them).

500Gb/month can be had for $5/month these days.

True - space and bandwidth has dropped to absurdly low prices. Companys give it out like candy. I remember paying $30/month for 50MB...ah the expensive ol' days...
I'm guessing YouTube could just say "Hey, our users post the video, it's their problem, not ours."

Maybe I'll just go for it and hope for a Cease and Desist notice instead of an all out lawsuit. Cease and desist I can deal with, the reincarnation of Johnny Cochran chasing my ass down I cannot handle.
wrong, they host the video's on THEIR servers, so it's entirely their problem. Bit torrent sites can use that excuse, but not youtube or google video.

Good point. I guess I was thinking more in terms that YouTube and Google Video are user posted video as opposed to personally managed, but you're right, really only matters whose server it's on.

I guess with video taken from NFL broadcasts you can duplicate it and do what you want with it as long as you're not profiting, right?

technically you can't do anything with it without their consent outside of strictly personal use. But that's impossible to enforce and it'd hurt their ratings if they lost all that free advertising.

I have all eighteen games from 2005 on DVD, or in DVD format. But the game I go back to the most is the first Dallas game. Those last four minutes are SCHWEET! Those passes by Brunell and the catches by Santana are things of beauty...

Does anyone know of a good (free) converter of mp4s? I need these files in .avi, .mpg, or .wmv.

By far the funniest thing I have ever seen on this site. AMD you are a crazy fool.

I'll get on this stuff, but I need a file converter to get my mp4 game film into something my movie editor can work with. If you can help me out, drop me a line....or something.

Re: Now Taking Requests

do you have a video editor? i thought microsoft moviemaker (or whatever its called) could do that, or adobe or ulead's video editors... if you just need a converter, you can use google and find about 40 different ones depending on what you need.
