that said, i was very disappointed we didn't see passes in the air over 30yds (before YAC). what gives?[/quote]

it was all dump offs but a few. Not taking anything away from brunell but outside of a few throws it was all dump offs. Which worked...against houston.

Gotta admit, he played well today. If he can keep that up I might even become a Mark Brunell supporter.

exactly. a very conservative gameplan against whats considered one of the worst teams in football. we should've seen yardage records broken today.

I notice Peyton Manning didn't set the record the previous week against Houston. I know that Houston's defense didn't give up this many points to those high-flying Eagles.

I'm not putting on a clean shirt so I can meet Brunell at the airport with a box of candy. I'm just saying that he had a great game in what was (for three quarters, anyway) a loud and hostile environment.

I, saden, congratulate myself for not doubting Brunell. Congratulations to Brunell too for proving that he is still a talent QB who can help this team win.

yeah who needs a series of consecutive completions when it takes P.Manning only one or two to get it downfield? seriously, what happened today was solid QB play by Mark, but thats really what you expect from a vet against no pressure and a sub-par Texan defense.

I am not even going to look up who posted on this thread and also called for his head last week.

I will be happy with him if they beat Jacksonville. Any one of the three could have led them to 1-3.

Yeah, I was going to say, Brunell had all day to throw. Apparently the Texans coaches didn't watch much film from the Dallas game. He was rarely under duress. I give credit to Saunders as well, he really had the D off balance, threw on 1st down, called for quick passes, (which would have helped against Dallas) and designed plays for Brunell to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible.

Call it "hating" if you want, but Mark clealy got a bug up his ass this week with all the talk of being too old and washed up. He was bound and determined to shut some people the hell up. Let's just say, he got exactly the right opponent to help with that.

Still, here's some credit where credit is due, against a bad team or not, it was the most accurate performance he's ever given. Now let's see how he does against a ferocious Jaguar D. That could turn out to be the story of the season: He's brilliant against inferior opponents, but ineffective to downright atrocious against equal or better talent.

yes have to the old man credit he made about 5 passes across the line of scrimmage. come lete be real it great to get a win but who did they really beat the team who had and maybe will have the first pick in the draft again. listen nobody said he could'nt throw screens or two yard outs. his farthest pass down field should have been intercepted by went through the defenders hands. lets see what he does these next two weeks that will be his real test. i promise you he will not be able to throw screens all day against jacksonville. so hail to the redskins its great to win finally. but lets dont go over board here. most of his yardage came on portis run for 78 yards and a screen to randle el.

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!

I had reasonable doubt after last week but it's pretty amazing that with our best offensive weapon actually starting, good o-line play, and another week getting used to Saunders' system what this team is capable of. Some are going to scoff, and some already have, about the fact that this offensive explosion was against a barely pro team in the Texans, but if I'm not mistaken this is also the same Texan team that was destroyed by the Eagles and yet that was a great sign of supposed things to come for the eagles. Brunell made great choices to get the ball into the hands of his playmakers and let them do what they're getting paid all those millions to do. Here's to hoping this is just a sliver of what we will get to see from the offense this season especially since we haven't even really seen Llyod, Cooley, or anything long downfield.

but for crying out loud can the team cut back on the friggin penalties.

CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 09-24-2006 11:12 PM

Re: Hats off to Mark Brunell setting a NFL record!

because our qb cant throw the ball downfield, and the reason people talked about the eagle is because mcnabb is healthy, also mcnabb throws a forward pass not a sideline pass or behind the line of scrimmage pass every play
