Re: Lost
They've been doing that sort of thing since hte beginning, I think. I've heard that Hurley and Sun's characters were basically written specifically for the actors after he was spotted on another show and she unsuccessfully tried out for another role.
Also, just go back to last season when they had problems with Ana Lucia and Libby wanted to go star in another show (which was never picked up). In fact, you can say the same with Shannon and Michael; they're pretty much gone because they wanted to do movies, or so I've heard. PS- I have a coworker who's obessed with the message boards and they talk about Lost on EITM all the time. Plus, I'm a nerd.
Yeah you can't ever count on actors sticking around and such but having a guy who you intended to be just a one-off character end up as the leader shows me a general lack of direction. Thats all I want. An idea of where this going. If they already know hows this plays out in general then it is easier to have everything flow with continuity and be quality. Otherwise every week you're stuck trying to fit together episodes like a puzzle and details start failing through cracks and things drag on and on. See X-Files for example. They had no end game so they didn't have anything to aim for. That show ended up totally sucking the last few years. |
Re: Lost
I thought it was decent, not great though. Looks like The Nine might be a good show following it as well.
Back to Lost though, I thought there was something really about Henry Gale (Ben) sitting down for breakfast with Kate
what's the nine about? the teaser didn't look that great, but it had the main guy from Eyes in it (which is a killer show btw, even though it got cancelled and they only showed all 13 episodes in new zealand... yay demonoid.com). |
Re: Lost
I totally agree. This reminds me, I really hope they explain the whole "monster" thing soon because that's starting to bother me. Remember how it seemed to rip the plane's co-pilot apart in either the 2nd or 3rd episode of the show? So WTF was that all about? I need answers!

Re: Lost
It is about 9 surviving hostages of a bank robbery and it was very well done in my opinion. Well shot and directed and the idea could be good. I am not sure about some of the characters but they should round into form. I can't see how this makes it past a season though. After a while it will be just a soap opera kind of show possibly.
It probably won't get better, so in addition to watching it on air, I may just start watching it online the next day, as it's pieced together much better.
I also wonder where the teenager in the other cage came from, and then what they ended up doing with him...
that's what i do. i don't think i've seen a commercial interuption in a tv show in the last two years ;) plus you can watch it whenever you want and have it saved. yay cappers! |

See that's my point. If they dont have an end game in my mind then every episode doesn't necessarily fit with future episodes. If they know where they are going everything can fit together and it will be cool. Otherwise we'll end up with lots of lame answers and non-answers. |

it'll end up like twin peaks (the series it's the most similar to, sort of). from huh? to whaa?? in just 2 seasons. |

Yeah I can see it being interesting as we find out what happened "in there". That's going to be the hook. Since they only showed the start of the robbery and the rescue 52 hours later no one knows what happened "in there". But how long can that reasonably take to play out? One season at most? I also hate Scott Wolfe. He is still Bailey and still makes me think he is 15. |
Re: Lost
i agree on wolfe. the other two turned out okay though (lost - though with the exact same character, and farscape)

Re: Lost
I agree the boy was probably an Other.
On a side note I am highly disappointed bc I felt like my theory was going somewhere. Basically that the whole plane accident didn't happen, it was all setup. After they boarded the plane they were drugged and it "Crashed". But they were just secretly put on an island, as a part of some huge experiment. The whole experiment part seems to be slowly validated, but bc the Others saw the plane actually crash, seems to indicate that it actually did. I thought it might not have, bc the other half of the plane, split and fell into the ocean, from 11,000 ft, or whatever planes fly at. I think, Ana Lucia said she fell directly into the water, if I am not mistaken, which seems unlikely. Also with insane number of times that the cast ran into each other and had connections before the crash, seems to indicate this was a predetermined group. Otherwise the chances of all that happening is really slim. PS: Remember the chick that told Jack his cell was an aquarium. For dolphins, and SHARKS! Remember the shark last season with a Darma logo on its back fin.....hmmmm lol |
Re: Lost
teach him he can't escape, so don't try maybe? i don't know, right not they've completely flipped it from a bunch of bums in dirty huts to a fully functioning modern society, so it's a little to up in the air what's actually happening.

I mean, falling straight into the water from that kind of height would be the same as falling straight into hardened cement. the whirring exploding engine thing in the very first episode is completely impossible. It'd be hard for a plane to rip apart the way they showed it (though i guess magnets positioned correctly might be able to, but where was the explosion from all the fuel that should have combutsed?). Also things like the republican gaurd DO NOT COMMIT TOTURE. Saddam had an entire force of people tasked specifically for that (mujahadim? guys that wore all black). I could go on, but it'll just bring everyone down. |

I could go on, but it'll just bring everyone down.
So could it not be, that they were drugged, and the plane did not crash, and the island they are on, has a whole bunch of crazy stuff, because it is a test environment? If you look at the crash episode, that shows the plane crashing. It starts shaking, then the oxygen, or cough cough, the drug masks fall down. People put them on, and then the plane crashed. I know that is usually how the air supply works, but still it would be good chance to drug someone. Either way, it seems like all the run-ins before the crash, are way too much for the crash and flight just to be a random chance. But yeah, ThatGuy, I agree that Hollywood is never really accurate, so you could be right. I just would love it if my theory was right, I like crazy stuff lol. |
