Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
Rogers hasn't been struggling. Seriously. It's like people have that opinion, then they read it and have it themselves. REALLY, what causes anyone to think he's struggling. I think the cushion he gives is due to playcalling, not on his own.
On redskins postgame show, Brian Mitchell asked Greg Williams about the cushion and he said that it looked like carlos was worried about his footing and getting beat by Stallworth. GW said he was going to work on that will carlos this week. But I agree with both of opinion, He is struggling and part of it is coaching. Too much cushion and too much zone. He needs to get on the line and bump WR's. THere's no point in having big cornerbacks if we arent going to bump them at the line. |
As far as the Denver Deal: If we both have a 1st round draft pick #21-32, and we are lower, we swap picks. If we have draft pick #20 or lower, we keep it.If we have a top ten pick, I say trade the shit out of it.
This is a bad idea...this is the Skins problem, they need to avoid flooding our roster with free agents every off-season and start building our team around the draft. We are starting to be a joke around the league whenever a "big name" free agent becomes available. Maybe we should trade Vinny this offseason. As much as this hurts for me to say... but I admire Philly for the way their organization has run lately as far as personnel; Damn near all of their starters were drafted by them. |
Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
As far as how likely it is the Skins get the first pick....
While there are a number of 3-6 teams, the only teams with a worse record right now: TEN (2-7) OAK (2-7) DET (2-7) TB (2-6) ARI (1-8) In essence, the Skins are only 2 games out of dead last. |

Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
If they're at the top of the first round they need to go for a Defensive linemen. DE or DT, I don't care. I'm sick of mediocre play from the front four. I also think that having a dominant guy on the line next to Carter would make him much better. He's not a top flite pass rusher. However, he could be a 10 sack guy if we got one across from him. That's just my opinion.

Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
yeah i dont think we will get a top 5 pick. somewhere in the top ten is more likely if we dont go on a little win streak, 8-10 is probably our range right now. still will be good value there, brohm, teddy gin, etc. where good value can be had for teams wanting these players
If they pick Ted Gin I am boycotting Fed-Ex. |

Rogers lacks top end speed and cover skills (explaining the cushion). But he has been the league's best tackling CB in the run game since he broke in (it's why GW took him in the top 10), and the importance of that cannot be understated. He will never be the best cover CB in the lineup, but you want him in the lineup for his run stuffing ability. I think he needs to play smarter on third down and learn to take risks. But he will be our no. 2 corner for years to come and be good at it. And he looked great against Philadelphia this week in man. |

I wouldn't actually do it, but that might be the worst pick...ever. |
Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
if we got the #1 pick (not happening) we would definitely trade down. someone would pay a lot to get brady quinn or peterson or johnson or whoever it is
I think it's very possible that we could have the number one pick. The schedule is pretty tough down the stretch. We have TB, Philly, Giants, Carolina, Falcons, Saints and Rams. Those games could EASILY all be losses. We are looking at 3-13 or 4-12. |

Unfortunately, I agree with you. With a new QB and nothing to play for. We could easily lose the rest. At least we beat Dallas. |
Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
Fred Bennett, CB, South Carolina Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson in that order. I'd like to think that Washington won't pick in the first 10 this year, but things aren't looking good. |

Chris Long(Howie's son)-Virginia
lol...I wish, this kid is a beast. |
Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
brohm might not come out till next year... instead of competing with quinn and troy smith, he'll only have to worry about henne.
the only WR even worth considering (for us) would be calvin johnson because he' SUCH a freak athlete with great work ethic etc... tactically it'd be pretty stupid, but the talent would make it pretty tempting. I'm not super impressed with the CBs this year, though there are a couple good ones (and yeah, i really like josh wilson, but he's not even projected in the first round right now, much less the top five-ten picks. leon hall is the only CB in that range right now.). Clements would easily beat out the impact we'd get from any CB we could draft, though it'd come at a steep price. for us, i think our best move would be adam gaines (DE). he's a fairly safe pick, a top five talent, and he'd address a huge need (and add youth to an old starting DL). If you could trade down and still come away with moses (DE), posluszny (LB), or okoye (DT) that wouldn't be terrible, especially if you could end up with a guy like ben grubbs (OG) or a decent CB/DE. dockery isn't going to get a big contract, so he should be back. last year a late 2nd rounder (like what we had) could have gotten us a day one starter an upgrade there, but we went for a LB that holdman's been able to keep on the bench for a full 10 games instead :/. cheap FA OGs aren't hard to find though. and rogers is NOT the best tackling CB in the league. champ bailey is better, spring is better, etc etc. he IS a great tackling CB, but there are better tacklers and much much better cover guys. |
Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
Why not use a first round pick to draft a cornerback. That is a problem that needs to be addressed with Springs only with a few more years and Rogers struggling recently. Josh Wilson of Maryland will be a stud in the NFL and another quality pick out of Maryland in the last few years.
thats what i am talking about. JOsh Wilson is a mother f...ing monster. |
