I love the guy but Gibbs is a liar when it comes to the press. I'm always reminded of a quote between him and Patrick Ramsey when he said something to the effect of "Patrick you and I are going to be together for a long time."
I made a comment not too long ago about Gibbs being a liar, and some people got very upset, but it's true...he lies a lot. I don't know if we should be disturbed by that, or just accept it as what he needs to do to get what he wants.

There's a difference between being a liar, and changing your mind.

This move saves us $1.5 million in cap space.

Re: Wynn restructures
Can someone please explain why Wynn gets such a pass with Redskins fans?

Check these numbers:

Through 16 games in 2005, he had 24 tackles and one-half sack. Last year, in 15 games he had 14 tackles. That's it.

The guy is a complete bum who should have retired 5 years ago. He is one of the reasons people around the league think this team is a laughingstock.

The loyalty some people have for Renaldo Wynn is absolutely baffling.
He played IN 16 games. Do you think he was an every down player last year? In 2004 and 2005, he had double the tackles because he played almost every down. Last year, Golston steps in and starts. We get Carter, so that takes away Wynn from playing DE and he plays even less. I don't see how his stats last year are any indication of the type of player he is.

As a matter of fact, if you look through his whole career, he has never topped thirty tackles in a season for some great Jacksonville and Washington defenses. So either he A) still has something left in the tank or B) was just a "never was" rather than a "has been".

Re: Wynn restructures

I know he wasn't a starter. Don't you think that at some point, even the guys for depth have to show more than Wynn has been able to give us? There comes a time when a guy's value and playing time becomes so insignificant that he's not worth keeping on the roster anymore.

For the life of me I don't understand the love affair some people seem to have for that man. It's not like we're talking about Darrell Green here! Is Renaldo Wynn the type of player who NEVER has to account for his contributions?

If his role is so limited, can't we bring in some young, hungry players who are aching to prove themselves for the money Wynn is getting? Wynn couldn't make it on any other roster in the league, yet there is a maniacal faction of fans here who never want to see him go.

I'll never understand it.

Didn't we sign these people named Golston and Montgomery last year?

Not only that, if a player has shown to be solid the entire time he's been here and he BASICALLY takes a pay cut to stay on the team, he'll ALWAYS get my vote of confidence. Sure, he has to account for his contributions, but given his limited playing time, he was nothing but solid.

Aren't they young, hungry players?

Re: Wynn restructures

Or are you basically just suggesting we should have taken Okoye with our first round pick?

I have to say this year we most definitely are reaping what we sowed. Tank Tyler and a NUMBER of projected first round and early second round picks dropped to the late rounds where we could have snagged them.

Well, I guess therein lies our disagreement.

You say he's been "solid".

I say he's been practically nonexistant.

Just curious what you've been basing that on. Is it purely stats?

Re: Wynn restructures

Because if you want to go that route, Marcus Stroud had only 19 tackles last year. John Henderson had 38 (only a few more than Wynn in what you call his "has-been" years).

Re: Wynn restructures

You can't judge defensive lineman very well on tackles alone, as some people have already pointed out.

Oh, I see. So since we have Golston and Montgomery, we have no need for anymore young, hungry players at the D-line!

 indeed.
