I'm still hoping someone knows of the cap ramifications of trading Brunell.
I really dont think it is possible.
And then who would we get to replace him, Bramlet?

PA-Leeze.....some CAP guru, help.

I just want this Brunell trade talk to die!
1. If you're saying he objectively looks at all factors in making a decision, I agree, but that's far different than simply putting your best players forward regardless of age & salary. Wynn might overall be a better player than Wilson at this point, but Wilson makes the roster based on his upside, age & salary.

Gibbs is a savy leader that knows when he has to make a drastic move. This might not be classified as such, but i don't think it's at all far fetched to think that in this case he needed to show the team & coaches that he could promote TC.
1. I agree...I consider "upside" part of "best player"

2. you may be right. Gibbs wont/cant cut Brunell...but he is sure showing the fans and the team that he no longer has a Man-Crush on him.
That is meaningful

Hey, Collins played great in the pre-season and rightfully deserves the #2 spot behind Campbell. I think it's great to have three QBs who the coaching staff feels can step in and lead this team. I'm definitely proud to have Mark Brunell on the team. The guy could still step in and start if necessary. You can't say that about many 3rd stringers. We're great at QB this year.

Brunell is public enemy #1 to a lot of people.
I used to be a huge Brunell hater...No longer....Seems to me since he had the shoulder surgery in the off-season his arm looks much stronger... I hope he can regain some of his former Jacksonville swanger...

Yep, it began when he took over for Patrick Ramsey, the boy-crush of many of our members.

I was never a Brunell hater. I do think he is trying to hard to show how strong his arm is after surgery this offseason. I also think it was affecting his accuracy and that is why he is # 3
Here we go again... Let's defend Brunell with the game where he used up the last bit of his magic, two effing years ago.

And I was kidding... sort of.
See 90% of the games he started as a Redskin. And it's not like I even hate Brunell. I just take issue with the idea that he could come in and win games "with no problem". I actually like having him as the #2... apparently more than Coach Gibbs does. :laughing2

You're so right on Brunell trying to gun the ball.

For the record, I don't think people here hate Brunell just for the sake of being negative or hating. I think the moment someone says anything negative about Mark Brunell, people are quick to say you're hating for no reason.

But there are definitely people who hate for no reason. As soon as someone says some mindless crap like well "Gibbs and Brunell go to church together so that's why he's starting" then you know you're dealing with an idiot who is hating for no reason.

Yeah, I agree with you there -that's hating.

Just look at our cap sheets under the release fees section. It would cost the Skins about $3.5M to get rid of MB this year.

I was listening to the (gadawful) Sports Reporters the other day, and I agreed with what Czaben had to say (then went home and showered to get the stench off):

Behind Campbell, there is Trash 2a and Trash 2b. If Campbell goes down, the season goes with him. (paraphrased of course)

I have to agree there. We were a 5 win offensive system last year, and if Campbell goes down, we're back to the same elements of the 5 win offensive system. The defense will only take this team so far.

I hope Campbell doesn't go down and has a successful season...but if he does, I hope the analysis above is completely wrong.

Re: RI: Collins is the no. 2

I think alot of teams around the league would be sunk if their starting QB went down.

It's awfully tough these days to hold on to quality depth at that position for very long before someone swoops in and gives your backup a starting job.

Could our situation be better? Yeah probably... but at the same time having two veterans who are well versed in the offense isn't necessarily a terrible thing.

I think this just repeats what we already know, that this is Brunell's last year.
